A Minecraft Movie - A Fun Adaptation of Hugely Popular Best Selling Game

This movie had its special screening during the previous weekend in Indonesia and only had its wide release last Wednesday. But amazingly, even on Saturday the cinemas were still full of audience which made it very hard for us to get tickets. After hesitating a while, my wife and I finally decided to buy tickets in the cinema that we frequently went even though they were not our favorite seats. Without further ado, here's more on the movie. 

Brief Story Line

Steve (Jack Black - Kungfu Panda 4, Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween etc) was a doorknob salesman who felt he had been wasting his life and decided to go to the mysterious mine that made him curious since childhood. Inside he found a unique world called the Overworld where he felt happy and decided to stay there. However, Steve later uncovered the Nether world with its ruler Malgosha (voiced by Rachel House - Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, Heartbreak High TV series etc) who was trying to take over the Overworld and turn it into a dark place like the Nether. 

(2025) The Amateur - Story of Unconventional Kind of Spy on Personal Mission

This film was just released in Indonesian theaters on Friday and I decided to see this with my wife yesterday. It was the first of our movie marathon day while the other one was something we had been eyeing from last week. All right then, I'll start with the movie now.

Brief Story Line

Charlie Heller (Rami Malek - Amsterdam, Bohemian Rhapsody etc) was a brilliant decoder for the CIA and was living happily with his wife Sarah (Rachel Brosnahan - Spies in Disguise, House of Cards TV series etc). But when he received devastating news from his boss Deputy Director Moore (Holt McCallany - Nightmare Alley, Mindhunter TV series etc), Charlie insisted the CIA to help him resolve it. Despite his repeated requests, the CIA did not really assist Charlie which made him took matter into his own hands.

G20 - An Action Thriller with Familiar Plot

I did not realize this movie was released on Thursday on Prime Video and only realized the day after. Its premise sounded interesting for me and seemed to promise lots of action. So without hesitation, I immediately watch it last night once I was available. All right then, I'll dive into it. 

Brief Story Line

US President Danielle Sutton (Viola Davis - How to Get Away with Murder TV series, The Woman King etc) was planning to implement a new program that would help the poor farmers in Sahara desert. She wanted to bring this program to be approved by other leaders during the G20 convention in South Africa. Together with her husband Derek (Anthony Anderson - Ferdinand, The Departed etc), their two children, the rebellious Serena (Marsai Martin - Black-ish TV series etc) & her younger brother Demetrius (Christopher Farrar), they all went to the convention in a fortress-like hotel in Cape Town. 

(Mini Series) Karma - Great Series With Story that Suit the Title Perfectly

This new limited series that was released by Netflix on 4 April had a very brief, yet intriguing synopsis. But since I was finishing other series, I only got the chance to watch it yesterday and managed to complete in one day. OK, let's just get right to the series now, shall we.

Brief Story Line

Story focused on people whose lives were entangled by ill-fated relationships. The first one was a man whose investment using money borrowed from loan shark was unsuccessful, resulted to him being debt-ridden and referred to as the Debtor (Lee Hee-joon - Badland Hunters, A Killer Paradox TV series etc). Second was Jang Gil-ryong (Kim Sung-kyun - Moving TV series, Officer Black Belt etc), a Korean-Chinese immigrant who was fired from his work and accepted offer to do a job that promised huge pay. Third was a surgeon Lee Ju-yeon (Shin Min-a - No Gain No Love TV series, My Love, My Bride etc) who was caught with the trauma from her past.

(TV SERIES) The Bondsman Season 1 - Interesting Horror Action Series About Undead Bounty Hunter

When I watched another movie on Prime Video the other day, I also noticed a new series with very interesting premise. Originally I thought it would be similar to their other original series and released one or two episodes per week, but apparently all were made available on the same day. So obviously I decided to watch immediately. OK, I'll just get started then.

Brief Story LIne

Hub Halloran (Kevin Bacon - Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F, The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special etc) was a bounty hunter who got into an altercation with one of his targets and got killed. However, he was later resurrected by the devil and "recruited" to work for him to catch demons that escaped from hell. Hub's mother Kitty (Beth Grant - The Mindy Project TV series, Speed etc) was shocked when she found out but decided to assist him in his missions. 

