Morbius - Another Anti-hero Story in the Spider-man Universe

When the tickets for this movie were already sold in advance since last weekend, my wife and I did not opt to buy them yet and wanted to see it during this weekend. However, yesterday we checked the available seats in the cinema near our home and to our surprise there were more vacant seats than occupied. So we decided to immediately go and buy the tickets for 5.30 PM right after I reached home from work. OK why don't I get to it now.

Brief Story Line

Michael Morbius (Jared Leto - Blade Runner 2049, House of Gucci etc) was a brilliant doctor who had been searching for cure to his rare blood disease with the help from Doctor Martine (Adria Arjona - 6 Underground, Sweet Girl etc) and the financial support from his childhood best friend Lucien aka Milo (Matt Smith - Official Secrets, The Crown TV series etc). Milo also suffered the same disease and had been taken care by Nicholas (Jared Harris - Allied, Carnival Row TV series etc).

Spiritwalker - An Interesting Mind Bending Action Thriller Movie

I got notification of this movie from Catchplay+ last weekend and after reading its synopsis, I could not help to be intrigued by the premise which was said to be combination of The Bourne Identity and Memento. So after settling the voucher for single rental on the platform, I watched this with my wife on Sunday. Now let's get to it.

Brief Story Line

A man (Yoon Kye-sang - The Outlaws, The Greatest Love TV series etc) woke up from an apparent car accident without any memory after a homeless person (Park Ji-hwan - The Pirates: The Last Royal Treasure etc) was trying to get some stuff from the car. While trying to figure out who he was, somehow the man seemed to "move" to another location but his appearance looked different. 

The Lost City - Really Fun and Hilarious Action Adventure Movie

When this movie came out on Wednesday, I was unable to see it and only managed to do so yesterday, My wife and I went to the theater not far from our home with very few audience for our comfort. Well why don't I go straight to the movie then?

Brief Story Line

Loretta Sage (Sandra Bullock - Ocean's 8, The Blind Side etc) was a romance novelist who was being pushed by her publicist Beth (Da'Vine Joy Randolph - Dolemite is My Name etc) to write another novel after taking a hiatus for a while. During the latest book tour together with the model cover of her novels named Alan (Channing Tatum - Kingsman: The Golden Circle, The Lego Movie 2 etc), Loretta was asked by a wealthy billionaire named Abigail Fairfax (Daniel Radcliffe - Guns Akimbo, Victor Frankenstein etc) to search for a treasure in the lost city of Z which was what her novel was about.

(2021) Nightmare Alley - Another Artistic Work by Guillermo del Toro

After playing in Indonesian theaters a while back, this movie was finally released on Disney+ few days ago. Back then, my wife and I were not comfortable yet to go to see movies in the cinemas during the surge of Omicron variant of Covid-19. So it was quite a blessing that we could see this less than 2 months since its release date. Without further ado, let's see how the movie was.

Brief Story Line

Set in the 1940s, Stan (Bradley Cooper - A Star is Born, Silver Linings Playbook etc) got a job in a carnival owned by Clem (Willem Dafoe - Spider-man: No Way Home, Murder on the Orient Express etc) who managed various acts, including a geek show where a wild person ate live chicken during the act. While in the carnival, Stan assisted Madame Zeema (Toni Collette - Hereditary, Unlocked etc) and learned about the psychic act from Zeema's partner Pete (David Strathairn - The Firm, Nomadland etc).

Deep Water - A not so Thrilling Erotic Psychological Thriller of Real Toxic Relationship in a Marriage

I did not realize this seemingly interesting new movie that was released on Prime Video few days ago. But I did get the chance to watch it last night even if it was a bit late. Anyway, here are more details of the movie.

Brief Story Line

Vic Van Allen (Ben Affleck - The Last Duel, Batman Vs Superman etc) and his wife Melinda (Ana de Armas - No Time to Die, Knives Out etc) were a couple with one young daughter named Trixie (Grace Jenkins). They had a very cold relationship where Melinda seemed to be fooling around with lots of guys while Vic himself seemed to be OK at first.

(2022) Cheaper by the Dozen - Not a Greater Remake but Still Provided Some Fun Even if it's not Particularly Memorable

This movie was released on Disney+ on Friday, but I did not receive any notification till yesterday. As I was watching other movies in different platform and in the cinema, I only watched this last night with my wife. Well why don't I start then?

The Bakers were a large family that consisted of the father Paul (Zach Braff - Scrubs TV series, Garden State etc), his wife Zoey (Gabrielle Union - Sleepless, L.A's Finest TV series etc) and their children Deja (Journee Brown), DJ (Andre Robinson), Ella (Kylie Rogers - The Whispers TV series etc), Harley (Caylee Blosenski), Haresh (Aryan Simhadri) and the smaller children referred to as the littles. They were twins Luna (Mykal-Michelle Harris) & Luca (Leo A. Perry) and younger twins Bailey & Bronx (Christian Cote & Sebastian Cote). Paul and Zoey owned a restaurant called Baker's breakfast operated by their whole family. 

