Motor City - A Stylish Action Thriller Drama with Minimum Dialogue that might not be for Everyone

This movie was put under Coming Soon section of various Indonesian cinema chains since few months back and I was looking forward to see due to its lead star. I think it was scheduled last month but somehow changed to two weeks ago and finally released mid of this week. As I was having other things, I only got the chance to see it yesterday with my wife. All right then, let's find out more on the movie.

Brief Story Line

Story was set in the 1970s Detroit where ex convict John Miller (Alan Ritchson - War Machine, Reacher TV series etc) was just free from probation and planned to marry his girlfriend Sophia (Shailene Woodley - To Catch a Killer, The Divergent Series: Allegiant Part 1 etc) who used to be in relationship with crime boss Reynolds (Ben Foster - The Contractor, Warcraft: The Beginning etc). 

(2026) The Invisible Guest - The Indonesian Remake of Well Received Full of Twist Psychological Drama Movie from Spain

When I got notification email from HBO Max several days ago, I was surprised as it promoted a new Indonesian movie that I never heard or known before. Anyway once I saw its premise and the lead star I was obviously intrigued. So when it was finally released yesterday at 2 PM like advertised, I immediately watched it. Without further ado, here's more on the film.

Brief Story Line

Movie started with the appearance of Reza (Reza Rahadian - Keadilan, Berbalas Kejam etc), a very experienced lawyer in the apartment where Mawar (Mawar de Jongh - Virgo and the Sparklings, The Shadow Strays etc) was staying. She was under house arrest as main suspect in the murder of Yoshi (Arifin Putra - Foxtrot 6, Sang Pengadil etc). As someone who never lost a case, Reza demanded Mawar to tell her every little detail including things related to the missing person case sometime back.

Enola Holmes 3 - Not as Impressive as Its Predecessors with Less Complex Mystery, Though Still Maintained Its Charm

In the past few weeks, this movie was already shown as part of the Coming Soon section on Netflix. It was sequel to the film that I liked previously so it's no brainer that I would immediately watch it as soon as it was made available yesterday. OK then, let's get right to it.

Brief Story Line

After years of being in relationship with Lord Tewkesbury (Louis Partridge - Disclaimer mini series etc), Enola Holmes (Millie Bobby Brown - Damsel, Godzilla Vs. Kong etc) agreed to his marriage proposal and planned to have their wedding in Malta as suggested by Lady Tewkesbury (Hattie Morahan - Fool Me Once mini series, The Golden Compass etc). From Enola's side though, only her brother Sherlock (Henry Cavill - In the Grey, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare etc) was able to attend since their mother Eudoria (Helena Bonham Carter - Agatha Christie's Seven Dials mini series, Lady Jane etc) was being hunted by British government for her past crimes.

(TV SERIES) Reboot - A Mystery Thriller Series With Multiple Plot Twists Which Should Please Fans of Such Attributes

As I said in my recent posts there were a lot of new series and movies on Netflix in the past week that interest me. This Japanese series had all its episodes released in one go just last Tuesday with a rather cryptic but sounded intriguing premise. So I decided to give it a try 3 nights ago and managed to finish it the day after. OK now, let's just head to the series.

Brief Story Line

Hayase Riku (Kenichi Matsuyama - Death Note, 1 Litre of Tears TV series etc) was a pattisier whose wife had been missing for 2.5 years and had to raise his young son together with his mother (Mieko Harada - Viral Hit TV series etc). When the body of his wife was found dead, police detective Gidou (Ryohei Suzuki - City Hunter, Segodon TV series etc) was assigned to investigate the case. Unfortunately for Hayase, the police suspected him for the murder.

(TV SERIES) Light to the Night - Multi Layered Mystery Series with Some Brilliant Acting and Pretty Awesome Story

This series was released on Netflix since last month which from its brief synopsis I was quite intrigued. But since the episodes were released daily, I had to wait for a while till it's almost completed and started watching few days ago & finally finished it last night. OK why don't I get on with the series then.

Brief Story Line

In 1997, a young woman and her father mysteriously disappeared in the Yuan Liongli apartment complex in Weiyang city. Rookie detective Ran Fangxu (Dylan Wang - Guardians of the Dafeng TV series, Meteor Garden 2018 series etc) was partnered with He Yuangshang (Pan Yueming - All's Well, And's Well 2010, Day and Night TV series etc) to investigate the case. Though they were really incompatible at first, Ran and He did their best to try solving the disappearance which slowly unraveled as more than just a simple case.