Holland - Rather Disappointing for a Supposedly Psychological Thriller

I have seen this new movie released on Prime Video last week but did not have the chance to watch as I was in the middle of finishing other series. Last night while looking for something new to see, I remembered about the film and decided to watch it. OK, let's get it going then.

Brief Story Line

Story was set in the year 2000, in Holland, Michigan where school teacher Nancy (Nicole Kidman - The Perfect Couple mini series, Paddington etc) was living happily with her husband Fred Vandergroot (Matthew Macfayden - Deadpool & Wolverine, Ripper Street TV series etc) and their 13 year old boy Harry (Jude Hill - A Haunting in Venice etc). But when Nancy started noticing that Fred had been frequently going on conferences, she suspected of him having an affair.

(TV SERIES) Who Saw the Peacock Dance in the Jungle? - Despite Its Sometimes Melodramatic Moments and Slow Burn Process, but the Series was Pretty Worth the Watch with Its Multiple Shocking Twists

During 2 weeks vacation with my wife, I did not have chance to see anything in the cinemas but I did complete few series on Netflix. As they were released some time back, I decided to write about this Japanese series instead, since its finale was made available only recently and I finished it last night. All right then, I'll get right to it.

Brief Story Line

Komugi (Hirose Suzu - The Third Murder, Chiyafuru trilogy etc) was a college student living only with her ex-cop father Haruo Yamashita (Lily Franky - Tokyo Swindlers TV series, Shoplifters etc) for years. On the Christmas eve, Komugi's father was found murdered on their burnt house. Haruo's old partner from the police, Detective Akazawa (Fujimoto Takahiro - Rurouni Kenshin: The Beginning, Golden Kamuy 2 TV series etc) caught the culprit Endo Tomoya (Narita Ryo - Modern Love Tokyo anthology series etc) who was the son of convicted murderer of the whole Hayashikawa family that occurred 22 years before.

Invincible Swordsman - Another Adaptation of Jin Yong's Popular Martial Arts Novel

Few days ago, I watched this Chinese movie that I have also been eyeing when it was released during vacation with my wife. It was very challenging since very few cinemas left showing the film. In fact it was no longer available in Indonesia from yesterday. Anyway, here's more on the movie.

Brief Story Line

Ling Huchong (Tim Huang - The Forbidden Depths, Captain Han TV series etc) was the Huashan sect disciple who always had mind of his own and dislike following rules of martial arts world. Due to some reasons, he was expelled by his teacher Yue Buqun (Zhang Lu - Undercover TV series etc) but later become the direct student of Grand Master Feng (Sammo Hung - Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In, Mr. Nice Guy etc) and learnt even greater skills.

(2025) Nocturnal - A Slow-Paced Crime Thriller With Disappointing Few Unresolved Things

As one of the movies that I missed out during vacation with my wife, I tried to catch this one before it's gone. There were just 3 cinemas left playing this movie yesterday, so my wife and I went to the one easiest to access from our home. Well I'll just get right to it then.

Brief Story Line

When his beloved brother Seok-tae (Park Jong-hwan - Confidential Assignment 2: International, Taxi Driver 2 TV series etc) was found dead, Min-Tae (Ha Jung-woo - Hijack 1971, Take Point etc), a former convict decided to search for the truth. His first instinct was to find out what happened from Seok-tae's boss, gang leader Chang-mo (Jung Man-sik - I, The Executioner, Rampant etc). During his investigation, Min-tae also learnt that his brother's girlfriend Moo-young (Yoo Da-in - The Cave, Memorials TV series etc) was missing and started to look for her.

Ne Zha 2 - An Absolutely Entertaining, Action-packed Chinese Animated Movie that Broke Various Box Office Records

After reading the news about this movie for a couple of months, I was excited to hear that it would be released in Indonesia. However it was done while I was on vacation with my wife and hence we had to wait till we return to Jakarta. Yesterday we finally got the chance to see it in one of the cinemas not far from our home. Without further ado, here's more on the film.

