AKA - A Better than Expected French Action Thriller Movie

I was a bit skeptical about this movie since I was not familiar with the lead cast at all and not really that interested with the seemingly standard premise. Nevertheless, as there was no other new movies (aside from the one I posted yesterday) that intrigued me, I decided to give it a try after all. And so how was this movie? Let's find out more, shall we?

Brief Story Line

Adam Franco (Alban Lenoir - French Blood, Hero Corp TV series etc) was a French special ops agent who had been placed in Africa for many years. But when a plan to kill Sudanese terrorist named Moktar Al Tayeb (Kevin Layne) in France failed, Adam was asked to return home to infiltrate a crime syndicate led by Victor Pastore (Eric Cantona) who was Moktar's old friend.

Peter Pan & Wendy - Not the Greatest Live Action Remake of Disney's Animated Classics

I saw this movie in the coming soon section of Disney+ few days ago and thought of giving it a try. Since there was no other new movies in cinemas or other streaming platforms that really intrigued me, I immediately watch it on its day of release last night. OK now, let's get to it.

Brief Story Line

In the early 20th century London, Wendy Darlings (Ever Anderson - The Black Widow) was spending her last night at home with her younger brothers John (Joshua Pickering) and Michael (Jacobi Jupe) playing around as she was supposed to go to nursery school the day after. However, she was not really keen on growing up despite the demand from her father (Alan Tudyk - Strange World, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story etc) and mother (Molly Parker - Lost in Space TV series, Deadwood TV series etc).

Kill Boksoon - An Action Thriller Movie with Interesting Plot and Some Stylish Fight Sequence but a bit too few to Satisfy Hard Core Action Fans

I have been meaning to watch this movie that was released on Netflix few weeks ago, but as I was travelling then and catching up with other series, I only got the chance to do this last night. And so here's more on the movie. 

Brief Story Line

Gil Boksoon (Jeon Do-yeon - Emergency Declaration, Crash Course in Romance TV series etc) was a ruthless killer who was part of an assassin organization called MK. ENT led by its commissary Cha Min-kyu (Sol Kyung-gu - Phantom, The Book of Fish etc) and his sister, director Cha Min-hee (Esom - Because This is My First Life TV series, Like for Likes etc). Boksoon was highly respected by other assassins including Han Hee-sung (Koo Kyo-hwan - Train to Busan: Peninsula, D. P TV series etc) who felt that he was good enough to get the best assignments but unfortunately had to settle with low grade type. 

Ghosted - A Fun Enough Romantic Action Adventure Movie though not as Totally Awesome as I Expected

Yesterday, there was this new exciting movie released on Apple TV+ which from its trailer looked very interesting and fun. So I did not hesitate to give it a try, especially since the lead cast were people that I am very familiar with. All right then, will get straight to it.

Brief Story Line

Cole Turner (Chris Evans - Lightyear, Knives Out etc) was a man who had been working in his parents' farm for years and never even travelled outside the country. But when he met the lively Sadie (Ana de Armas - Blonde, Deep Water etc), Cole immediately fell for her. After a whole day's date that went really well, Cole sadly was ghosted by Sadie. 

Encouraged by his family, Cole decided to go after her in London but unfortunately he was mistakenly thought to be a secret agent by group of criminals led by Leveque (Adrien Brody - See How They Run, The Predator etc) and his right hand man Wagner (Mike Moh - Street Fighter: Resurrection series etc).

Ride On - A Family Friendly Action Comedy with Jackie Chan in a Much More Dramatic Role

Those who have read my posts regularly enough would have known that my wife and I are major fans of Jackie Chan and I think we never missed watching his latter movies in the cinemas. This time we already planned to see his newest movie in the theater and good thing as it was shown in plenty of locations so we did not have difficulty to search for it. After days of playing in Indonesia, we finally saw it yesterday noon. All right, let get on with it.

Brief Story Line

Lao Luo (Jackie Chan - The Foreigner, The Lego Ninjago Movie etc) was an aging stunt man and having difficulties to get work. He had to rely on his beloved horse Red Hare to work on odd jobs but still owed people money and being chased around by debt collectors led by Dami (Andy On - As the Light Goes Out, Black Hat etc). Unfortunately Red Hare was the subject of ownership feud and Lao Luo had no choice but to seek the help from his estranged daughter Xiao Bao (Liu Haocun - Cliff Walkers, One Second etc) who in turn also asked her lawyer boyfriend Naihua (Kevin Guo - My Heroic Husband TV series etc).

65 - Not too Awesome Action Sci-Fi Movie but Still Had Some Entertaining Value

When this movie was released few days ago in Indonesia, I was quite busy with work and unable to see it. Yesterday I decided to see it by myself as my wife was feeling tired after going out all day. The film was actually not a brand new one as it was already released in other countries last month, but since the plot was something I am interested in, I was still intrigued by it. OK, let's get right to it.

In the planet Somaris, Mills (Adam Driver - The Last Duel, House of Gucci etc) who was a pilot for transport airship decided to go for a 2 year trip to a faraway location. On his way back, the ship was hit by asteroid and stranded on earth 65 million years ago. As he was scouting the area, Mills found there was only 1 other survivor, a young girl named Koa (Ariana Greenblatt).

