(TV SERIES) R. J. Decker Season 1 - OK Enough and Pretty Light Crime Drama Series

In the past few weeks, I noticed this new series made available in Disney+ along with the release of new season from several older shows. Two days ago I saw that the full episodes have been released so I decided to start watching as I was quite intrigued with the premise and managed to finish it last night. All right then, I'll just get right with it.

Brief Story Line

RJ Decker (Scott Speedman - Underworld, Animal Kingdom TV series etc) was a former photographer for a Newspaper who was imprisoned for 18 months due to some altercation in the past and now worked as a Private Investigator. After his home was no longer suitable to stay, RJ moved in to the pool house of his bisexual ex-wife Catherine Delacroix (Adelaide Clemens - Rectify TV series, Silent Hill: Revelation etc) who was now married with Florida police detective Mel Abreu (Bevin Bru - 57 Seconds etc). During the early stage, RJ usually got clients recommended by his former cell mate and a bar owner, Aloysius "Wish" Aiken (Kevin Rankin - Claws TV series, Hell or High Water etc).

Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu - The Continued Adventure of The Amazing Bounty Hunter and His Young Apprentice

This movie had been put under Coming Soon section in the Indonesian cinema chains schedule for many weeks now. As I like the series it was based on, I oviously wanted to see the movie in the theater. After two days playing, I finally got the chance to watch it together with my wife yesterday. All right then, let's just get on with the film.

Brief Story Line

Din Djardin aka The Mandalorian (Pedro Pascal - The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Wonder Woman 1984 etc)  together with his apprentice Grogu had been working for The New Republic capturing Imperial warlords and reporting to Colonel Ward (Sigourney Weaver - Avatar: Fire and Ash, A Monster Calls etc). After finishing a mission, he was tasked to capture another warlord whose location was hidden. In order to get the information, Mandalorian had no choice but to help free Rotta the Hutt (Jeremy Allen White - The Rental, The Bear TV series etc) from the clutch of Lord Janu (Jonny Coyne - The Toxic Avenger 2023, The Trial of Christine Keeler TV series etc).

(TV SERIES) Light to the Night - Multi Layered Mystery Series with Some Brilliant Acting and Pretty Awesome Story

This series was released on Netflix since last month which from its brief synopsis I was quite intrigued. But since the episodes were released daily, I had to wait for a while till it's almost completed and started watching few days ago & finally finished it last night. OK why don't I get on with the series then.

Brief Story Line

In 1997, a young woman and her father mysteriously disappeared in the Yuan Liongli apartment complex in Weiyang city. Rookie detective Ran Fangxu (Dylan Wang - Guardians of the Dafeng TV series, Meteor Garden 2018 series etc) was partnered with He Yuangshang (Pan Yueming - All's Well, And's Well 2010, Day and Night TV series etc) to investigate the case. Though they were really incompatible at first, Ran and He did their best to try solving the disappearance which slowly unraveled as more than just a simple case.

Jack Ryan: Ghost War - A Fast Paced Action Packed Movie with Character from Popular Novels

I was aware that there was going to be a Jack Ryan movie this year in continuation with the Prime Video series which I was obviously interested in. So once it was finally available yesterday, I immediately watch it. Without further ado, here's more on the movie.

Brief Story Line

After the events of the series finale, Jack Ryan (John Krasinski -Fountain of Youth, DC League of Super Pets etc) had stopped working for the CIA and working in Wall Street. But when his former boss Deputy Director Jim Greer (Wendell Pierce - Superman 2025, The Wire TV series etc) asked for his help to retrieve some package in Dubai, Jack could not resist. Accompanied by Mike November (Michael Kelly - The Penguin mini series, Viral etc), Jack finally met with the person. 

(Mini Series) The Wonderfools - A Fun, Light, Humorous and Entertaining Superhero Action Comedy Series

There were plenty of new and returning series during the present and last week on Netflix which made me having a bit of difficulty to choose (though it was a nice issue to have rather than nothing to watch). Anyway after few considerations, I decided to watch this one first as it looked like fun. All right then, let us just get right to it.

Brief Story Line

Story was set in the year 1999 in Haeseong city where Eun Chae-ni aka Trainwreck (Park Eun-bin - Road to Boston, Hyper Knife TV series etc) had been living all her life there with her very protective grandmother Mrs. Kim (Kim Hae-sook - Gyeongseong Creature TV series, Our Season etc). Chae-ni was best friends with Ro-bin aka Sap King (Im Seong-jae - The Ugly, Law and the City TV series etc) who worked at Mrs. Kim's restaurant and also Son Gyeong-hun aka Nightmare (Choi Dae-hoon - Uprising, Pro Bono TV series etc), an older guy who was married with a teenage daughter. Gyeong-hun loved to complain about anything to the government office where he ultimately met with Lee Eun-jeong (Cha Eun-woo - The First Ride, Wonderful World TV series etc), a civil servant who was given task to receive his complaints.

