My Stupid Boss 2 - A Funnier, Crazier Sequel to that Story of the Outrageous & Ridiculous Bossman

I heard that they were making a sequel to that very funny movie My Stupid Boss about the absurd & crazy boss in the office, with the favorite character for me and my wife: Bossman. So when it premiered yesterday, we immediately bought the tickets for the show. Luckily it did play in the theater near our home at our usual time of around 7 PM which would make it easier for us. Well let's go right into the movie now.

Brief Story Line

Set sometime after the event from the first movie, Bossman (Reza Rahadian - Benyamin Biang Kerok, Critical Eleven etc) was still the same as before and driving everyone in the company crazy. Diana aka Kerani (Bunga Citra Lestari - Cinta Pertama, Bayu Cinta Luna TV series etc), Mr. Kho (Chew Kin Wah - Cek Toko Sebelah etc), Norah Sikin (Atikah Suhaeimi), Azhari (Iskandar Zulkarnaen) and Adrian (now played by Iedil Putra) were all really stressed out by the antics and the unwillingness of Bossman to spend money on important work stuff. This all resulted to the workers frustration and some quitting their job, leaving the work force reduced significantly. Kerani as usual could only complain to her husband Dika (Alex Abbad - Suzzanna: Bernapas Dalam Kubur etc) who happened to be best friend with Bossman.

Dumbo - Another Disney's Live Version of Classic Animated Movie of the Legendary Flying Elephant

Yesterday was the premiere of another Disney movie which was quite famous many years ago. It was a live version of the animated movie and it was intriguing how we would be able to see the flying elephant. Good thing the film was showing in the theater near our home so it was convenient for me and my wife to see it. Well now we should go on with the movie.

Brief Story Line

Set in the year 1919, Holt Farrier (Colin Farrell - Total Recall, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them etc) came back from war to Medici circus where he previously worked with ringmaster Max Medici (Danny DeVito - Taxi TV series, Twins etc). Holt's very young children Milly (Nico Parker) and Joe (Finley Hobbins) were trying their best to cope with the life at circus. As Holt was no longer able to perform his usual act, he was given new task of taking care the elephants, including Jumbo who was pregnant.

Triple Threat - A Quite Well Done Martial Arts Movie Albeit not too Impressive in Other Areas

I have been eyeing for this movie for quite a while since I saw the poster as it had 3 martial art actors in 1 film. But I did not get the chance to see this one until last night. As it did not look like a movie that my wife might have enjoyed, I decided to see it by myself. And so what was the movie about? Let us get into detail below.

Brief Story Line

Payu (Tony Jaa - xXx: Return of Xander Cage etc) and Long Fei (Tiger Chen - Man of Tai Chi etc) were mercenaries hired for a special mission into the forest of Thailand. During this mission a lot of complications arose and they met with an Indonesian security named Jaka (Iko Uwais - The Night Comes for Us etc). 

Five Feet Apart - A Sweet, Sad and Lovely Romantic Drama

At last, after playing in Indonesian theaters for more than a week, I finally got the chance to see this one. It was not shown in all cinema chains but lucky for me and my wife, it was still playing in the theater very near our home. We were actually considering of seeing another movie as well, but since this one had been playing for quite some time, we were worried it would soon be pulled out of the theaters. Anyway, let us get on with the movie now.

Brief Story Line

Stella (Haley Lu Richardson - Split etc) was a 17 year old girl who suffered from an illness called Cystic Fibrosis (CF) and being treated in a hospital where she had to take so many medications and even underwent several surgeries since her childhood years. She had a best friend Poe (Moisés Arias - Hannah Montana TV series etc) who also had the same disease and have known each other for many years.

Us - A Very Original Psychological Thriller Movie from Jordan Peele

This movie actually premiered last Wednesday, but as my wife and I were abroad that time, we only got the chance to see it yesterday. We were told by my wife's sister that it was a great movie and I also saw the raving reviews all across the internet, so we were pretty excited to see this one. We opted for the 5PM show after our lunch event. Now let us move on with the movie.

Brief Story Line

Adelaide (Lupita Nyong'o - The Jungle Book etc), together with her husband Gabe (Winston Duke - Black Panther etc) and their teenage daughter Zora (Shahadi Wright Joseph) & young son Jason (Evan Alex) were going for vacation in Santa Cruz beach. Adelaide was actually pretty reluctant with their trip there, since it reminded her of her bad childhood memory in 1986.

(TV SERIES) Kingdom Season 1 - A Quite Impressive Combination of Power Struggle and Zombie South Korean Original Series from Netflix

Two nights ago, my wife who had been trying to urge me to watch a South Korean TV series (or famously known as DraKor = Drama Korea) finally convinced me to give this one a try. I thought it would be an interesting experience, seeing it was a zombie series and was shown on Netflix a couple of months ago. So both of us started to watch it on Sunday and I finished up last night (though she finished it earlier in the afternoon as she could not wait). Now let's move on to more details of the series.

Brief Story Line

The series was set during the Joseon dynasty period where the crown prince Yi-chang (Ju Ji-hoon - Along with the Gods: The Last 49 Days etc) was having a conflict relating to the King's health with the queen (Kim Hye-jun) and her father, Minister Cho (Ryu Seung-ryong - Extreme Job etc). Suspicious of their motives, Yi-chang embarked on a journey with his trusted bodyguard Moo-young (Kim Sang-ho - The Negotiation etc) to find the doctor who previously treated the King, in the city of Dongnae.