Brief Story Line

Story was set immediately after the events in the first movie where the bodies of Ne Zha (Lu Yanting) and his best friend Ao Bing (Han Mo) were destroyed. Ne Zha's teacher Master Taiyi (Zhang Jiaming) tried his best to recreate their bodies but due to some complications, they had to find other ways to complete the work. To do so, Ne Zha had to leave his parents General Li Jing (Chen Hao) and Lady Yin (Lu Qi) to go to Yu Xu castle managed by Master Wuliang (Wang Deshun - Wu Kong, Heavenly Sword and Dragon Slaying Sabre 2019 series etc) to complete three trials and collect a special treasure.

A Working Man - Another Satisfying Statham's Action Thriller Movie

Though the movie was released only this week, technically it is still one of the film that I tried to catch up after my vacation. Since yesterday I was allowed to leave work earlier before the long holiday, together with my wife we were able to see the movie at a more convenient time. OK, why don't I just get to it then.

Brief Story Line

Levon Cade (Jason Statham - Meg 2: The Trench, Fast and Furious: Hobbs & Shaw etc) was a former Royal Marine who left the force to be a good father to his young daughter Merry (Isla Gie). He chose to work as a construction worker for the company owned by Joe Garcia (Michael Peña - Fantasy Island, The Lego Ninjago Movie etc). When Joe's daughter Jenny (Arianna Rivas - Prom Dates etc) was kidnapped by some human traffickers, Levon was asked to find her. 

(2025) Snow White - Despite Its Surrounding Controversies, Still a Pretty Enjoyable Live Version Adaptation of Disney's Classic

After having vacation out of the country for 2 weeks with my wife, I was eager to play catch up with the movies released during those time. Yesterday evening, we opted to see this film in the cinema just walking distance from our home. All right, let's just get on with it.

Brief Story Line

Snow White (Rachel Zegler - Shazam! Fury of the Gods, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes etc) was a princess who lost her parents since she was young. Meanwhile her step mother, the Evil Queen (Gal Gadot - Heart of Stone, Wonder Woman etc) was obsessed of being the fairest of all by constantly checking on the Magic Mirror (voiced by Patrick Page - Spirited, The Gilded Age TV series etc). Fearing that Snow White would trouble her in the future, the Queen confined her in the palace and turned her into the maid. One day, Snow White met and sympathized with a thief/rebel named Jonathan (Andrew Burnap - The Front Room, Under the Banner of Heaven mini series etc) who was eager to defy the Queen. After the Evil Queen was told by the Mirror that she was no longer the fairest, she decided to kill Snow White and instructed the Huntsman (Ansu Kabia - Miss Scarlet and The Duke TV series etc) to do so. 

Mickey 17 - A Movie Having Very Unique Story and Strong Dark Humor from Bong Joon-ho

I have seen the trailer to this movie few times before and I thought it looked really interesting. So when it was finally released mid of the week, my wife and I decided to see it yesterday after we have a little get together earlier. OK, I'll just get to it then.

Brief Story Line

Story was set in the future where people had found an inhabitable planet called Niflheim which took 4.5 years to reach. An expedition led by politician Kenneth Marshall (Mark Ruffalo - The Adam Project, Now You See Me 2 etc) and his wife Ylfa (Toni Collette - Juror #2, Hereditary etc) was done to conquer the planet with many personnels including scientists, security agents like Nasha Barridge (Naomi Ackie - The End of the F***king World TV series, Blink Twice etc), pilot such as Timo (Steven Yeun - Nope, Beef TV series etc) and last but not least, an expendable Mickey (Robert Pattinson - The Batman, Tenet etc).

The Monkey - The Pretty Awesome Adaptation of Stephen King's Short Story

Last night I decided to see one of the new movies released in Indonesian cinemas this week. It was a rare opportunity since during the fasting period, my office allowed all employees to leave earlier. Although it was a horror, my wife and I felt it would not be too scary for us as it was said to be comedy horror. All right then, why don't I just get to it.

