The Firm - Successful Adaptation of John Grisham's Best Selling Novel

I have mentioned in few of my previous posts that there was a cable TV channel which showed movies from the 1990s and before. So I quite regularly check every night at 7PM on the movie that I could watch. Last night it happened to be this film that I did not see in theaters during its screen time, most probably because during those period, I only went to cinemas and saw huge blockbuster action movies. Anyway, I decided to watch it and want to write about the film.

Brief Story Line

A young Harvard law student Mitch McDeere (Tom Cruise - American Made, Jack Reacher: Never Go Back etc) was about to be one of the top 5 graduate of his class and got lots of offers from big law firms but he decided to join a smaller firm. Together with his wife Abby (Jeanne Tripplehorn - Waterworld, Big Love TV series etc) they moved to Memphis and started new life there. Despite feeling a little uneasy with the firm due to its seemingly interference in personal life, Abby still fully supported Mitch.

(TV SERIES) FBI Season 1 - Another Good Quality Drama from Dick Wolf

I noticed about this series in one of the cable TV some time ago and I did not think too much of it. That is until I was starting to run out of series to catch up especially since the latest seasons have not been completely shown due to covid-19 outbreak. So I gave this one a try since mid of last week. It took me longer than I anticipated as it was having 22 episodes in the first season. OK I will start with the show now.

Brief Synopsis

The series focused on the office of FBI in New York where they work to handle and solve various Federal cases. The elite team consisted of two field Agents Maggie Bell (Missy Peregrym - Rookie Blue TV series etc) and her partner OA Zidan (Zeeko Zaki) who were usually the first ones at the crime scene.

My Spy - Just Another Spy Comedy Movie with Familiar Recipe but Still Fun Enough

Last night I was told by one of my wife's best friend that some new movies are already available online. This was due to the covid-19 outbreak which made some movie producers and distributors decided to release their films digitally rather than the normal theatrical release. Anyway, I decided to watch this one which I had seen its trailer once or twice before. Well let us get on with it then.

Brief Story Line

JJ (Dave Bautista - Final Score, Hotel Artemis etc) was a former special forces soldier who now worked for CIA under the supervision of his boss David Kim (Ken Jeong - Wonder Park, Crazy Rich Asians etc). However he was terrible in doing spy work and was later given a new easy assignment of doing surveillance on a single mother Kate (Parisa Fitz Henley - Fantasy Island movie etc) and her 9 year old daughter Sophie (Chloe Coleman) who might be connected to their relative who happened to be a major terrorist.

Last night there was a new movie that premiered on Fox Movies which I never heard of, but when I saw the very brief synopsis on it, I was really intrigued. And so when the film finally showed at 8PM, I poured my attention to this interesting movie. OK, I'll just get on with it now.

The Dead Zone - A Quite Intelligently done Psychological Thriller adapted from Stephen King's novel with Good Performance from Christopher Walken

During the past 2 weeks while the whole day I worked from home, the rest of the time I spent it by catching up various TV series and watching cable TV. There was 1 channel that I like named Hits Movies which specifically shows movies from the year 1990s and before. It was good for me as it has some movies that I could rewatch or some that I had never seen. Like last night it showed this movie adapted from Stephen King's novel of the same title. Anyway, I really felt like writing this one. So here goes.

Brief Story Line

John Smith (Christopher Walken - The Jungle Book live version, Catch Me if You Can etc) was a school teacher who was in serious relationship with fellow teacher named Sarah (Brooke Adams - Invasion of the Body Snatchers etc). After involved in a heavy accident, John was in a coma for years and being treated in a hospital managed by Dr. Weizak (Herbert Lom). When he finally woke up, John found that everything has changed around him. But the biggest change was he had some kind of psychic ability where he could see someone's past or future.
