I Still See You - Not an Impressive Supernatural Mystery Thriller Movie

Finally this movie was shown in Indonesian theaters after promoted under the "Coming Soon" section for many months now. Its trailer had also been shown many times and I almost forgot this movie existed until yesterday when it was announced the film had premiered. As it also played in the theater nearest our home, it was very convenient for us. But my wife was not a fan of a movie that seemed to be having supernatural horror, so I saw this by myself. OK, let us go on with the movie.

Brief Story Line

10 years after an explosion accident in a laboratory in Chicago, a lot of people fell victims and their ghosts/residue haunting the city and reliving their last moments before the accident. These remains were called as "remnants". A high school girl named Veronica "Ronnie" (Bella Thorne - Amityville: The Awakening, My Own Worst Enemy TV Series etc) was confused with the appearance of a new mysterious remnant in her house that she suspected of trying to hurt her. She befriended with the new guy in school named Kirk (Richard Harmon - Continuum TV series, The 100 TV series etc) who seemed to know a lot about remnants.

Foxtrot Six - An Indonesian Action Movie with a touch of Hollywood

This was a movie where its trailer had been shown many times in the cinema. When I saw the trailer, it gave me the impression of a full action Indonesian movie. Obviously it quite intrigued me and so I requested my wife's help to buy the tickets for us. Well let us get on with the movie and see if it lived up to my expectations. Warning spoiler on the story. Brief Story Line (SpoilerAlert!)

Set in the year 2031, Indonesia was in dire state where food had become scarce commodity. The country was led by some corrupt officials from Piranas party and a group of rebels who was called Reform were trying to save the country. Angga (Oka Antara - Aruna dan Lidahnya etc) a former marine turned congressman, proposed to capture the Reform leaders. But he would later find out that things were not what it seemed to be.

(TV SERIES) The Magicians Season 1 - A Wonderfully Done & Dark Story of Magic

As I was looking through the list of series shown on 1 of my most favorite channel SyFy, I found out that there was this one which somehow eluded me. It was already shown since end of 2015 and currently in its fourth season. It really looked intriguing as the story was about magic. I finished the first season in few days time and immediately wanted to write about the series. Ok, let's get on with it now.

Brief Story Line

Quentin Coldwater (Jason Ralph) was an awkward guy who seemed out of place anywhere. His only best friend was Julia (Stella Maeve - The Runaways etc) whom he knew since childhood. One day Quentin was somehow "transported" into a magical campus called Brakebill University where people could enroll to become a magician. He would later on meet with senior students Eliot (Hale Appleman) and Margo (Summer Bishil - The Last Airbender etc) who loved to have fun.

Cold Pursuit - Not Your Average Liam Neeson's Action Movie

Last Friday, this movie premiered in the largest Indonesian cinema chain but it did not play in the theater near our home. And I was not really in the mood to go far just to see the movie, not when it was a not-so-new movie anyway. So when it did play in that particular cinema, my wife and I bought the tickets for last night's show at 7.05 PM. Well let us move on with the film.

Brief Story Line

Nels Coxman (Liam Neeson - The Commuter, Taken trilogy etc) was just a regular guy who worked as cleaner of the snow on the roads of Kehoe city and living peacefully with his wife Grace (Laura Dern - Star Wars: The Last Jedi etc). However their lives were torn apart when their only son was mixed up with a major cocaine distributors led by Trevor aka Viking (Tom Bateman - Murder on the Orient Express etc). Nels made it his mission to personally destroy Viking and all his men responsible for destroying their lives.

(Special Screening) Extreme Job - A Really Hilarious Action Comedy Movie

While I was at work on Thursday, my wife informed me there was a special screening event on Saturday. It was a movie that intrigued me due to its huge box office success in South Korea. So we both were very excited to get the chance to see it before its official premiere date in Indonesia on 20th February 2019. After waiting a while, the studio finally opened at around 1.10 PM which was only a bit behind schedule, but apparently due to valid reason as there was surprise giveaways to audience prepared before the start of the show (which sadly my wife and I did not won it). OK, let's move on with the movie.

Brief Story Line

A bunch of narcotic police division group led by Captain Go (Ryu Seung-ryong - Miracle in Cell No. 7, The Target etc) that consisted of the surveillance guy Detective Yang Ho (Lee Dong-hwi - Reply 1988 TV series etc), the rather crazy Detective Ma (Jin Seon-Kyu - The Merciless etc), the only female in the group, Detective Jang (Lee Hanee - The Rebel TV series etc) and the rookie Jae-hoon (Gong Myung - The Bride of Habaek TV series etc) seemed to always screwing up their job assignments. So when they were given some kind of last chance to stakeout and capture the notorious Mubae (Shin Ha-kyun - Brain TV series etc) they did not hesitate.