Brief Story Line

In 1999, young twin brothers Hal and Bill (Christian Convery - Sweet Tooth TV series, Cocaine Bear etc) who were living with their mother Lois (Tatiana Maslany - She-Hulk: Attorney At Law TV series, The Other Half etc), found a Monkey toy left by their father and played with it. Unbeknownst to them, the toy somehow created an event that resulted to the death of someone close. Feeling it would be dangerous, they decided to hid it somewhere.

When I saw this movie in the Coming Soon section of Netflix and its cool looking poster, I was interested to give it a try. But as I was finishing another series, I only got the chance to watch this last night, 3 days after its release. So how was the film then? Let's find out more, shall we?

Shuhei Sakata (Toma Ikuta - Hanamizuki, Beyond Goodbye TV series etc) was a professional hitman who informed his handler Fujita (Taro Sugura - Tokyo Swindlers TV series etc) that he wanted to retire and live peacefully with his family. Unfortunately for him, a group of masked men murdered them and pinned the crime to Sakata by showing that he committed suicide.  

Legends of the Condor Heroes: The Gallants - Despite Focusing on Final Chapters of the Beloved First Book of Jin Yong's Trilogy, Still Pretty Entertaining Movie in the Wuxia Genre

After weeks of waiting for the movie to be released in Indonesian cinemas, finally it was available on Wednesday. My wife and I decided to see it yesterday as doing so on weekdays would be very tiring since it has long duration. Anyway, why don't I just get right to it.

Brief Story Line

Story was set during Southern Song dynasty period where its people were caught in the war between Jin dynasty and Mongols. Guo Jing (Xiao Zhan - Jade Dynasty, The Untamed TV series etc) who was an excellent martial artist was separated from the love of his life Huang Rong (Zhuang Dafei - My Wife's Double Life TV series, Be My Wife etc). While searching for her, Guo Jing met with his Mongol old friends that included To Lui (Alan Aruna - The Knockout etc), third son of Genghis Khan (Baya'ertu). He later decided to return to Mongolia to meet his mother Li Ping (Ada Choi - S Storm, Empresses in the Palace TV series etc), though things got complicated when Guo Jing also met with the Khan's daughter Huajun (Zhang Wenxin) who was betrothed to him.

(TV SERIES) High Potential Season 1 - Fun, Light & Enjoyable Police Procedural Series with Interesting Lead Character

I noticed this series under the new release section of Disney+ channel and read a bit on the premise which sounded interesting. But I only started watching 3 nights ago when I saw that the finale would be available on Thursday & finished it last night. OK, I'll just get started then.

Brief Story Line

Morgan Gillory (Kaitlin Olson - Finding Dory, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia TV series etc) was a cleaning lady for the LAPD who noticed something bothering her on a murder board. The Detective in charge Adam Karadec (Daniel Sunjata - Echoes mini series, Graceland TV series etc) found out it was Morgan who did something on the board. It would be revealed later that she was a High Potential Individual (HPI) who could deduce things based on what she saw. Lieutenant Soto (Judy Reyes - Devious Maids TV series, Smile etc) saw her potential and decided to appoint Morgan as consultant for the police despite the reluctance and skepticism from Karadec, although the other Detectives Daphne Forrester (Javicia Leslie - Batwoman TV series, Always a Bridesmaid etc) and her partner Lev Ozdil (Deniz Akdeniz - The Flight Attendant TV series, Dumb Money etc) were more open minded.

(2025) Cleaner - Straight Forward Action Thriller Movie that Should Please Fans of Such Genre

There were few movies released in Indonesian cinemas this week wIth one or two that interest me. This was one of them that my wife was willing to accompany me see. So we went to a cinema not far from our home after my wife's event in the morning. All right, let's get to it then.

Joey Locke (Daisy Ridley - Star Wars: The Rise of the Skywalker, Chaos Walking etc) was a former military officer who was discharged and had to work as window cleaner in a high rise building together with another cleaner Noah (Taz Skylar - One Piece live action series etc). One day Joey's autistic older brother Michael (Matthew Tuck) was waiting for her in that building when a group of environment activist led by Marcus (Clive Owen - Gemini Man, Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets etc) attacked and kept everyone inside.

