(2026) Hope - Awesome Sci-fi Action Movie with Plenty of Thrilling Moments & Desperately Needing a Sequel

For our second movie of the day, we opted to see this one that was released during our holiday trip since two weeks ago. As I was worried it would be gone soon from Indonesian cinemas, we arranged going to the cinema where it also played this film along with the one we saw before. Without further ado, here's more on the movie.

Brief Story Line

In a small harbor village called Hope, the local Chief of Police Ko Bum-seok (Hwang Jung-min - I, The Executioner, The Spy Gone North etc) was surprised when being informed by his cousin Ko Sung-ki (Zo In-sung - Humint, Smugglers etc) on the finding of dead cow seemingly attacked by vicious animal. As Sung-ki and his hunter friends tried to look for the thing that killed the cow, Bum-seok somehow found something attacking and killing the villagers.

Yesterday I finally got chance to see movies in the cinemas with my wife. There were so many that we have not seen since our holiday trip 2 weeks ago, but as our time was limited, we had no choice but to select two of them. We were tempted to see another one after seeing them, however we felt tired and decided against it. Anyway, let's get on with the first one.

Brief Story Line

On a busy snowy night, Bryan (Austin Abrams - Wolfs, Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark etc) who worked a medical courier decided to accept a special assignment to deliver package to Raccoon city hospital for extra fee, even though he was supposed to return home after his latest task.

(2026) Mayday - A Delightful Action Comedy with Great Humor and Nice Enough Action

Yesterday due to unforeseen circumstances, my wife and I were unable to see any movies in the cinema. Hence I decided to search for something on streaming service. Then I remembered about this movie that was released on Apple TV on the first day of our holiday trip 2 weeks ago that sounded interesting. So I immediately gave it a try. All right then, why don't I get on with the movie now.

Brief Story Line

Set in 1987 during the cold war between the US and Soviet Union, Troy Kelly aka Assassin (Ryan Reynolds - Deadpool & Wolverine, Free Guy etc) was an experienced US Navy pilot who was assigned to do a recon mission over Russia. Unfortunately the mission went wrong and his plane crasehd on Russian soil. Fortunately he was rescued by a Russian man named Nikolai "Nick" Ustinov (Kenneth Branagh - A Haunting in Venice, Henry V etc) who was living by himself.

(TV SERIES) Neagley Season 1 - A Wonderful Spin Off Series from the World of Reacher

After our holiday trip, my wife and I were busy with other things and were not able to see any of the latest movies in the cinema. However, I did have the chance to watch the whole episodes of this new series just released in Prime Video two days ago. OK then, let's just get right with the series now.

Brief Story Line

Frances Neagley (Maria Sten - Channel Zero: The Dream Door TV series etc) who worked as Private Investigator in Philadelphia got news that her childhood best friend had committed suicide. As she was suspicious of the death, Neagley decided to look into the matter and found that he had been member of a community called Echo Canyon Farm that was similar to a cult led by Lawrence Cole (Damon Herriman - Mortal Kombat II, The Bondsman TV series etc). Neagley sought information from Philadelphia PD where Detective Hudson Riley (Greyston Holt - Lou, Durham County TV series etc) was assigned to help her.

(2026) Vanishing Point - A Pretty Well Written Crime Thriller Mystery Drama Movie Based on Popular Novel

While my wife and I were on overseas holiday trip, we were unable to see any movies in the cinemas and my options were limited to watching on streaming services. This movie that was released on Netflix few days ago was something that interest me, though I only got the chance to put in writing today after our return. Without further ado, here's more on the film.

Brief Story Line

The movie focus on three group of people with their own experience that were somehow intertwined. Yan Wu (Roy Chiu - Dear Ex, Detective Chinatown TV series etc) was an addicted gambler living only with his elderly father and having financial trouble to pay his debts. They rented an apartment unit from a young woman named Lin Yutong (Liu Haocun - Ride On, The Seven Relics of Ill Omen TV series etc) who suffered from traumatic experience few months before and heavily protected by her older brother Doctor Lin Wenzhao (Li Chen - The Battle of Lake Chiangjin, Beijing Love Story TV series etc).

(Mini Series) Mousetrap - A Thriller Series Full of Surprising Twists and Turns with a Personally Rather Unsatisfactory Ending

When this series was released last Friday on Netflix, there were plenty of things that I wanted to watch. After finishing all of them, I finally started watching this on Wednesday and completed it yesterday. So how was the series then? I'll just dive into it now.

Brief Story Line

Reclusive writer Je Moon-jae (Ryu Jun-yeol - The 8 Show TV series, The Night Owl etc) had been living in an apartment for 3 years and never went out, with all personal matters handled by his friend & accountant Son Su-hyeon (Moo Jin-sung - Perhaps Love, The Tyrant TV series etc). His life suddenly turned upside down when he lost everything in one day due to identity theft. In order to find out the truth and proving himself, Moon-jae had no choice but to work together with Noja (Sul Kyung-gu - The Moon, Yakhsa: Ruthless Operations etc) a gangster enforcer who was originally trying to capture him.

(2026) The Runner - Lacking Punch for a Supposedly Thrilling Premise

I saw this movie in the Coming Soon section of Prime Video and was looking forward to watch due to its interesting premise. So when it was made available yesterday, I immediately gave it a try once I was able to do it. Let's get to the movie now, shall we?

Brief Story Line

Maia Marten (Gal Gadot - Heart of Stone, Wonder Woman etc) was a famous attorney based in London who raised her young child Noah (Rory Wilmot) by herself. During one of her usual morning run after dropping Noah to school, she got a mysterious call from a man claiming he had kidnapped her son. The caller (Damian Lewis - Our Kind of Traitor, Billions TV series etc) demanded Maia to do a specific thing within one hour before he release Noah.

(TV SERIES) Furious Season 1 - A Dark and Heavy Crime Drama Series Loosely Inspired by 1987 Movie Black Widow

Few weeks ago while I was checking on Disney+, I found this series and another one which were both intriguing for me. However just like the usual Hulu original series, it was having one episode per week release (except for the first three that were released at the same time). Two days ago I noticed the last episode would be released on Monday, so I decided to start watching the day before and finished it last night. OK then, I'll get on with the series now.

Brief Story Line

Rookie FBI agent Alice Black (Emmy Rossum - Cold Pursuit, Shameless TV series etc) who was formerly from NYPD, was asked by her old partner Detective Danny Kelly (Scoot McNairy - Man on Fire TV series, Luckiest Girl Alive etc) to look into the death of a wealthy billionaire's son. Though it looked like a simple overdoze, Alice was suspicious with similar case that occurred 14 years before and tried to bring it to the attention of Nora Washington (Quincy Tyler Bernstine - Power TV series etc), the FBI's head of sex crime units.