The Super Mario Bros. Movie - A Fun Adventure Movie that Should Satisfy for Fans of the Hugely Popular Games from Nintendo

This move had been on my radar since few weeks ago when its trailer appeared more and more in the cinemas. So when it was finally released, my wife who is a fan of the game the movie was based on, did not need encouragement to see it with me. We saw this yesterday at the cinema nearest to our home. And now lets get to the movie.

Brief Story Line

Mario (Chris Pratt - The Tomorrow War, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom etc) and his brother Luigi (Charlie Day - Pacific Rising Uprising, The Lego Movie etc) just started their own plumbing business in Brooklyn. When they were working on some plumbing problem, both of them were somehow transported through pipes into different world, but unfortunately they were separated. While Luigi was trapped in Dark Kingdom ruled by Bowser (Jack Black - Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween, Shallow Hal etc) the king of Koopa, Mario arrived at the Mushroom Kingdom led by Princess Peach (Anya Taylor-Joy -Amsterdam, Glass etc).

(TV SERIES) The Night Agent Season 1 - An Interesting and Fresh Action Thriller Series with Intriguing Story

There were so many new movies and series released on various streaming platforms in the past few weeks and it was very hard to keep up with them. But as I was looking into those new shows, one caught my attention in Netflix since it became number one in Indonesia despite released only a bit over a week. So I decided to watch this one from few days ago and finished it last night. Well I would just get into it then.

Brief Story Line

FBI agent Peter Sutherland (Gabriel Basso - The Whole Truth, The Big C TV series etc) was working the night shift "guarding" a phone in the white house that almost never rang. However, one night the phone did ring from a former owner of cyber security company, Rose Larkin (Luciane Buchanan - The New Legends of Monkey King TV series etc) who was being chased by two assassins Dale (Phoenix Raei - Clickbait mini series etc) and Ellen (Eve Harlow - The Tomorrow Man etc). Peter who was working for president's chief of staff Diane Farr (Hong Chau - The Menu, The Whale etc) tried to help her and was soon caught up in something beyond his wildest imagination.

John Wick: Chapter 4 - An Even Grander Action Movie than its Predecessors

My wife and I were highly anticipating this movie as we loved all the three movies before, so we were really looking forward to see it in the cinema. Unfortunately though, it was released during our holiday trip. We thought we could see it in the country where we went to, but it was scheduled to be released only after we left. So we ended up seeing this more than 10 days later, after our return to Indonesia. OK, without further ado, lets get to the movie.

Brief Story Line

After the events of Chapter 3, John Wick (Keanu Reeves - DC League of Super Pets, The Matrix Resurrections etc) went to hiding at Intercontinental hotel in Osaka, managed by his old friend Koji (Hiroyuki Sanada - Bullet Train, Mortal Kombat 2021 etc), although it was against the wish of Koji's daughter Akira (Rina Samayama).

Meanwhile the High Table had appointed Marquis Vincent de Gramont (Bill Skarsgård  - Barbarian, Castle Rock TV series etc) to take care of John Wick, where he enlisted retired assassin Caine (Donnie Yen - Sakra, Big Brother etc) to kill him. Things gotten complicated when a mysterious person with ulterior motive who called himself Mr. Nobody (Shamier Anderson - Awake, Stowaway etc) managed to track John.

Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves - A Very Fun and Entertaining Adventure Movie Based on Popular Role Playing Game

This was the first movie that we saw in theater after my wife and I got back from our holiday trip. It was released just few days ago, so we were not that late in seeing this one. We decided to see the 1 PM show cause we want to have a movie marathon and watch another film after this one. OK, why don't I just get started.

Brief Story Line

Edgin Darvis (Chris Pine - Don't Worry Darling, Wonder Woman 1984 etc) was a thief working together with a group that consisted of his young daughter Kira (Chloe Coleman - Gunpowder Milkshake, Marry Me etc), the barbarian Holga (Michelle Rodriguez - The Fast and Furious movies etc), young sorcerer Simon (Justice Smith - The Voyeours, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom etc) and con-man Forge (Hugh Grant - Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre, The Gentlemen etc). They later were joined by the wizard Sofina (Daisy Head - Shadow and Bone TV series, Underworld: Blood Wars etc) who told them about a magical relic that intrigued Edgin. However their heist went wrong and they became separated.

Murder Mystery 2 - Still Fun Sequel to the Comedy Mystery Movie of Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston

As I liked the original a lot, I did not hesitate to give this sequel a try immediately once it was released on Netflix yesterday. It was actually the first movie I watched after arriving back home from my 2 weeks holiday earlier. Anyway, let's get down to it now.

Brief Story Line

Four years after the events of the first film, Nick Spitz (Adam Sandler - Hubie Halloween, Hustle etc) and his wife Audrey (Jennifer Aniston - Dumplin', Horrible Bosses etc.) were focusing on their detective agency business when they were invited to the wedding of the Maharajah, Vikram (Adeel Akhtar - Enola Holmes 2, Sweet Tooth TV series etc) in his private island. The Spitzes were later introduced to Vikram's fiancee Claudette (Mélanie Laurent - Oxygen TV series, Now You See Me etc), his younger sister Saira (Kuhoo Verma - Plan B etc), the board director Francisco (Enrique Arce - On The Line etc), Countess Sekou (Jodie Turner-Smith - Without Remorse etc) and her sidekick Imani (Zurin Villanueva) and Colonel Ulenga (John Kani - Black Panther etc).