(MINI SERIES) Zero Day - Intriguing Political Thriller With Some Brilliant Acting by Its Cast

Two days ago this limited series was released on Netflix. I was interested to give it a try cause the plot seemed intriguing even if it was categorized as political thriller which is usually heavy. But since it was said to be limited series, I thought it would be nice without worrying if it would be renewed in future. OK, without further ado, here's more on the series.

Brief Story Line

After a large cyber attack in the US that killed thousands, president Evelyn Mitchell (Angela Bassett - Gunpowder Milkshake, American Horror Story TV series etc) decided to appoint non partisan former president George Mullen (Robert De Niro - Amsterdam, The Godfather Part II etc) to lead an indenpendent commission and investigate the persons behind and stop further attacks. George's daughter Congresswoman Alexandra (Lizzy Caplan - Now You See Me 2, Cobweb etc) though, was against him leading the commission as he already retired and living peacefully with his wife Sheila (Joan Allen -  Nixon, The Contender etc). However, George's trusted assistant Roger (Jesse Plemons - Windfall, Game Night etc) encouraged him to take the position which he ultimately did.

The Gorge - An Enjoyable Combination of Love Story with Some Intense Action Sequence

I only saw this movie last night after my weekend vacation out of town with my wife. It was released by AppleTV+ during Valentine's day which I thought was a bit funny considering other streaming was promoting their line up for romance/romantic comedy genre. Anyway, I'll just get on with it then.

Brief Story Line

Levi Kane (Miles Teller - Top Gun: Maverick, Fantastic Four 2015 version etc), a sniper with terrific record was hired by mysterious woman called Bartholomew (Sigourney Weaver - Avatar: The Way of Water, Alien etc) for a seemingly simple job. He was to be stationed in an unknown location to be guardian of a large building called the Gorge for a year, replacing the previous guard named J. D (Sope Dirisu - Mr. Malcolm's List, Gangs of London TV series etc). There was another Gorge on the East side which was guarded by Lithuanian elite sniper named Drasa (Anya Taylor-joy - Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, The Menu etc) while Levi was on the West side. 

Captain America: Brave New World - Entertaining in Term of Action but not So Great on Other Aspects

Last night my wife and I went to see this new movie that was just released in Indonesian cinemas. It was not because we were so excited that we could not wait, but merely due to us having a planned out of town trip during the weekend. Since it was having Advance Ticket Sales from a week before, we were able to buy the tickets easier and good thing we did cause the studio was quite full. All right then, I'll just get right to it.

(TV SERIES) The Day of the Jackal Season 1 - An Entertaining and Critically Acclaimed Thriller Series Based on Best Selling Novel

While browsing for interesting new thing on Max few weeks ago, I saw this series that immediately intrigued me. But when I wanted to give it a try, apparently not all the episodes have been made available. I rechecked the status last Sunday and the first season was finally complete. So I started watching and finished it last night. Without further ado, here's more on the series.

Story focused on a professional assassin with code name Jackal (Eddie Redmayne - Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, The Good Nurse etc) who had shown his amazing skill by killing from a long distance. After the latest assassination, MI6 was asked for help by the Germans where Bianca Pullman (Lashana Lynch - No Time to Die, Bob Marley: One Love etc), a weapons expert believed she could find out more and convinced her supervisor Osita Halcrow (Chukwudi Iwuji - Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, The Split TV series etc) and their ultimate boss Deputy Chief of Staff Isabel Kirby (Lia Williams - The Crown TV series etc) to kick start the investigation. Later with the help from Vincent Pyne (Nick Blood - Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D TV series etc) they went on various dangerous operations to find the Jackal.

Firefighters - The Story of A South Korean Group of Fire Fighters Based on True Events

There were few new films released in Indonesian cinemas last week but my wife and I decided to only see this one on Saturday due to various reasons. It was a South Korean movie that I was intrigued to find out, while my wife was interested after seeing the cast list. OK, so here's more on the film.

