The Lost City - Really Fun and Hilarious Action Adventure Movie

When this movie came out on Wednesday, I was unable to see it and only managed to do so yesterday, My wife and I went to the theater not far from our home with very few audience for our comfort. Well why don't I go straight to the movie then?

Brief Story Line

Loretta Sage (Sandra Bullock - Ocean's 8, The Blind Side etc) was a romance novelist who was being pushed by her publicist Beth (Da'Vine Joy Randolph - Dolemite is My Name etc) to write another novel after taking a hiatus for a while. During the latest book tour together with the model cover of her novels named Alan (Channing Tatum - Kingsman: The Golden CircleThe Lego Movie 2 etc), Loretta was asked by a wealthy billionaire named Abigail Fairfax (Daniel Radcliffe - Guns Akimbo, Victor Frankenstein etc) to search for a treasure in the lost city of Z which was what her novel was about.

Alan and Loretta would soon be entangled in the dangerous situation of finding the treasure in an island where a volcano was about to erupt.

So how would the story conclude? You can find them all in this really fun adventure movie.

End of Brief Story Line

It has been quite a long time since my wife and I had really fun time at the cinema, enjoying the hilarious adventure in a movie. This film was really entertaining for us as it had lots and lots of humorous moments where we would laugh out loud many times. We could immediately sense it was going to be fun ever since the book tour started, from Loretta's appearance and Alan's ridiculous looks and all the things that happened during that moment.

However, the funniest time was definitely in the island starting from the time Alan reached the location. We could not stop laughing as it was a continuous uproarious scenes especially those involving the car. The story here was not really a complicated one. In fact it was quite simple and did not require too much thinking. I believed that we totally enjoyed the movie because of the main characters Loretta and Alan, who were perfectly portrayed by Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum. My wife thought they really fit these characters and they had great chemistry.

In addition to the main characters, Daniel Radcliffe made a nice combo with them. There were also the support cast of Brad Pitt (Ad AstraAllied etc) who I think stole the show, plus Oscar Nunez (The Office TV series etc) as Oscar the pilot, Patti Harrison as Allison the social manager and few others. The movie itself was directed by Aaron and Adam Nee (The Last Romantic, Band of Robbers etc) where Adam appeared in here as one of the police, officer Sawyer.

Btw, I thought that the movie was quite similar to the premise of very fun film back in 1984 titled Romancing the Stone starring Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner (also about a female novelist caught in an adventure, although the male character was completely different here). Anyway, there was no mentioning about this movie based on any books or remake or anything. The duration of this film was 112 minutes which was actually pretty long but it did not feel boring at all, especially with so many fun moments. Oh, there was an intriguing mid end credit scene which you do not want to miss. From what I read, if this film is a commercial success, there would be sequels which my wife and I would definitely be interested to see.

Overall this was a really entertaining movie. Despite very few people seeing it in the cinema, we could still hear laughter all over the place. It's certainly a good one that was nice to see in large screen with good sound effect. It's definitely a recommended film to be enjoyed with family (not for the young children though as it's classified for 13+).

Happy watching!
