This movie had been in our radar since it was advertised some time ago. It was directed by one of the very few Indonesian directors who was the favorite of my wife and mine so we certainly wanted to give it a try. Alas as it did not play in the theater near our home on the day of its release, we had to wait till the weekend to see it in one of the limited cinemas showing the film. My wife had written another excellent post of her views of this movie which I am going to share below in Bahasa Indonesia.
[MOVIE] Teka Teki Tika - Film dengan genre baru dari Ernest Prakasa
Sejak denger mo tayang film baru Ernest Prakasa berjudul Teka-Teki Tika, gw langsung semangat. Pokoknya harus nonton tgl 23 Desember 2021 begitu dia turun di bioskop2 kesayangan. Gak sabar mo liat Ernest bikin genre baru. Jujur gw gak suka film Ernest yang pertama yang berjudul Ngenest. Menurut gw, gak lucu. Selera lah ya. Mungkin sebagian orang ngeliatnya lucu, tapi gw ngeliatnya lucunya maksa. Cumaaaaa, setelah film itu, semua film Ernest gak ada yg jelek, menurut gw ya. Nah gw jadi kepo kan apakah genre baru ini bakal sebagus film2 Ernest sebelumnya? Btw, berhubung filmnya gak nongol di bioskop yang paling deket sama gw, akhirnya gw baru nonton Sabtu 25 Desember 2021. Fyi, film ini disutradarai dan ditulis oleh Ernest Prakasa.
Well, sebelum nonton ini, gw kecolongan liat beberapa komen segelintir orang yang bilang kalo filmnya kurang bagus di mata mereka. Sampe gw baca Ernest juga minta maaf kalo sampai ternyata film ini tidak cocok seleranya dengan sebagian orang. Gapapa sih menurut gw, karena film itu bener2 emang selera ya. Ada yang nonton film Transformers tepok tangan sampe bercucuran air mata saking girangnya liat mobil2 itu berubah jadi robot *iya itu gw LOL* Ada juga yang pas nonton malah tidur saking menurut mereka gak seru. Jadi emang bener2 selera. Makanya pas nonton gw gak mau baper dengan komen2 itu. Gw tetap dengan membawa perasaan bahwa film ini pasti menarik. Apalagi kalo liat genrenya yaitu drama thriller yang biasanya gw dan hubby suka ya.

PS: I myself thought that this movie seemed to be lacking elements that made Ernest Prakasa's previous films enjoyable, such as the good script and really engaging characters. But the one that I definitely felt missing was the support characters who used to provide burst of laughters throughout the entire movie. For his first attempt in making a thriller movie though, I felt Ernest still has to be applauded and hopefully with more experience it would get better as there were still positives like the idea, the surprising twists and the wonderful background music.