In the Grey - A Fun and Enjoyable Ride Guy Ritchie's Style

I knew this film was about to be released this week since the biggest cinema chain in Indonesia now always shows the schedule up to one or even two months ahead. At first I was a bit doubtful cause I never heard of the movie. But once I saw the lead stars and director, I thought I should give it a try. Yesterday my wife and I got the chance to see it in the theater very near to our home. Without further ado, here's more on the movie.

Manny Salazar (Carlos Bardem - Escobar: Paradise Lost, The Chosen One TV series etc) had been borrowing large amount of money from a Financial Institution but failed to return the loan. Bobby Sheen (Rosamund Pike - Now You See Me, Now You Don't, The Wheel of Time TV series etc) who worked at the Bank was assigned to recover the debt from Salazar and ultimately agreed to the proposal from Lawyer Rachel Wild (Eiza González - Godzilla Vs Kong, 3 Body Problems TV series etc) for arranging the recovery despite her huge success fee.

Timur - Directorial Debut of Iko Uwais Which Sadly Underperformed

This week, Netflix got plenty of new movies and series released, including several older shows from other networks that made me pretty busy playing catch up. But this film that was made available yesterday caught my attention so I decided to immediately watch it last night. All right then, why don't I get right to it.

Brief Story Line

A group of researchers that included few Indonesians and foreigners together with local guide Apollo (Aufa Assagaf) and Yoseph (Adhin Abdul Hakim) who went to East Indonesia were captured and taken hostage by terrorist group led by Tobias (Arnold Kobogau) and his right hand man Frans (Macho Hungan).

With negotiations going nowhere, the Indonesian government decided to do a military operation by the Special Forces Corps (Kopassus). Timur (Iko Uwais - Ash, Triple Threat etc) and his best friend Sila (Jimmy Kobogau) were among these elite soldiers who were assigned on this highly dangerous mission. 

The Punisher: One Last Kill - Would Be Even More Special With Longer Duration

I remember reading somewhere that there was going to be a Punisher TV special on Disney+ but I forgotten it was scheduled for release yesterday. So I ended up only watching it this morning once I had the chance. OK then, I'll just get right to it.

Brief Story Line

Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal - His & Hers mini series, The Amateur etc) who was suffering from PTSD had trouble in dealing with his loss and having no life purpose. But things became really bad for him when Ma Gnucci (Judith Light - The Menu, Who's the Boss? sitcom etc), the head of Gnucci crime family put a bounty on Frank.

With so many people trying to kill him, Frank had no choice but to fight them all.

Mortal Kombat II - An Even Bigger Adaptation of Popular Violent Martial Arts Game

As fans of martial arts movie, I would definitely not want to miss this one. But somehow on the day of its release, the film did not play in my favorite cinema to go to if I want to see blockbuster movies. So I ended up only seeing this yesterday with my wife. Without further ado, here's more on the film.

Brief Story Line

After the events of the first film, the remaining fighters from Earthrealm Cole Young (Lewis Tan - Wildcat, Wu Assassins TV series etc), Liu Kang (Ludi Lin - Aquaman, Kung Fu TV series etc), Jax (Mehcad Brooks -  A Fall From Grace, Law & Order TV series etc) and Sonya Blade (Jessica McNamee - CHiPs 2017 movie, Sirens TV series etc) were missing another person to compete with the Outworld. Together with Lord Raiden (Tadanobu Asano -  Kate, The Outsider etc),  Sonya tried to recruit washed up action actor Johnny Cage (Karl Urban - The Bluff, Thor: Ragnarok etc) which proved to be difficult as he did not want to risk his life even if he might not be able to avoid the tournament.

(TV SERIES) Legends Season 1 - Very Interesting Undercover Unit of Inexperienced Officers Inspired by Real Life Person

As I was searching for new things to watch last night after finishing another season of other series, I came acrossed this one which did not look so great at first. But as I read the brief synopsis, I was rather intrigued and decided to give it a try. OK then, I'll start on it now.

Brief Story Line

Story was set in the year 1990 Britain where heroin were flooding the country and the Prime Minister then decided to go on war against drugs. The head of Customs and Excise Department Angus Blake (Douglas Hodge - G20, Diana etc) was given task to stop the illegal importing of drugs. But without any additional budget, together with his Head of Operation Don Clark (Steve Coogan - Despicable Me 4, Our Idiot Brother etc), Blake decided to form an undercover team comprised of the Customs officers to infiltrate gang of drug dealers and find out their leaders to stop them.