(2022) Ambulance - Enjoyable and Intense Michael Bay's Action Movie

I've caught a glimpse of this movie's trailer a while back which seemed to promise lots of action and with the name of Michael Bay as the director, made me quite excited. But as the 3rd wave of the pandemic hit Indonesia in the past few weeks, I was skeptical if I would get the chance to see it in the cinema. Fortunately, the situation seemed to be better swiftly so my wife and I had the courage to go to theaters since last week. Although it was certainly helped by the fact that not a lot of audience dared to see movies in cinemas yet. Anyway, let's get on with this.

Windfall - Interesting Psychological Thriller Lacking a bit of Intensity but Having Pretty Awesome Ending

Like any other Fridays in the past few months, I was looking forward to new movies released on Netflix. This time I opted to see this film which seemed to have an interesting premise. So let's find out more.

An unknown man (Jason Segel - How I Met Your Mother TV series, Sex Tape etc) was trying to rob an empty rich man's vacation home. Unfortunately for him, the owners suddenly arrived for holiday.

The husband (Jesse Plemons - Antlers, The Power of the Dog etc) and his wife (Lily Collins - Emily in Paris TV series, Pride, Prejudice and Zombies etc) were shocked and held captive by the robber.

The Batman - A Unique Take on the Iconic DC Character

After a couple of weeks playing in theaters, my wife and I finally went to see this movie yesterday. We have been putting off going to the cinemas due to the latest surge of Covid-19 in Indonesia. Anyway, we saw this film in a small exclusive theater with reclining seats that only had 20+ people in it. We used my wife's vouchers that she had for years which we thought was the perfect time to utilize as the movie had nearly 3 hours duration. OK I'll get right to it then.

Turning Red - Hilarious and Heart Warming Beautifully Animated Comedy Movie

The other film that was released yesterday was this computer animated movie which I had seen its trailer one time and was immediately interested as it looked hilarious. Originally my wife and I wanted to see this today, but as we finished another movie before 8 PM, we thought it would be nice to watch it then, rather than wait for the following day. Anyway, here's more on the movie.

Set in Toronto, Canada in the year 2002, a 13 year old girl named Meilin Lee (Rosalie Chiang) was an over achiever student and best friends with Miriam (Ava Morse), Priya (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan - Never Have I Ever TV series etc) and Abby (Hyein Park). Mei was living with her high demanding mother Ming (Sandra Oh - Raya and the Last Dragon, Killing Eve TV series etc) and calm father Jin (Orion Lee) and did not have lots of spare time to have fun like kids her age.

The Adam Project - A not so Complicated Time Travel Movie with Nice Story

There were unexpectedly 2 new movies that truly excite me released on different streaming platforms yesterday. Ultimately my wife and I decided to watch this film first. So here goes.

Brief Story Line

In the year 2050 where time travel existed, an air force pilot named Adam (Ryan Reynolds - Red Notice, Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard etc) crash landed in the year 2022 where he met with his 12 year old self (Walker Scobell). Young Adam was still struggling with the loss of his father Louis (Mark Ruffalo - Dark Waters, Thor: Ragnarok etc) and giving a hard time to his mother Ellie (Jennifer Garner - Yes Day, Wonder Park etc). 

Jolt - An Interesting Action Comedy with Unique Lead Character

I was looking forward to this movie when I first saw it in the Coming Soon section of HBO Go as the premise seemed interesting. So once it was released on Saturday, I immediately watch it on its premier day. Well let us get to it then.

Brief Story Line

Lindy (Kate Beckinsale - Underworld: Blood Wars and its predecessors, Click etc) was a woman who suffered from intermittent explosive disorder which made her easily irritated and became violent on other people. Her psychiatrist Dr. Munchin (Stanley Tucci - The Witches 2020 version, The Terminal etc) put on a vest which could give Lindy electric jolt whenever she wanted to hurt other people. He also advised Lindy to start having personal relationship that might make her better.

The Weekend Away - Pretty Intriguing Light Mystery Drama Movie with Multiple Twists and Turns

Somehow I did not notice about this movie that was released on Netflix on Thursday, until my wife asked if I had watched it. So I gave it a try last night as mystery thriller usually always intrigued me. And here's more on the film.

Beth (Leighton Meester - Gossip Girl TV series, The Roommate etc) went to Croatia to have a weekend getaway with her best friend Kate (Christina Wolfe) while leaving her husband Rob (Luke Norris - Poldark TV series etc) and their newborn baby at home.

The Pirates: The Last Royal Treasure - Quite Exciting Adventure Comedy Movie

After playing in South Korean cinemas less than 2 months ago, this interesting movie was already released on Netflix yesterday. I was excited to see it immediately as the premise looked really fun, while my wife was even more ecstatic seeing so many of the cast whom she was familiar with. Anyway, let us get to the movie now.

Brief Story Line

A group of thieves led by Wu Mu-chi (Kang Ha-neul - Midnight Runners, When the Camellia Blooms TV series etc) were rescued by a pirate ship led by its captain Hae-rang (Han Hyo-joo - The Beauty Inside, Happiness TV series etc) along with her crews that included the first mate Ah-gwi (Park Ji-hwan) and dreamtree Mak-yi (Lee Kwang-soo - It's Okay, That's Love TV series, Tazza: One Eyed Jack etc). 

While attacking a Japanese ship, the pirates came across information about long lost treasure and decided to search for it. During their trip, they also captured a con artist Hae-geum (Chae Soo-bin - Sweet & Sour, I'm not a Robot TV series etc) and brought her along.