(2026) Michael - A Biography of the King of Pop Focusing More on His Inspiring Side and Great Achievements

I have been eyeing to see this movie ever since it was made known in social media. Last week it had its advance ticket sale for Wednesday but not in my favorite studio. Unfortunately it only had one show during the following two days and by Friday it was no longer available there and was playing in few theaters. So my wife and I ended up having to see this yesterday in one of those limite options. Without further ado, here's more on the film.

Brief Story Line

Story focused on the life of Michael Jackson from his childhood years (portrayed by Juliano Krue Valdi) to his adulthood (portrayed by Jaafar Jackson). Michael was the youngest of a band with his older brothers named Jackson 5, formed, trained and managed by their father Joseph Jackson (Colman Domingo - The Running Man 2025 remake, Candyman 2021 version etc) who was very hard on them. Meanwhile their mother Katherine (Nia Long - Missing, Big Momma's House etc) was not really approving but she did not have courage to go against Joseph.

The King's Warden - Wonderfully Acted, Brilliantly Told & Beatufully Done Historical Drama Movie

I had been aware about this movie for a while now and became really interested when I read it was a major success in South Korea. But I did not realize it was already playing in Indonesia on Wednesday so we only saw it yesterday when we had the chance. It was a bit of challenge cause the movie did not play in that many studios. Luckily one of them was the cinema not far from our home. All right then, let us get on with the film.

Brief Story Line

Set during Joseon periode, the young King Yi Hong-wi (Park Ji-hoon - Weak Hero TV series, Audrey etc) was overthrown and demoted to a normal Lord called Nosan. Minister Han Myong-hoe (Yoo Ji-tae - Money Heist: Korea - Joint Economic Area TV series, The Swindlers etc) tried to push Nosan losing his will to live by putting him into exile. Meanwhile Cheongnyeongpo village chief Eom Heung-do (Yoo Hae-jin - Exhuma, Yadang: The Snitch etc) who heard about the nice things for an exile place, managed to convince Myong-hoe to choose his village and he himself became the Warden.

(Mini Series) The Art of Sarah - An Intricate and Complex Mystery Thriller Series

Since I was on holiday the past week with my wife, I only got the chance to watch things on streaming service when I was back at hotel at night. After completing different series earlier on Netflix, I opted to watch another one that I thought sounded interesting. It was actually released exactly last week but I only started to watch three nights ago and completed it last night after I returned home. All right then, let us get into the series now.

Brief Story Line

When the body of a young woman was found in the sewer, Detective Park Mu-gyeong (Lee Joon-hyuk - Mercy for None mini series, The Roundup: No Way Out etc) was assigned to investigate the case. He was assisted by energetic rookie detective Jae-hyeon (Shin Hyun-seung - Han River Police TV series etc) who was eager to prove his worth. The body was later identified as the Boudoir luxury brand regional head Sarah Kim (Shin Hye-sun - Following, Welcome to Samdal-ri TV series etc) by her friend Jeong Yeo-jin (Park Bo-kyung - Genie, Make a Wish TV series, Hopeless etc) who was also the largest investor of Boudoir. 

Unexpected Family - A Wonderful Drama Movie with Jackie Chan's Amazing Performance in a Completely Diferent Role

When the trailer to this film was shown few weeks ago, my wife and I were interested to see as it starred one of our beloved actor Jackie Chan. Despite knowing that it would be a drama movie instead of the usual action comedy, we still wanted to watch it as we never missed any of his recent movies. OK, I will just get on with it now.

Brief Story Line

Zhong Bu Fan (Peng Yu Chang - Viva La Vida, I Am Nobody TV series etc) came to Wuhan for personal reasons with very little money. He ended up working for a car wash place owned by Jia Ye (Pan Bi Long - Born to Fly, Battle of Shangganling TV series etc) and was provided a place to stay. Apparently the house was owned by Ren Ji Qing (Jackie Chan - The Shadow's Edge, Hidden Strike etc) who was suffering from early Alzheimer disease and mistakenly thought Bu Fan as his son.

We Bury The Dead - A Drama Heavy Zombie Survival Film

When this movie was released on Friday, my wife and I already had plan to see another film in a certain location. Sadly this one did not play in that theater while the schedule in the cinemas nearby did not make it possible for a movie marathon. So we ended up seeing this film yesterday noon. All right then, I'll just get started.