(MINI SERIES) Prisoner Season 1 - Fast Paced & Action Packed 6 Part Action Thriller Series

I watched the trailer to this series on HBO Max few weeks ago and thought it looked really good. But I did not realize it was released on 30th April and only got the chance to watch it 2 days later. Anyway, why don't I just get right to the series now.

After taking maternity leave, Amber Todd (Izuka Hoyle - The Outpost TV series, Persuasion etc) left her baby daughter with her husband Olly (Finn Bennet - A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms TV series, Warfare etc) to return work as prison transport guard. (TV SERIES) Man on Fire Season 1 - A Less Action Packed Second Adaptation of the Popular 1980 Novel

Few weeks ago I already noticed this series promoted in Netflix under its Coming Soon section which was something that intrigued me. When it was finally released two days ago, I began watching and finished it last night. All right then, let's get right to it.

Brief Story Line

John Creasy (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II - Wonder Man TV series, Aquaman etc) was a former Special Forces who was suffering from PTSD for few years. His old friend from military Paul Rayburn (Bobby Cannavale - Scarpetta TV series, Blonde etc) tried to make John better by employing him in a military work in Rio de Janeiro, doing protection from terrorist attack. Despite his reluctance, John decided to go ahead and met with Paul's family, including his teenage daughter Poe (Billie Boullet - A Small Light mini series etc).

The Devil Wears Prada 2 - Still Enjoyable Sequel but the Original Left Better Impression

I found out about this movie few weeks ago which surprised me as it was a sequel to the film released many years ago (twenty to be exact). Anyway it was something that I was interested and after two days playing in Indonesian cinemas, my wife and I decided to see it noon today. OK then, here's more on the film.

Brief Story Line

Twenty years after the events of the first movie, Andy Sachs (Anne Hathaway - The Witches 2020 version, The Hustle etc) was already a successful journalist while the now online Runway magazine was still managed by Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep - Hoppers, Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again etc) with her right hand man Nigel Kipling (Stanley Tucci - Beauty & The Beast live action movie, Citadel TV series etc). 

After an unexpected turn of events, Andy was hired to work as editor of Runway and reunited with Miranda while having to deal with her demands. She later met with Emily (Emily Blunt - The Fall Guy, The Girl on the Train etc) who no longer work for Miranda. Things were very challenging for Andy as she found that handling online fashion magazine was different from conventional news media. Things became more complicated with the sudden change in leadership that would jeopardize Runway's livelihood.

(2026) Michael - A Biography of the King of Pop Focusing More on His Inspiring Side and Great Achievements

I have been eyeing to see this movie ever since it was made known in social media. Last week it had its advance ticket sale for Wednesday but not in my favorite studio. Unfortunately it only had one show during the following two days and by Friday it was no longer available there and was playing in few theaters. So my wife and I ended up having to see this yesterday in one of those limite options. Without further ado, here's more on the film.

Brief Story Line

Story focused on the life of Michael Jackson from his childhood years (portrayed by Juliano Krue Valdi) to his adulthood (portrayed by Jaafar Jackson). Michael was the youngest of a band with his older brothers named Jackson 5, formed, trained and managed by their father Joseph Jackson (Colman Domingo - The Running Man 2025 remake, Candyman 2021 version etc) who was very hard on them. Meanwhile their mother Katherine (Nia Long - Missing, Big Momma's House etc) was not really approving but she did not have courage to go against Joseph.

(2026) APEX - A Different Kind of Survival Thriller Movie

Yesterday this movie was released in Netflix as part of their Friday new movies line up. It was something that I was interested in after seeing the cast and the simple premise. When it was made available in the afternoon, I immediately gave it a try. OK let's just get to it then.

Brief Story Line

Five months after finishing rock climbing in the high Troll Wall of Norway with her husband Tommy (Eric Bana - Untamed mini series, King Arthur: Legend of The Sword etc), Sasha (Charlize Theron - The Old Guard 2, The Addams Family 2019 animated movie etc) went to Australia for another experience in the wild Wandarra National Park.

While looking for a specific location, Sasha asked direction from someone she just met named Ben (Taron Egerton - She Rides Shotgun, Smoke mini series etc). Unfortunately for Sasha, she became the object of a hunting "game" initiated by Ben where she had to escape in the wilderness.

