Brief Story Line
In the year 2050 where time travel existed, an air force pilot named Adam (Ryan Reynolds - Red Notice, Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard etc) crash landed in the year 2022 where he met with his 12 year old self (Walker Scobell). Young Adam was still struggling with the loss of his father Louis (Mark Ruffalo - Dark Waters, Thor: Ragnarok etc) and giving a hard time to his mother Ellie (Jennifer Garner - Yes Day, Wonder Park etc).
Adult Adam himself was having a personal mission related to his wife Laura (Zoe Saldana - Live by Night, Star Trek Beyond etc) while being hunted by Maya Sorian (Catherine Keener - Brand New Cherry Flavor TV series, The Croods: A New Age etc).

End of Brief Story Line
I have always been fascinated by the subject of time travel which was the reason that when a new movie or TV series have this element, I would be intrigued and wanted to give a try immediately. Added with a likable lead cast, made this movie really exciting for me. And I am glad that it was just as I expected. The time travel part was essential in here where we might have to scratch our head a little bit, but mostly my wife and I could still grasp the major point. Only thing that might be inconsistent with other films/series were the part where usually one is not supposed to meet with the younger/older self which would have dire consequences. However, in general it did not make this movie less entertaining.
I said that the lead cast was likable and for me and my wife, Ryan Reynolds is definitely one of the star that we both loved to see as he could always show his humorous side. It was really fun looking at him portraying this character who met with his younger self and gave some pointers to him. The newcomer Walker Scobell was awesome as well since he managed to convince us as young Adam with his behaviours and in particular his wisecrack comments and attitude. Other cast were equally important and perfect for their roles, such as Jennifer Garner as the mother and especially Mark Ruffalo as the father.
The story here might not be as complicated as other time travel movies, and in fact I think the drama was the major attraction. The characters were interesting and there were some touching moments occasionally (I know my wife was affected by those). We also love the ending of this movie. There was no mid or post end credit scene that might suggest possible sequel and I am happy with that.
The action and special effects in here were fantastic, although this is not a full action movie. Ryan Reynolds obviously had the experience in the action part so it helped making the movie more fun. This film was directed by Shawn Levy who has worked together with Ryan in Free Guy. He was also director of other successful hit movies like Date Night, Night at the Museum trilogy and TV series like Stranger Things. There were several songs played in here though I was not familiar by them. The background music were nice and enhanced the mood at the right moment.
Overall this was an enjoyable movie for both of us. We were entertained by the story, the action, the characters and the not so hard to digest time travel part. It was a nice film to be spent together with your family as it was classified for 13+. So if you are looking for movie like this, surely you would enjoy this one. But if you want to see a really complex time travel movie/series, then this might not be for you. The choice is yours.
