Sore: Istri dari Masa Depan - Lovely Romance Drama with Some Sci-Fi Element

After finding out last month on Netflix that this movie would be released on 8th of January 2026, I was very much looking forward to it. So yesterday when it was made available, I immediately watched it despite I was in the middle of another series. Without further ado, here's more on the film.

Brief Story Line

Jonathan (Dion Wiyoko - A Normal Woman, Cek Toko Sebelah 2 etc) was an Indonesian photographer who had been living in Croatia for quite some time and aspiring to have his own exhibition with the help from his manager Karlo (Goran Bogdan - The Man Who Could Not Remain Silent, Fargo TV series etc). One day Jonathan woke up with an unknown woman beside his bed who claimed to be his wife from future named Sore (Sheila Dara AIsha - The Most Beautiful Girl in the World, Teka Teki Tika etc). Obviously Jonathan did not believe her, until she was able to slowly convince him. Sore's intention was to improve Jonathan's health style which was a huge challenge due to his bad habits of smoking, drinking and lack of sleeping.

The Gorge - An Enjoyable Combination of Love Story with Some Intense Action Sequence

I only saw this movie last night after my weekend vacation out of town with my wife. It was released by AppleTV+ during Valentine's day which I thought was a bit funny considering other streaming was promoting their line up for romance/romantic comedy genre. Anyway, I'll just get on with it then.

Brief Story Line

Levi Kane (Miles Teller - Top Gun: Maverick, Fantastic Four 2015 version etc), a sniper with terrific record was hired by mysterious woman called Bartholomew (Sigourney Weaver - Avatar: The Way of Water, Alien etc) for a seemingly simple job. He was to be stationed in an unknown location to be guardian of a large building called the Gorge for a year, replacing the previous guard named J. D (Sope Dirisu - Mr. Malcolm's List, Gangs of London TV series etc). There was another Gorge on the East side which was guarded by Lithuanian elite sniper named Drasa (Anya Taylor-joy - Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, The Menu etc) while Levi was on the West side. 

Elemental - A Lovely and Pretty Engaging Romantic Love Story from Disney & Pixar Studio

The trailer to this movie had been shown so many times in the cinemas that I practically already have a picture on my mind of what the story would be. Nevertheless, I am still interested in watching as it is from Disney Pixar studio. Yesterday there was a special early screening of the movie in certain studios but only for 1 show. Luckily my wife and I still got our favorite seats in the theater not far from our home. OK let's get right to it now.

Brief Story Line

Ember Lumen (Leah Lewis - Nancy Drew TV series etc) was the daughter of Bernie (Ronnie del Carmen) and Cinder (Shila Ommi) of fire element who had been living in Elemental city where there were other elements of water, wind and earth. Bernie opened up a convenience store and wanted to pass the store to Ember once she was ready. As time passed, Ember was looking forward to take over but there was always something that made Bernie decided not to.

Where the Crawdads Sing - A Slow Burn Mystery Drama Movie Based on Best Selling Novel

After my long holiday, I realized there were plenty of movies that I missed out on seeing in the cinemas. There was however this movie that even till yesterday was still playing in one theater. As I was quite intrigued (having a mystery as its premise), I decided to give it a try yesterday by myself while my wife would rather continue watching her favorite South Korean series & watch this one when it is officially streaming in Indonesia. OK, let's find out more, shall we?

Brief Story Line

Set in the year 1969, Kya/Catherine Clark (Daisy Edgar-Jones - Fresh, Normal People mini series etc) who was referred by the townspeople as Marsh girl became the suspect of a murder investigation when the rich Chase Andrews (Harris Dickinson - The Kingsman, The Darkest Minds etc) was found dead. Kya was assisted by local lawyer Tom Milton (David Strathairn - Nightmare Alley, Alphas TV series etc) to defend her case.

(TV SERIES) The Time Traveler's Wife - A Fresh Adaptation of the Best Selling Novel that Sadly did not get the Chance to Get Proper Closure

I saw this series promoted on HBO Go for a while but only started watching it 2 days ago, which did not take too long to complete as it only had 6 episodes overall. It was a series that intrigued me as it had time travel element, and I happened to like the 2009 film version too. All right, let's get to it now.

Ever since she was a kid, Clare Abshire (Rose Leslie - Death on the Nile, The Good Fight TV series etc) had been in love with a time traveller named Henry DeTamble (Theo James -  Underworld: Blood Wars, The Divergent Series: Allegiant etc) who often came to visit her for a short period of time.

Brazen - Too Light of Mystery for My Personal Taste

Last night I watched 2 new movies released on Netflix, but I chose to write this one instead due to various reasons. I was interested in watching this as it was a murder mystery. OK, let's get more to it.

Brief Story Line

Grace Miller (Alyssa Milano - Insatiable TV series, Kiss the Bride etc) was a successful mystery novel writer who went back to her hometown to accompany her younger sister Kathleen (Emilie Ullerup - Chesapeake Shores TV series etc) as she was having personal problem. Unbeknownst to Grace, Kathleen actually had a secret life of being webcam performer aside from working as English teacher in a private high school.

(2021) Bliss - Supposedly a Great Sci-Fi Drama but Sadly did not Deliver

I noticed this movie was quite buzzing on the internet even before it premiered on Prime Video. So I was quite intrigued to watch it when it was finally released few days ago. I got the chance to see the movie during the weekend, and I will go straight to it now.

Brief Story Line

Greg Wittle (Owen Wilson - Cars 3 and its predecessors, The Internship etc) was a regular guy who seemed to be on a personal crisis after being divorced and having active imagination of places he has never been. His daughter Emily (Nesta Cooper - The Travelers TV series etc) was the only who still cared for Greg.

Weathering With You - Another Lovely Work from Makoto Shinkai

I was interested in seeing this movie due to being dubbed as another work from Makoto Shinkai, who was quite famous for directing one of the loveliest anime movie I had ever seen, i.e. Your Name aka Kimi no Nawa. Anyway, as the movie only played in certain cinema chains, I set my mind to see this during the weekend but it was not meant to be as I underestimated the enthusiasm of his fans since the studios were mostly fully booked. But finally I got the chance to see it yesterday. Well enough of that, and let's just get to the movie now.

Brief Story Line

Hodaka Morishima (Kotaro Daigo) was a 16 year old high school student who ran away from home to Tokyo only to find that life was very difficult. Luckily he managed to get a job from Keisuke Suga (Shun Oguri) to become an apprentice in his magazine. There was also another college girl named Natsumi (Tsubasa Honda) who worked part time.