Ready or Not 2: Here I Come - A Worthwhile Sequel to the Amazing 2019 Horror Comedy

Finally this movie was made available in Indonesia after premiering in the US roughly one month ago. It was released on Wednesday but due to my busy schedule, my wife and I only got the chance to see it yesterday. We saw it in the nearest cinema from our home. Without further ado, here's more on the film.

Brief Story Line

Immediately after the events in the first movie, Grace (Samara Weaving - Eenie Meanie, Guns Akimbo etc) was hospitalized and got a visit from her estranged younger sister Faith (Kathryn Newton - Ant-man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Detective Pikachu etc). Unfortunately, Grace must rejoin the game as explained by the Lawyer (Elijah Wood - The Toxic Avenger, Sin City etc) where she had to avoid being killed before dawn once again. Despite her flat rejection, Grace had no choice but to play as Faith was being used as collateral.

Balls Up - A Terrible Totally Not Funny Raunchy Comedy Movie

I did not realize there was new movie released by Prime Video two days ago and only noticed it yesterday. It looked like a fun comedy movie and since I was in the middle of a rather depressing series, I thought it would be a nice distraction for a while and watched it last night. All right then, let's get right to it.

Brief Story Line

Elijah DeBell (Paul Walter Hauser - Playdate, Inside Out 2 etc) and Brad Lewison (Mark Wahlberg - Play Dirty, Daddy's Home 2 etc) worked for a condom company who were trying to be the sponsor for 2025 Football World Cup Championship in Brazil. Elijah and Brad managed to convince Senior Santos (Benjamin Bratt - Coco, Law and Order TV series etc), the person in charge of sponsorship to appoint their company. However everything did not go as planned as they somehow managed to screw things up.

Thrash - An Enjoyable Enough Survival Thriller Movie

Two days ago, this film was made available on Netflix as part of their usual Friday new movie release. I thought the premise looked interesting so I did not hesitate to give it a try. So how was the movie then? Let us find out more, shall we?

Brief Story Line

When a category 5 hurricane called Henry was going to pass through the East Coast, the government of Annieville town which was right in the middle advised their people to evacuate. Unfortunately there were some who were still in town like Lisa (Phoebe Dynevor - Inheritance, Bridgerton TV series etc), a pregnant woman who was driving to get out of town, Dakota (Whitney Peak - Hocus Pocus 2, Gossip Girl 2021 series etc) a young woman who was alone in her house and trio of siblings Ron (Stacy Clausen - True Spirit docudrama etc) and his younger sister Dee (Alyla Browne - Sonic the Hedgehog 3 etc) & brother Will (Dante Ubaldi) who were told to stay inside the house with their foster parents. 

The King's Warden - Wonderfully Acted, Brilliantly Told & Beatufully Done Historical Drama Movie

I had been aware about this movie for a while now and became really interested when I read it was a major success in South Korea. But I did not realize it was already playing in Indonesia on Wednesday so we only saw it yesterday when we had the chance. It was a bit of challenge cause the movie did not play in that many studios. Luckily one of them was the cinema not far from our home. All right then, let us get on with the film.

Brief Story Line

Set during Joseon periode, the young King Yi Hong-wi (Park Ji-hoon - Weak Hero TV series, Audrey etc) was overthrown and demoted to a normal Lord called Nosan. Minister Han Myong-hoe (Yoo Ji-tae - Money Heist: Korea - Joint Economic Area TV series, The Swindlers etc) tried to push Nosan losing his will to live by putting him into exile. Meanwhile Cheongnyeongpo village chief Eom Heung-do (Yoo Hae-jin - Exhuma, Yadang: The Snitch etc) who heard about the nice things for an exile place, managed to convince Myong-hoe to choose his village and he himself became the Warden.

(2025) Red Sonja - A Very Mediocre Sword And Sorcery Movie Remake

I remember seeing poster to this movie long time ago in the biggest cinema chain in Indonesia, but it seemed the film was never released (or even if it was, it probably was so fast gone that I missed it). Anyway when I opened HBO Max two nights ago, I noticed this film was available there. But as it was rather late night, I decided to watch it following day. All right then, let us dive into the movie.

Brief Story Line

The red haired Sonja (Matilda Lutz - Reptile, Magpie etc) was a Hyrkanian who was separated from her tribe since childhood when the Barbarians invaded her homeland. All the years, Sonja had been trying to find the people from Hyrkania in the forest. One day she encountered some soldiers capturing wild animals and decided to free them but ended up getting into confrontation with Emperor Dragan (Robert Sheehan - The Umbrella Academy TV series, Bad Samaritan etc) who was accompanied by his protectors Annisia (Wallis Day - Krypton TV series, Sheroes etc) and General Karlak (Martyn Ford - House of David TV series, Final Score etc).

