6 Underground - Another Action Movie from Michael Bay Filled With Spectacular and Outrageous Action Sequence, Perfect for Fans of Such Genre

I saw the trailer to this movie in the promotion of Netflix few times (which looked awesome by the way) and finally got the chance to watch it 2 nights ago. Again due to this stay at home period where we were not able to see any new movies, seeing an action film (even if it's on my TV) was still pretty entertaining. OK, let's start with the the movie now.

Brief Story Line

Story focused on a group of private vigilantes led by a person only known as One (Ryan Reynolds - Detective PikachuLife etc) and consisted of former spy Two (Mélanie Laurent - Now You See Me etc), former hitman Three (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo - Murder on the Orient Express etc), former thief & parkour expert Four (Ben Hardy - Bohemian Rhapsody etc), Five (Adria Arjona - Life of the Party etc) and the driver Six (Dave Franco - The Lego Ninjago Movie etc) who went around the world to stop dangerous criminals without the government consent.

Their current focus was to take down a ruthless dictator in Turgistan named Rovach (Lior Raz) and replace him with his democratic brother Murat (Peyman Maadi). With the addition of former US sniper referred as Seven (Corey Hawkins - Kong: Skull Island etc), the group tried their best to complete their mission despite the dangers they must face.

So how would the story conclude? Find them all in this movie filled with spectacular action.

End of Brief Story Line

It's funny that I did not know who directed this movie at first (I did not check it out earlier) but when I watched it, I felt there were one or two scenes which was similar to Michael Bay's style. After the movie finished and while watching the closing credits, it turned out the film was indeed directed by him. No wonder the action sequence were spectacularly done, but his flaws were still quite apparent especially the messy story telling.

The early part of the movie where the characters were "introduced" using flash back styles felt poorly done and instead of making me intrigued or excited only made me feel a bit confused and irritated. I am not sure it was because of the directing or editing, but the flash back scenes just felt not naturally shown. However, after those introduction and back ground scenes were completed, the movie moved in a better direction to my opinion and we can focus on the mission where it mattered.

I personally thought that since the appearance of Seven (nicely portrayed by Corey Hawkins) made the group felt livelier and more humane plus the interaction between them felt more natural and I also felt more attached to them. And when the democratic brother Murat appeared, he also brought some light tone for the movie. The rest of the cast did their job adequately. But then again, the non action part has never been Michael Bay's strength so do not expect this one to be an Oscar nominee type of movie.

Anyway, the action sequence in here was really awesome, fantastic, spectacular and loud. There were so many outrageous scenes especially those done in Florence, Italy. The explosions, car chasing, parkour scenes, gun shooting, people struck by vehicles and thrown around like nothing and so many other stuff were totally amazing. Oh and that scenes in Hong Kong penthouse building were really really great. All these are the best recipe for action movie fans like me. Even with my not so big TV screen, I could feel the awesomeness of those action sequence and I could only imagine how it would be seeing it in a large cinema studio with wonderful sound system (cause this movie was released digitally through Netflix). And with a little over 2 hours duration without any mid or post end credit scene, somehow it did not feel too long and just nice for me.

Overall this was a very entertaining movie filled with amazing action sequences that would satisfy action thrill seekers. It was not having complicated plot, just that you have to be a bit patient in the early part when it comes to the introductory scenes, but beyond that it was better. This is a movie purely for fun and if you are a fan of Michael Bay's works then you should be able to enjoy it. For those who hate him though, this one would hardly change your mind. But for me, it was nice to see a huge action movie during this challenging period. So if you like action, don't overthink, just watch this and be entertained.

Happy watching!
