(Special Screening) Guns Akimbo - Fun, Entertaining, Freaking Violent and Gore Action Movie with some Stylish Action Sequence

After just seeing the poster to this movie shown in the social media, it was certainly a pleasant surprise when my wife got the invitation to its special screening last night. Prior to the movie's start at 7.15 PM, we were shown several trailers of upcoming movies that would be released in CGV cinemas which also excited us. OK, let's head on with the movie now.

Brief Story Line

Miles (Daniel Racliffe - Harry Potter series etc) who worked in video game developer was a nobody and did not seem to have a life. Until one day, due to an incident, Miles was caught up in an underground fight club managed by the ruthless Riktor (Ned Dennehy). In order to save his life Miles had no choice but to fight against the toughest opponent Nix (Samara Weaving - Ready or Not etc) who seemed to kill people for fun.

Sonic the Hedgehog - A Very Light & Quite Fun Family Friendly Movie Based on the Popular Video Game Character

After combination of busy time at work plus the desire to stay home and take rest during the weekend, I finally decided to see this new movie that just had its wide release in Indonesia yesterday. The 7.15 PM show time at the studio near our home was just nice for me as I would have ample time to reach location from my place of work. Anyway, I will go ahead with this movie now.

Brief Story Line

In the small town of Green Hill, an extraterrestrial blue hedgehog named Sonic (voiced by Ben Schwartz - Park and Recreation TV series etc) had been living on his own. However, after an incident, he found himself being chased by the government who assigned a genius/mad scientist Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey - Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, Liar Liar etc) to find out the reason and ultimately capture him.

Fantasy Island - A Fresh Horror Adaptation of the Popular 70s TV Series

I saw this movie's trailer some time ago and felt it looked like an interesting one. Despite having few scenes that seemed to be supernatural-ish, my wife was still willing to accompany me seeing the film last night when it premiered. Well I will get down to the movie now.

(2019) Little Women - Beautiful and Charming Drama Adapted from Popular Novel

This movie was already playing in US theaters from December last year, and hence I did not expect it to be shown in Indonesia. Hence it was a welcome surprise when it was finally released yesterday as my wife who really loved the novel and I who wanted to find out how good the movie was as it got multiple awards nomination, could get the chance to see it in the cinema. So how was the movie? Let's find out.

Brief Story Line

While their father was away during war, they were left with only their mother who was referred to as Marmee (Laura Dern - Cold Pursuit, Downsizing etc) and house keeper Hannah to take care of them.

Birds of Prey - Chaotic, Cartoonish and Colorful Superhero Movie with Fabulous Performance from Margot Robbie

As one of the latest movie in DC universe, obviously I had my eyes on the film. With advance ticket sales since last week, my wife and I bought the ticket for last night's show, sadly though not at our favorite theater with Dolby Atmos system as that one was likely booked for a special screening of sort. Anyway, we went to another cinema which had a big screen that I liked as well. So let's get down with the movie.

Brief Story Line

After breaking up with Joker, Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie - Once Upon a Time in HollywoodFocus etc) who had been under his protection suddenly found herself in the pursuit of enemies and the police, in particular Detective Renee Montoya (Rosie Perez - White Men Can't Jump, Fearless etc).

Secret Zoo - Fun Idea but Lacking the Hilarious Comedy which could Make This a Fantastic Movie

This was a movie we saw by chance and not really planned as we only knew it from the movie's schedule in the CGV website yesterday. It seemed to be an early screening of sort as it was shown only in several studios. The movie was supposed to have its wide release on 5 February 2020, so we were glad to be able to see it earlier. Anyway, I'll just go the movie now.

Brief Story Line

Kang Tae-soo (Ahn Jae-hong - Fabricated City, Reply 1988 etc) was working as a temp staff in a well known law firm. When one day he got a special assignment to hold the position of zoo director in one of the asset owned by one of the firm's client, Tae-soo took it up as he believed it would enhance his career development.