Project Hail Mary - Very Satisfying Science Fiction Film with Plenty of Heart Warming Moments Based on Critically Acclaimed Novel

I have been looking forward so much to this movie when it was released more than 2 weeks ago in the US. But since it was during the "black out" period in Indonesia to celebrate Eid al-Fitr holiday where only Indonesian films were given priority to be released, we had to wait till yesterday when it's finally available. It has advance ticket sale since last Friday and I did not hesitate to buy them immediately. OK then, let's just get on with the film.

Ryland Grace (Ryan Gosling - The Fall Guy, The Gray Man etc) was a middle school science teacher who woke up from induced coma in a space ship, suffering from amnesia. As he tried to assess his situation, Grace was able to slowly regain his memory and remembered that the sun was dying from an unknown micro organism. It was revealed that he was part of scientist group led by Eva Stratt (Sandra Hüller - Anatomy of a Fall, Munich - The Edge of War etc) studying and finding solution to save the world.

(TV SERIES) Agent From Above Season 1 - An Interesting Blend of Supernatural Fantasy in the Modern World

I was away on some urgent trip for the past few days and during the nights, I decided to watch this series that was released on 2 April. But since I did not really focus, I could only finished it last night after I returned back home. Without further ado, here's more on the series.

Brief Story Line

Han-Chieh (Kai Ko - Till We Meet Again, Let's Talk About Chu TV series etc) had been working to kill demons and supernatural beings for many years after becoming vessel for the Third Crown Prince God aka Nezha (Wang Po-chieh - 96 Minutes, Us Without Sex TV series etc) in the human world. When a young woman named Yeh Tzu (Buffy Chen - Million-Follower Detective TV series, Little Big Women etc) requested Han's help to investigate haunting in her home, he agreed to help her. She would later be helping Han in dealing with other issues as well. 

They Will Kill You - Bloody Violent Action Horror Comedy Movie

Yesterday this movie was released in Indonesia after playing in the US for a week. It was something that I was interested in since it sounded and looked good. I managed to convince my wife to accompany me despite having no knowledge what it was all about except its genre. Anyway, I'll just get right on it now.

Brief Story Line

Asia Reaves (Zazie Beetz - Good Luck, Have Fun, Don't Die, Deadpool 2 etc) who had been separated from her younger sister Maria (Myha'la - Leave the World Behind, Dead Man's Wire etc) for many years, took on a job as housemaid for an old building in New York managed by Lily (Patricia Arquette - Boyhood, Medium TV series etc). Asia met with few occupants including the wealthy business woman Sharon (Heather Graham - Boogie Nights, The Hangover etc) and also Kevin (Tom Felton - A Babysitter's Guide to Monster Hunting, Origin TV series etc). She would also later met with the mysterious Ray Woodhouse (Paterson Joseph - Timeless TV series, Wonka etc). 

Humint - A Dark Spy Action Thriller with Wonderfully Executed Action Sequence in the Second Half

This film has been promoted in the Coming Soon section of Netflix for a while and I was quite intrigued to watch as it seemed to be garnering quite attention. But two days ago when it was supposed to be shown, I was suprised that it was only available at 10 PM which obviously was too late at night. So I decided to postpone watching on the following day. All right then, let's get on with the movie.

Brief Story Line

Zo (Zo In-sung - Moving TV series, The Great Battle etc) was an experienced spy working for the South Korea and assigned in Vladivostok, Russia to investigate on the human trafficking ring together with Agent Lim (Jung Yoo-jin - Boss, DNA Lover TV series etc). They tried to convince a restaurant worker named Chae Seon-hwa (Shin Se-kyung - Tazza: The Hidden Card, Captivating the King TV series etc) to become their asset and provide info on the investigation.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie - Though Personally I Prefer The Original, This Is Still A Fun Sequel and Should Please Fans of The Games

Meanwhile Bowser Jr. (Benny Salfdie - Happy Gilmore 2, The Curse TV series etc) who followed in the footstep of his father Bowser (Jack Black - Anaconda 2025 reboot, Kung Fu Panda 4 etc) was trying to free him and plan to dominate the universe.

Keadilan - An Enjoyable Enough Indonesian Action Thriller Movie

When I saw this movie promoted in the Coming Soon section of Netflix, I already set my eyes on it. But somehow I missed out on the day it was released and only saw the day after. All right then, I'll just get on with the film then.