Wonder Park - An Amazingly Animated Kid-friendly Movie Just For Fun

After 2 days playing in Indonesian theaters, my wife and I finally saw this movie yesterday. It was quite unusual for us to not be seeing a new film on its premiere date, but as it did not play in the theater near our home, we had to look for other theaters as alternative. Luckily it played in another cinema chain not that far. OK we shall start with the movie now.

Brief Story Line (to avoid possible spoiler, go direct to below this section for my views)

June (Brianna Denski) was a young kid who had very high imagination and together with her mother (Jennifer Garner - Peppermint etc) created an imaginative amusement park in their minds called Wonder Park. It was filled with various ridiculously wild rides and accompanied by some charming animals such as Boomer (Ken Hudson Campbell) the blue bear with "hibernate disorder", Greta (Mila Kunis - The Spy Who Dumped Me etc) the firm but kind-hearted boar, Steve (John Oliver) the intelligent porcupine, plus the talkative beaver brothers Gus (Kenan Thompson - Grinch animated version etc) and Cooper (Ken Jeong - Goosebumps 2 etc). The host of this Wonder Park was a charming chimpanzee called Peanut (Norbert Leo Butz). All these animals were actually stuffed dolls that June had in her room.

The Adjustment Bureau - A One of A Kind Romantic Thriller based on Phillip K. Dick Short Story

While I was having a weekend staycation last week with my wife in a nice hotel famous for its strategic location in the middle of the city, we were just enjoying ourselves in its very big room and the cable TV options. It was kind of surprising that during that Saturday night, there were quite abundant movies to choose from and I set my mind on this movie which I doubt ever released in Indonesia 8 years ago. Anyway after watching it, I really thought it was something worthwhile for me to write. OK, let us get on with it.

Brief Story Line

David Norris (Matt Damon - Downsizing, The Bourne series etc) was a congressman running for senate and had very bright future. One night he met with a woman (Emily Blunt - Mary Poppins Returns, Edge of Tomorrow etc) that he never saw before and they instantly hit it off during that very short time. As he continued his political career, David was intrigued to find out the woman he was attracted to and somehow by chance he met her again & found out her name was Elise.

Captain Marvel - The Interesting Origin Story of One of the Strongest Avenger

As a movie that had been long anticipated due to the ending of Avengers: Infinity War, surely this one would be a definite must see film for me and my wife. But since its premiere date fell on an even date, it was challenging for us to see it in my favorite Dolby Atmos theater due to the even-odd plate number restriction. So we decided to see it on the following day which happened to be a public holiday. Well let us go on directly to this movie now.

Brief Story Line

Vers (Brie Larson - Kong: Skull Island, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World etc) was a warrior in Kree planet who seemed to be having memory problem. Sometimes she would have dreams that she could not understand which involved a mysterious woman (Annette Bening - Being Julia, The Kids Are All Right etc). While on a mission with her team leader & trainer Yon-Rogg (Jude Law - Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, Cold Mountain etc), Vers was separated and reached the earth where he met with S.H.I.E.L.D agent Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson - too many films to his credits).

(TV SERIES) The Umbrella Academy Season 1 - A Unique, Dark & Unconventional Superhero Series

I saw the news about this series a couple of weeks ago and I thought it seemed quite interesting. Again it was one of those Netflix original series which nowadays translate to a good quality show. Since it was about superheroes and I am definitely a fan of those genre, I was pretty excited and decided to binge watch this on Saturday and finished it in 2 days time. So how was this series? Let us find out more below.

Brief Story Line

Seven children who were born on the same day in 1989 were adopted by billionaire Sir Reginald Hargreeves (Colm Feore - Anon, Trudeau mini series etc). Six of them apparently have some kind of power which made Reginald decided to form them into superhero team called The Umbrella Academy. In 2019, the children who were now adult were reunited once again. Number one aka Luther (Tom Hopper - Black Sails TV series etc) had become astronaut, Number Two aka Diego (David Castañeda) was a vigilante, Number Three aka Allison (Emmy Raver-Lampman) was a successful actress, Number Four aka Klaus (Robert Sheehan - Mortal Engines, The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones etc) was a drug addict and Number Seven aka Vanya (Ellen Page - Flatliners, Juno etc) was now a struggling violinist.

Dilan 1991 - A Review by Yennymakanmulu

Yesterday it was the premiere of one of the most anticipated Indonesian films. It was the sequel to the second highest grossing Indonesian movies of all times Dilan 1990 that was released in 2018. Anyway, since I did not see the first one but my wife was a fan of that film, she went on to see this by herself. What was her views of the movie? Hari ini Dilan 1991 tayang di bioskop2 kesayangan masing2. Gw udah beli tiketnya beberapa hari yang lalu sejak pre-advanced tiketnya dijual. Iya belinya di Tix-ID hahahaha mumpung masi ada saldonya di sono hihihi. Gw pilih nonton pertunjukan pertama di Studio 4 Setiabudi XX1. Jam 11 jalan dari apartemen, gak sampe 5 menit dah. Abis print tiket, langsung masuk deh. Siap2 nonton. Yes, gw nonton sendirian, karena @michaelnontonmulu gak minat. LOL.