Brief Story Line

Story was set through the years of 2000 to 2001 about a group of Rescue Unit of a fire station in Seoul. They consisted of Commander Kang (Yoo Jae-myung - Harbin, The Sound of Magic TV series etc), Captain Jeong (Kwak Do-won - The Golden Holiday, Never Give Up TV series etc), team members that included the kind hearted Yong-tae (Kim Min-jae - The Roundup: Punishment, The Fiery Priest TV series etc), Song Ki-cheol (Lee Joon-hyuk - The Roundup: No Way Out, Vigilante TV series etc) who was dubbed as poster boy due to his good looks, Hyo-jong (Oh Dae-hwan - I, The Executioner, The Tale of Lady Ok TV series etc), rookie Choi Cheol-woong (Joo Won - Carter, My Sassy Girl TV series etc) and several others.

Nosferatu - A Gothic Horror that should Satisfy Fans of Such Genre

I have read about this movie on various news and social media which made me interested in watching. It took a while for the film to be released in Indonesian cinemas, but finally it was available for showing mid of the week. I saw this yesterday without the company of my wife as it was a horror genre that she is not a really fan of. All right, I'll get more to it now.

Set in 1838, Thomas Hutter (Nicholas Hoult -  Juror #2, The Garfield Movie etc) and his newly married wife Ellen (Lily-Rose Depp - Voyagers, The Idol TV series etc) were living in Wisburg, Germany. As tasked by the firm he worked for, Thomas decided to go to Transylvania and get the signature of Count Orlok (Bill Skarsgård - John Wick: Chapter 4, It etc) for a manor deed. Despite Ellen's plea for Thomas to stay with her, Thomas still went ahead and leave Ellen staying at the home of his best friend Friedrich (Aaron Taylor-Johnson - Kraven the Hunter, The Wall etc) and his family.

(TV SERIES) The Trauma Code: Heroes On Call Season 1 - A Fast Paced and Entertaining Action Packed Medical Drama Series

I have seen the notification of this new South Korean series released on Netflix more than a week ago, but I was busy finishing other series at that time so I delayed watching it till I was ready. My wife who was interested in the series, got the chance to watch it few days after it was released. And she recommended me to give it a try. So I finally decided to do it on Saturday and finished the day after. Without further ado, here's more on the series.

Brief Story Line

Dr. Baek Kang-hyuk (Ju Ji-hoon - Light Shop TV series, Project Silence etc) was a Trauma surgeon who used to be part of Doctors for International Peace and worked in extremely dangerous war zones. Due to his past experience and capabilities, Dr. Baek was recommended by Minister of Health and Welfare Kang Myeong-hui (Kim Sun-young - Concrete Utopia, A Virtuous Business TV series etc) to be the head of Trauma Center of Hankuk National University Hospital and improve its performance. Although the hospital's Director Dr. Choi (Kim Eui-sung - Taxi Driver TV series, Alienoid etc) was not too keen, he had no choice but to accept this appointment. 

Forbidden Fairytale - An Adult Themed Comedy Movie with Interesting Enough Story

Last weekend, my wife and I were interested to see this new South Korean movie which looked fun. However it was not so easy to do since there were only few cinemas showing the film and most of them played at night. Luckily there was one studio that showed this movie at noon and located not that far from our home so we were able to see this as planned. All right then, let's get on with the movie.

Dan-bi (Park Ji-hyun - Hidden Face, Flex X Cop TV series etc) was an aspiring children story writer who was just hired to work in Youth Protection Program. To her surprise the job description was not what she expected at all. During her work, she was mentored by her senior Jung-seok (Choi Si-won aka Siwon - Bloodhounds TV series, DNA Lover  TV series etc) who had been working for many years in the same department.

Faceless - A Critical Acclaimed Movie Based on Hit Novel Which Sadly did not Truly Resonate with Me as Casual Audience

Like any other Friday, I was looking forward to new film released on Netflix. Yesterday it was a Japanese 2024 movie which looked interesting from its synopsis. So after doing my usual things after work, I immediately watched this. OK I'll just get on with it then.