Raka (Rio Dewanto - Ben & Jody, Kamu Tidak Sendiri etc) had been working as security guard in the Court House witnessing various cases tried with the latest controversial one which resulted to injustice ruling. Meanwhile his pregnant wife Nina (Niken Anjani - 13 Bom di Jakarta, 1 Kakak 7 Ponakan etc) was in the final stage of studying to become a lawyer.

Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice - A Pretty Hilarious Action Comedy Movie with a Touch of Sci-Fi

I noticed this movie was made available in Disney+ two nights ago and was immediately interested. But as it was already rather late, I decided to watch it following day. Without further ado, here's more on the film.

Brief Story Line

On the night when crime boss Sosa (Keith David - Mufasa: The Lion King, Horizon Line etc) was celebrating his son Jimmy Boy (Jimmy Tatro - Stuber, You're Cordially Invited etc) being released from prison, one of the guests, loan shark Nick (Vince Vaughn - Bad Monkey  TV series, Wedding Crashers etc) was shown to be having strained relationship with his wife Alice (Eisa González - Ash, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare etc). I was aware about this series since few weeks ago which sounded interesting despite being a horror genre. So when it was finally released two days ago, I immediately gave it a try after finishing second season of another series and finished it last night. All right then, let's get on with it now.

Brief Story Line

Rachel (Camila Morrone - Death Wish 2018 remake, Daisy Jones & the Six mini series etc) and her fiancé Nicky (Adam DiMarco - The White Lotus season 2, The Order TV series etc) were on a road trip to Nicky's home to have their wedding party in one week's time. Along the way, Rachel kept on feeling something bad was going to happen and experienced few shocking and scary turn of events till they finally reached their destination.

Pretty Lethal - An Action Thriller Movie that was Purely For Fun and Pretty Entertaining

After finishing second season of one of my favorite series, I saw in the website for newly released films & series on various streaming platforms and noticed this movie was just made available on Prime Video. As it looked like fun, I decided to watch this first before continuing another series. OK then, why don't I just get right to it.

Brief Story Line

A group of ballerinas that consisted of the confident Bones (Maddie Ziegler - The Fallout, My Old Ass etc) the bitchy Princess (Lana Condor - Moonshot, To All the Boys movies etc), the religious Grace (Avantika - Mean Girls 2024 version, Tarot etc) and the sisters Zoe (Iris Apatow - The Bubble, Unstable TV series etc) & hearing impaired Chloe (Millicent Simmonds - A Quiet Place and its sequel) were invited to perform in Budapest. They went together with their teacher Thorna (Lydia Leonard - Last Christmas, A Woman of Substance TV series etc) to Hungary, but their trip was disrupted and they were forced to wait in a secluded inn quite far from the destination.

(TV SERIES) Scarpetta Season 1 - Could Have Been Better with More Technical Aspects and Less Dysfunctional Family Drama

As I was away for two weeks holiday, I was unable to catch new movies. And since I only got home late from all the walking around daily, I had very little time to see series at nights. However, last night I finally managed to finish a mystery series that was released on Prime Video since almost 2 weeks ago. So even though it's quite late, but I still want to write something about this series. All right then, let's just get right on it.

Brief Story Line

Story was told in two different timelines 28 years apart. In the present day, Dr. Kay Scarpetta (Nicole Kidman - Holland, A Family Affair etc) was just reappointed as Virginia's Chief Medical Examiner when a woman's body was found and her expertise was required to identify the cause of death. Kay enlisted her old colleague former Detective Pete Marino (Bobby Cannavale - Blonde, Super Intelligence etc) to assist her in specialist capacity. However Kay's work was sometimes a bit disturbed with her personal family issue from her older sister Dorothy (Jamie Lee Curtis - Haunted Mansion 2023, Knives Out etc) who she always had a fight with, to her niece/Dorothy's daughter the Tech genius Lucy (Ariana DeBose - Kraven the Hunter, Love Hurts etc) and Kay's husband the FBI profiler Benton Wesley (Simon Baker - The Mentalist TV series, Margin Call etc).

(2026) War Machine - A Highly Entertaining Full Action Sci-Fi Movie

I was aware about this movie since few weeks ago which totally interest me with its premise and lead star. Being major fan of action combined with some kind of science fiction element, made me very excited to watch it. That's why when it was released by Netflix on last Friday, I immediately gave it a try despite feeling a bit tired after seeing 2 films in a row in the cinema. Without further ado, here's more on the movie.

