(TV SERIES) Stumptown Season 1 - Surprisingly Delightful PI Series

After few weeks of hectic times at work and completing 2 interesting martial arts series, I returned to my old habitat of watching Western series. I caught glimpses of this series in one of cable TV channel and thought it looked really interesting. Hence I started to watch the whole season and just finished it yesterday. Well what was the series all about? I'll share more on that below.

Brief Story Line

Dex Parios (Cobie Smulders - Jack Reacher: Never Go Back, Spider-man: Far From Home etc) was a former Marine who had gone through 4 tours in Afghanistan as marine intelligence. Having PTSD from her experience at war, she was heavily indebted due to gambling and was "forced" by Sue Lynn Blackbird (Tantoo Cardinal - Wind River etc) the mother of Dex' former boyfriend into finding her kidnapped granddaughter. Despite her reluctance, Dex finally went ahead with this assignment where she met Portland Police detective Miles Hoffman (Michael Ealy - Barbershop, Think Like a Man etc) who was intrigued by her persistence but disapproved by his boss Lieutenant Cosgrove (Camryn Manheim - Ghost Whisperer TV series, The Practice series etc).

Scream: The TV Series Season 1 & 2 - A Quite Satisfying TV Adaptation of the Popular 1990s Slasher Movie

Some time ago, I found out about this series which I later discovered was based on one of my favorite slasher horror movies back in the 90s Scream. Finally I got the chance to catch the series in the past few weeks and finished watching them. Well I'll just get right to it then.

Brief Story Line

After 20 years of peace, the small town of Lakewood became unpleasant when one of the popular high school girl was killed at her own home. Her group of friends that consisted of the kind hearted Emma Duvall (Willa Fitzgerald - Blood Money etc), Emma's boyfriend Will (Connor Weil), the popular & wealthy Brooke (Carlson Young), the jock Jake (Tom Maden) & the cheerful Riley (Brianne Tju) were disturbed by this fact. Especially when Emma started getting phone calls from a person who seemed to know about the murder and was targeting them.

A Witness Out of the Blue - An OK Action Thriller with Some Good Performances from the Cast but a bit Dissatisfying Case Resolving

Last night on Celestial Movies, there was a First and Exclusive premiere of new Hong Kong film that seemed interesting based on the synopsis available. As it has been a while since I saw a good quality movie on that channel (and because it was not released in Indonesian cinemas), I was intrigued to give it a try. Well I will go straight to it then.

Brief Story Line

When a jewelry store robber was found murdered, the gang leader Sean Wong (Louis Koo - Chasing the Dragon II: Wild Wild Bunch, The White Storm etc) became the primary suspect. Captain Yip (Philip Keung - Trivisa, Shock Wave etc) was adamant that Sean was guilty, hence he was very upset when his lead detective Larry Lam (Louis Cheung - L Storm etc) seemed to be less suspicious and focused on the only witness to the murder, a talking parrot.