Keiichi Kaburagi (Ryusei Yokohama - Usogui, Cursed in Love TV series etc) was a convicted criminal who escaped from prison and tried to hide himself while looking for ways to find proof of his innocence. He was being pursued by Detective Matanuki (Takayuki Yamada - Land of Tanabata TV series, The Naked Director TV series etc) who was being pushed by his superiors to capture Kaburagi urgently as it became national headline.

(2025) Flight Risk - Pretty Entertaining Action Thriller Movie in Confined Space

The second film that my wife and I saw on Saturday during our movie marathon was this action thriller that intrigued me ever since I saw its trailer. It seemed promising with well known cast and interesting plot. Well without further ado, here's more on the movie.

Brief Story Line

Madolyn Harris (Michelle Dockery - The Gentlemen, Downtown Abbey series etc) was a US Marshall tasked to apprehend and bring Winston (Topher Grace - Spider-man 3, That 70s Show TV series etc), the accountant for crime boss as the witness to testify against him. Due to its remote location in Alaska, Madolyn had to charter a small plane to another town where they were supposed to go to New York. The plane's pilot Daryl (Mark Wahlberg - The Union, All the Money in the World etc) came soon after as they embarked on a 1.5 hour flight to the location.

Paddington in Peru - A Wonderful Ending to Complete the Trilogy of this Beloved Character

This week there were few new films released in Indonesian theaters that intrigued us. So my wife and I had another one of our movie marathon day with this being the first that we saw. Without further ado, here's more on it.

Brief Story Line

After spending years with the Brown family that consisted of Henry (Hugh Bonneville - Downtown Abbey TV series etc), Mary (Emily Mortimer - Mary Poppins Returns, The Newsroom TV series etc), their children Judy (Madeleine Harris) & Jonathan (Samuel Joslin) and the housekeeper Mrs. Bird (Julie Walters - The Secret Garden, Educating Rita etc), Paddington (Ben Whishaw - Black Doves TV series, The Personal History of David Copperfield etc) was having the best time of his life. But when he received information from Reverend Mother (Olivia Colman - Secret Invasion mini series, Ron's Gone Wrong etc) about his aunt Lucy (Imelda Staunton -  Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nuggest, The Crown TV series etc) whose health was decreasing, Paddington decided to visit her.

This week there were two new Western movies released in Indonesia but only this one that I was interested in. My wife who is not a real fan of horror genre was not truly excited to see this one. However, since it's not a supernatural horror type, she was willing to accompany me yesterday. OK, why don't I just get to it then.

But when Blake got news about Grady after falling out for years, he decided to go to their old house together with his wife Charlotte (Julia Garner -  Ozark TV series, The Royal Hotel etc) and their young daughter Ginger (Matilda Firth - Subservience etc).

(2025) Back In Action - A Fun Action Comedy that Marked the Return of Cameron Diaz

Finally a brand new movie was released on Netflix yesterday which looked really interesting for me after few weeks without them. So as soon as I was ready last night, I started watching it. OK, will go into the details now.

Brief Story Line

Matt (Jamie Foxx - Spider-man: No Way Home, Sleepless etc) and his wife Emily (Cameron Diaz - There's Something About Mary, Shrek movies etc) were former CIA agents who stopped their work and started a family having two children, the 14 year old Alice (McKenna Roberts - Skyscraper etc) and 12 year old Leo (Ryland Jackson). One day, their CIA old friend Chuck (Kyle Chandler - The Midnight Sky, Game Night etc) suddenly told Matt and Emily that they were being chased by their old enemy. 

(TV SERIES) AARO - All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office Season 1 - Interesting Series Focusing on Investigation of Mysterious and Supernatural Cases

I noticed in the past few months there were several new interesting Japanese shows released on Netflix. This was one of them that I was eagerly anticipating till the finale. Finally after waiting for a while, the last episode was made available last week. So I started watching on Friday and finished it on Sunday night. OK, why don't I just get to it then?