Brief Story Line

During the latest Ranger Assessment and Selection Program (RASP) a lot of candidates were trying their best to become part of the elite team,  including the experienced Staff Sergeant & war survivor who was referred to as 81 (Alan Ritchson - Playdate, Titans TV series etc). After a very intense 8 weeks program, many of the candidates were not selected, leaving only few who succeeded. For their final simulated exercise, 81 was appointed as team leader along with another Staff Sergeant referred to as 7 (Stephan James - 21 Bridges, Homecoming TV series etc), the loud mouth 15 (Blake Richardson - He Ain't Heavy etc), 44 (Alex King - The Longest Weekend etc), 57 (Daniel Webber - The Punisher TV series etc) and some others in a remote location.

Project Y - A Very Dark, Intense and Heavy Crime Thriller Movie

This movie was supposed to be released in all Indonesian cinemas on Friday, but in the morning when my wife and I were choosing where to see, we were surprised that it was not available in the biggest cinema chain. Hence we decided to see two other movies while postponing this the following day. Later that noon, the movie suddenly appeared on the list of that particular chain, however since we already bought other tickets, we only saw it on Saturday. All right then, let's just get on with the film.

Brief Story Line

Story focused on two women who were very close like sisters, i.e the calm straight thinking Mi-sun (Han Soo-hee - Gyeongseong Creature, Nevertheless TV series etc) who was working as escort girl and the impatient strong willed Do-kyung (Jeon Jong-seo - Ballerina, Queen Woo TV series etc) who worked as driver. They had saved all their money to start their own business. Unfortunately their plan was ruined due to some unforeseen circumstances.

Good Luck, Have Fun, Don't Die - A Very Interesting and Enjoyable Science Fiction Comedy Movie

As the second of our movie marathon two days ago, we opted to see this unique film that I was immediately intrigued when I saw its trailer few weeks before. Though it was not a blockbuster movie, but I thought its plot was very interesting. All right then, I'll just dive into the film.

Brief Story Line

On a rather busy night at a diner in Los Angeles, a man who claimed to be from the future (Sam Rockwell - Argylle, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri etc) tried to convince some of the customers to join him in the fight to change their fate. There were several people who were either forced or volunteer to join him, such as the teachers Mark (Michael Peña - All Her Fault mini series, Fantasy Island etc) and Janet (Zazie Beetz - Bullet Train, Joker etc), single mother Susan (Juno Temple - Venom: The Last Dance, Fargo season 5 etc), young woman referred to as Princess (Haley Lu Richardson - Ponies TV series, Split etc), Scott (Asim Chaudry - People Just Do Nothing mockumentary series, The Honeymoon etc) and few others. 

Hoppers - Funny & Entertaining With Simple Enough Story But Still Have Plenty of Heart Warming Moments

This week there were a lot of new movies released in Indonesian cinemas. I think since the operators wanted to focus on local films starting from next week as it is nearing the biggest holiday season in Indonesia, they opted to show them now while international movies will be available in 2 weeks time. My wife and I had another movie marathon yesterday and saw this one first. OK I'll just get to it then.

Mabel Tanaka (Piper Curda - The Wretched, I Didn't Do It TV series etc) had been living in Beaverton since her childhood years and loved all animals especially the ones in the glade. However when mayor Jerry Generazzo (Jon Hamm - Transformers One, Baby Driver etc) decided to build freeway passing through the glade, Mabel was adamant not to allow it happen as the animals had to move out. When Mabel found that her biology professor Dr. Sam Fairfax (Kathy Najimi - Sister Act, Veronica's Closet TV series etc) was conducting science experiment that would allow a person's mind to be transferred to an animal-like robot, she somehow got herself to be part of it and hopped to the body of a beaver. 

(TV SERIES) Young Sherlock Season 1 - Interesting Take on the Famous and Beloved Brilliant Detective During His Younger Days

I found out about this series just recently on the internet and was interested because of the title. So when the whole episodes were released two days ago on Prime Video, I immediately started watching and finished it last night. Without further ado, I'll get right on it. 

Brief Story Line

Set during 19th century London, young & intelligent Sherlock Holmes (Hero Fiennes Tiffin - The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, The Loneliest Boy in The World etc) was getting into so much trouble that his older brother Mycroft (Max Irons - Crooked House, Condor TV series etc) decided he should go to Oxford. Meanwhile their mother Cordelia (Natascha McElhone - The Secret of Moonacre, Halo TV series etc) had been in asylum for many years due to incident during Sherlock's childhood years, and their father Silas Holmes (Joseph Fiennes - Shakespeare in Love, The Handmaid's Tale TV series etc) was always away on business trips. 