Brief Story Line

Near Tazmania island, an experimental weapon was somehow detonated which resulted to immediate death of people in the city. However, some of them were rumored to be able to return from their death, although the military had decided they were dangerous and should be put to death immediately. 

Sore: Istri dari Masa Depan - Lovely Romance Drama with Some Sci-Fi Element

After finding out last month on Netflix that this movie would be released on 8th of January 2026, I was very much looking forward to it. So yesterday when it was made available, I immediately watched it despite I was in the middle of another series. Without further ado, here's more on the film.

Brief Story Line

Jonathan (Dion Wiyoko - A Normal Woman, Cek Toko Sebelah 2 etc) was an Indonesian photographer who had been living in Croatia for quite some time and aspiring to have his own exhibition with the help from his manager Karlo (Goran Bogdan - The Man Who Could Not Remain Silent, Fargo TV series etc). One day Jonathan woke up with an unknown woman beside his bed who claimed to be his wife from future named Sore (Sheila Dara AIsha - The Most Beautiful Girl in the World, Teka Teki Tika etc). Obviously Jonathan did not believe her, until she was able to slowly convince him. Sore's intention was to improve Jonathan's health style which was a huge challenge due to his bad habits of smoking, drinking and lack of sleeping.

(Mini Series) Run Away - Latest Adaptation of Harlan Coben's Work that Might not be Extraordinary but was a Nice Change of Genre

During the past few weeks, Netflix library had grown so much with a lot of new release every few days. This series was something that I was intrigued ever since it was promoted last month, but as I was busy finishing other series, I only got the chance to watch it yesterday and completed it last night. OK then, let us get more into it.

Simon Greene (James Nesbitt - Murphy's Law TV series, The Hobbit movies etc) had been looking for his runaway daughter Paige (Ellie de Lange - Arcadia TV series etc) for quite some time. So when he got information of her whereabouts, Simon did not inform his wife Ingrid (Minnie Driver -  The Beekeeper, Speechless TV series etc) and went by himself. Unfortunately he got into an altercation which later made him a suspect on murder case investigated by DC Isaac Fagbenle (Alfred Enoch -  How to Get Away With Murder TV series, Harry Potter movies etc) and his partner DC Ruby Todd (comedian Amy Gledhill).

(TV SERIES) Pluribus Season 1 - Understandably Well Received Drama with Sci-fi Element, but Completely Different From What I Expected

When this series was first released on AppleTV+, it garnered so much hype that made me intrigued. However, I still prefer to wait till all episodes available before I started watching. And I did it since two days ago and finished the first season last night. All right then, let's find out more, shall we.

Brief Story Line

Famous romance fiction novelist Carol Sturka (Rhea Seehorn - Bad Boys: Ride or Die, Whitney TV series etc) was just finishing her book tour when suddenly all the people around her were having seizures and somehow their brains became connected with one another after it was over. Carol later found out the whole thing was due to alien virus and affected the people in the whole world, with only 12 other persons immune to the effect. 

Oh. What. Fun. - Unfortunately not A Fun Christmas Comedy Film

I saw the notification of this new movie several days ago on Prime Video and after reading the brief synopsis plus looking at the lead cast, I was quite intrigued to give it a try. However I only got the chance to watch it two nights ago after completing other series. OK let's just get right to it then.

Brief Story Line

Claire Clauster (Michelle Pfeiffer - Ant-man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Mother! etc) had been planning for the perfect Christmas holiday gathering with her family that consisted of her husband Nick (Denis Leary - Ice Age: Collision Course, The Moodys TV series etc), the children i.e. Channing the oldest (Felicity Jones - The Midnight Sky, True Story etc), middle child Taylor (Chloë Grace Moretz - Nimona, Tom & Jerry 2021 version etc) and the youngest Sammy (Dominc Sessa - Now You See Me Now You Don't etc) together with Channing's husband Doug (Jason Schwartzman - Bored to Death TV series, The Darjeeling Limited etc) & their young twins.

Agak Laen: Menyala Pantiku! - A Standalone Sequel That Was Still As Enjoyable As The First Movie

After more than a week of release, my wife and I decided to see this movie in the cinema very near to our home at noon today where we can still easily get our favorite seats. Amazingly the film was playing in 3 studios which meant that we could opt to see it every half hour to forty five minutes. All right then, why don't I just get to it now.