Brief Story Line

In Japan, there was an old secret organization called Zenketsu (translated to English as All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office/AARO) where it focused on investigating mysterious cases. Its Deputy Chief Miyabi Okitama (Tatsuya Fujiwara - School Police TV series, Memoirs of a Murderer etc) was their lead investigator with amazing deduction ability and vast knowledge on historic supernatural stuff. To assist them, Koyume Ameno (Alice Hirose - Bubble, 366 Days TV series etc) from PR Dept of Metropolitan PD was assigned to AARO even though she had no prior experience in investigations.

Den of Thieves 2: Pantera - Sequel to the 2018 Heist Action Movie that is Better Appreciated by Critics though Slightly Less Entertaining for Action Fans

When I saw the poster to this movie in the cinemas, I was quite surprised as I did not think the original was such a big hit that warrant a sequel. Plus we saw it quite long time ago (back in 2018) that my wife and I have completely forgotten the story. Anyway, we were still interested in seeing it in the theaters so we went ahead and do it yesterday. All right, I'll get on with it then.

After the events of the first movie, Big Nick (Gerard Butler - Kandahar, Last Seen Alive etc) found that the mastermind of the previous heist on Federal Reserves Bank, Donnie (O'Shea Jackson Jr. - Long Shot, Cocaine Bear etc) was planning another hit in Europe. After some brief investigation, Nick managed to find Donnie in Nice, France getting ready for a diamond heist.

(MINI SERIES) Missing You - A Pretty Decent Adaptation of Harlan Coben's Novel

This latest series from Netflix was released beginning of the year and immediately reached the Top 10 Watched in Indonesia. Since the premise sounded intriguing and people seemed to dig it, I decided to give it a try after finishing another series. It did not take long for me to finish and I managed to complete it during the weekend. OK so here's more on the series. 

Brief Story Line

Kat Donovan (Rosalind Eleazar - Class of '09 mini series, Slow Horses TV series etc) was the lead Detective for a missing person case and reporting to her superior Detective Chief Stagger (Richard Armitage - Ocean's 8, Berlin Station TV series etc). While investigating, a teenaged boy named Brendan (Oscar Kennedy) approached Kat specifically and requested her help to find his missing mother. Despite her skepticism, Kat still tried to help Brendan.

Harbin - Slow Paced Historical Drama Movie with Intriguing Plot

On New Year's day, there were two movies released in Indonesian cinemas which interest me and my wife. As mentioned in my previous post, we saw both of them on another one of our movie marathon last Saturday. All right then, I'll just head on to the second film now.

Brief Story Line

Story was set in the year 1909 during the time when Korea was part of the Japanese empire and focused on the Korean resistance fighters. One of their leaders was Ahn Jung-geun (Hyun Bin - Rampant, Crash Landing on You TV series etc) who had pledged and made plans to assassinate the Prime Minister of Japan, Ito Hirobumi (Lily Franky - Tokyo Swindlers TV series, Call Me Chihiro etc) in Harbin where he was scheduled to meet with Minister of Russia.

The Prosecutor - A Very Entertaining Action Thriller Movie from Donnie Yen

I was quite surprised to see glimpses of trailer to this movie on the TV behind the cinema's cashier while buying tickets for another film last week, cause it starred one of my favorite Hong Kong actor Donnie Yen which I was not aware of. Obviously my wife and I would not want to miss it, so we readied ourselves yesterday for a movie marathon. Without further ado, here's more on the movie.

Brief Story Line

Fok Chi-ho (Donnie Yen - John Wick: Chapter 4, Come Back Home etc) was a former police who decided to become a prosecutor in Department of Justice. In his first assignment, Fok was working together with his senior Bao Ding (Kent Cheng - I Did it My Way, Chasing the Dragon etc) to prosecute a young man named Ma Jia Jie (Mason Fung - Zero to Hero etc) involved in drug trafficking case. Ma was assisted by experienced lawyer Au Bo Wen (Julian Cheung - Final Score, L Storm movies etc) and his associate Lee Si Min (Shirley Chan - My Indian Boyfriend etc).