Happy Death Day 2U - A More Comedic Sequel to that Fun & Unique Slasher/Time Loop Movie

This was a sequel to the movie that I loved 2 years ago and I was definitely intrigued to see what would be in store for that fun college student who had to relive her birthday. Anyway when the movie was informed to be premiering on this week's Wednesday, my wife and I bought the ticket for the 7.15 PM show at the theater nearest to our home. So let us get down to the movie now.

Brief Story Line

Exactly after the events from Happy Death Day, it would appear that the day had reset again for Tree (Jessica Rothe - Forever My Girl, Mary + Jane TV series etc). This time it also involved Ryan (Phi Vu), who was the roommate of Carter (Israel Broussard - Extinction, To All the Boys I've Loved Before etc). Tree tried her best to find out what was the reason for her new time loop and she got the help from Ryan and his two friends Samar (Suraj Sharma - Life of Pi etc) and Dre (Sarah Yarkin).

(TV SERIES) Titans Season 1 - A Dark & Violent Series Focusing on the Superhero Sidekicks

I knew about this series for quite some time now, but I only got the chance to watch it in the past few days. It was the first series shown in the DC streaming service back in 2018. I was already interested in watching this one as it was about Batman's sidekick Robin and his friends, but as the rating was also quite good, it made me even more excited. So let us move on with the story.

Brief Story Line

Dick Grayson (Brenton Thwaites - Office Uprising, Gods of Egypt etc) had moved on to Detroit, leaving Batman and Gotham city for good. He worked as a police detective and wanted to quit being Robin due to the violence it brought out of him. But when a teenaged girl named Rachel Roth (Teagen Croft) ran away from home and somehow met with Dick, he could not help but try to assist her. Especially since she was being chased by many dangerous people, including Kory (Anna Diop - 24: Legacy etc) a mysterious woman with unique ability but having memory loss.

Alita: Battle Angel - A Wonderfully Crafted Manga Adaptation with Some of the Best Visual Effects

This was a movie that was supposed to play in December 2018, but from what I understood from internet, it was rescheduled to February 2019 due to too many major movies playing in that particular month. I thought it was an awesome decision as we should be able to see this without the distraction of other movies. However, as it premiered on the Chinese New Year holiday in Indonesia and I felt that we were already late anyway, we decided to see this only yesterday by utilizing cinema vouchers we got from CGV. OK, let's start with the movie now.

Brief Story Line

Set in the 26th century, after a major war called "The Fall" that destroyed most of cities in the world, a cyborg specialist named Dr. Dyson Ido (Christoph Waltz - Downsizing, Inglourious Basterds etc) found the remains of a female cyborg and decided to bring it back to life. He gave her a robotic body and named her Alita (Rosa Salazar - CHiPs movie, Bird Box etc). Alita who had memory loss, later befriended with Hugo (Keean Johnson - Guidance TV series etc), a teenaged boy who also taught her a dangerous sport called Motorball. As Alita starting to remember her own history, she slowly realize that she was not meant to be just a normal girl that Dr. Ido wished her. Especially when she was unintentionally involved with some Hunter-warriors whose jobs were collecting bounties on cyborgs, including the dangerous Zapata (Ed Skrein - The Transporter Refueled, Deadpool etc). 

The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part - Another Fun Movie from the Lego Universe

I was kind of looking forward to this movie after my wife and I saw its trailer few times earlier as it reminded us about the funny characters in the first movie. So when it finally premiered yesterday, I was quite happy when it had a 7PM show in the theater near our home which would be easy for us to go to. Well we should start with the movie now.

Brief Story Line

After the events of the original movie, the city Bricksburg had been having multiple attacks from Duplo invaders for five years which made the city became ruined and the citizens very tough. Except for Emmet (Chris Pratt - Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Passengers etc) who remained very positive and still thought everything was awesome, despite his girlfriend Lucy (Elizabeth Banks - Pitch Perfect 3, Walk of Shame etc) who wished for Emmet to become more mature. 

The Knight of Shadows: Between Yin and Yang - A Jackie Chan's Fantasy Movie

I was not aware of this movie existence till a day before Chinese New Year when I saw its poster in the "coming soon" section. As it premiered on the holiday itself, my wife and I were unable to see it due to our tradition of reuniting with our families the whole day. Anyway, we did see it on its second day, which was last night. So let's get on with the movie now.

Brief Story Line

Pu Songling (Jackie Chan - The Foreigner, Kungfu Yoga etc) was a demon/monster hunter who lived near Pi Huan city and befriended with some of the demons/monsters he caught previously. Meanwhile in the city, an assistant to the local sheriff named Yan Fei (Austin Lin - At Cafe 6 etc) was investigating petty theft cases when he bumped into Songling and immediately decided to become his apprentice, despite the reluctance of Songling.