Four police detectives that consisted of Bene (Bene Dion - The Underdogs, Susah Sinyal etc), Boris (Boris Bokir - Ngeri Ngeri Sedap, Guru Guru Gokil etc), Jegel (Indra Jegel - The Guys, Miracle in Cell No. 7 etc) and Oki (Oki Rengga - Keluarga Super Irit, Cinta Tak Seindah Drama Korea etc) have been under a lot scrutiny due to their repeated failures in the past. They were given final chance to redeem themselves by their superior, Commander Ario (Ariyo Wahab - Ganjil Genap, Sayap Sayap Patah etc) to find the murder suspect from 2 years ago who have fled to a nursing home.

A Normal Woman - Interesting Idea but Execution Wise not Exactly to My Liking

This new original movie from Netflix that was released last Friday seemed intriguing for me with its brief yet mysterious synopsis. As I went to see a blockbuster film on that night, I only got the chance to watch it yesterday. OK, I'll just get right to it.

Brief Story Line

The Gunawan family that consisted of housewife Milla (Marissa Anita - Perempuan Tanah Jahanam, Air Mata Buaya etc), her successful husband Jonathan (Dion Wiyoko - Imperfect, Falling in Love Like in Movies etc), their teenaged child Angel (Mima Shafa) and Jon's mother Liliana (Widyawati - Sabar Ini Ujian, Sweet 20 etc) were living together in their large & beautiful house. From the outside they looked like a harmonious family, but Milla was actually having a bit of stress. 

(2025) Brick - Interesting Enough Mystery Sci-Fi Movie

I found out yesterday there was a new movie released on Netflix which intrigued me due to its premise. Even though I was in the middle of another new series, I paused it just to watch this film last night. All right then, let's find out more shall we?

(Mini Series) The Better Sister - Not Exactly What I Had in Mind, but Likely Would Please Audience Seeking Female Driven Drama with a bit of Mystery

On Thursday, there were 2 new series released on different streaming platforms and both were interesting to me. But as I had to make a choice, I opted to watch this first on Prime Video as it was a limited series that I do not have to worry about having no closure. Anyway I started watching on that night and only finished it this morning. All right, I'll get started then.

(MINI SERIES) Zero Day - Intriguing Political Thriller With Some Brilliant Acting by Its Cast

Two days ago this limited series was released on Netflix. I was interested to give it a try cause the plot seemed intriguing even if it was categorized as political thriller which is usually heavy. But since it was said to be limited series, I thought it would be nice without worrying if it would be renewed in future. OK, without further ado, here's more on the series.

After a large cyber attack in the US that killed thousands, president Evelyn Mitchell (Angela Bassett - Gunpowder Milkshake, American Horror Story TV series etc) decided to appoint non partisan former president George Mullen (Robert De Niro - Amsterdam, The Godfather Part II etc) to lead an indenpendent commission and investigate the persons behind and stop further attacks. George's daughter Congresswoman Alexandra (Lizzy Caplan - Now You See Me 2, Cobweb etc) though, was against him leading the commission as he already retired and living peacefully with his wife Sheila (Joan Allen -  Nixon, The Contender etc). However, George's trusted assistant Roger (Jesse Plemons - Windfall, Game Night etc) encouraged him to take the position which he ultimately did.

Firefighters - The Story of A South Korean Group of Fire Fighters Based on True Events

There were few new films released in Indonesian cinemas last week but my wife and I decided to only see this one on Saturday due to various reasons. It was a South Korean movie that I was intrigued to find out, while my wife was interested after seeing the cast list. OK, so here's more on the film.

Brief Story Line

Story was set through the years of 2000 to 2001 about a group of Rescue Unit of a fire station in Seoul. They consisted of Commander Kang (Yoo Jae-myung - Harbin, The Sound of Magic TV series etc), Captain Jeong (Kwak Do-won - The Golden Holiday, Never Give Up TV series etc), team members that included the kind hearted Yong-tae (Kim Min-jae - The Roundup: Punishment, The Fiery Priest TV series etc), Song Ki-cheol (Lee Joon-hyuk - The Roundup: No Way Out, Vigilante TV series etc) who was dubbed as poster boy due to his good looks, Hyo-jong (Oh Dae-hwan - I, The Executioner, The Tale of Lady Ok TV series etc), rookie Choi Cheol-woong (Joo Won - Carter, My Sassy Girl TV series etc) and several others.