Panda Plan: The Magical Tribe - Just Like Its Predecessor, Still Not An Entertaining Jackie Chan's Action Comedy

A couple of weeks ago, I saw the trailer to this latest Jackie Chan movie which was going to be released after Chinese New Year. Although it has advanced ticket sale last week, but I opted not to buy them and decided to just do it during the weekend. Anyway yesterday my wife and I went to see it in the cinema nearest to our home. All right then, I'll get right on with the movie.

Brief Story Line

While passing through a remote location, Jackie (Jackie Chan - Unexpected Family, Kung Fu Yoga etc) and his beloved panda friend Huhu somehow got themselves into a hidden place in the mountains inhabited by strange local tribe led by its Chieftain (Ma Li - The Dumpling Queen, Unbeatable You TV series etc). Huhu was mistakenly recognized as divine creature like the tribe's prophecy that she would be able to prevent major catastrophe by going to the mountain top together with a messenger. Jackie who was thought to be the messenger obviously did not want to do the task and tried to get out of the village with Huhu. 

Scream 7 - Still As Entertaining As Previous Installment of The Successful Slasher Movie Series

Once again a new slasher movie was released in the theater. As it is one of my favorite horror genre and sequel to the film series that I had seen from beginning, obviously I was interested in seeing this. So yesterday my wife and I went to our favorite cinema to watch it. Without further ado, here's more on the movie.

Brief Story Line

Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell - The Lincoln Lawyer TV series, The Craft etc) had been living a peaceful life in Pine Grove, married with the Police Chief Mark Evans (Joel McHale - Community TV series, Ted etc) and had 3 children, with the oldest already a teenager named Tatum (Isabel May - I Want You Back,1883 TV series etc). Due to her past experience, Sidney was always careful with Tatum's friends especially her boyfriend Ben (Sam Rechner - The Fabelmans, Heartbreak High TV series etc). When Sidney started receiving calls from people claiming to be Ghostface, she did not consider it until the killing really began. 

The Bluff - A Pretty Entertaining Swashbuckler Action Movie

I was not aware that this movie was released on Wednesday in Prime Video till the following day when I was looking at new release on streaming platforms. Without hesitation, I immediately watched it last night as it was the kind of film that interest me. OK, let's just get on with it then.

Brief Story Line

Set in the 19th century where some pirates were still roaming the Carribbean sea, a merchant ship with its Captain T. H. Bodden (Ismael Cruz Cordova - The Pickup, Berlin Station TV series etc) were attacked by pirate ship led by notorious Captain Connor (Karl Urban - The Boys TV series, Star Trek: Beyond etc) along with Quartermaster Lee (Temuera Morrison - The Wrecking Crew, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom etc). Connor decided to find Bodden's home after finding something that he had been searching for years.

(TV SERIES) A Knight of The Seven Kingdoms Season 1 - Highly Praised Fantasy Series Set in the Same Universe of Game of Thrones

I have seen so many articles about this series on the internet which made me very intrigued to give it a try. But as it was released an episode per week, I wanted to wait till its completion before starting to watch. The final episode was released on Monday and I immediately gave it a try on that night & finished it yesterday. All right then, I'll go straight with the series now.

Brief Story Line

Set some 90 years before the events in Game of Thrones, a young squire named Dunk (Peter Claffey - Small Things Like This, Wreck TV series etc) had inherited three horses, sword, armor and shield from his master Ser Arlan (Danny Webb - Churchill, Liar TV series etc) who just past away and knighted him. After considering his options, Dunk (short for Duncan) decided to go to a tournament in Ashford to make a name for himself. During his journey there, Dunk met a young boy at an inn called Egg (Dexter Sol Ansell - The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes etc) who proposed himself to become his squire. Despite his initial disagreement, Dunk decided to accept Egg due to his persistence and ability to reach Ashford without his help.

(TV SERIES) The Judge Returns - A Well Done Legal Drama With Interesting Plot, A Little Bit of Fantasy Element and Entertaining Battle of Strategies

This series was made available on HBO Max in Indonesia since few weeks ago. I was not too sure if it would be interesting, but my wife who loved the acting of its lead cast was immediately intrigued. After watching several episodes, she highly recommended me to give it a try which I did from last weekend & managed to finish it last night. So how was the series then? Let us get into it now, shall we?

Brief Story Line

Lee Han-young (Ji Sung - Confession, Connection TV series etc) was a corrupt judge in Seoul who agreed to sway decision in favor of the ones willing to bribe him. However after an incident, he had a change of heart and turned his life around to clean corrupt Korean justice system powered by senior judge Kang Sin-jin (Park Hee-soon - My Name TV series, The Policeman's Lineage etc). Realizing he could not do everything alone, Han-young reconnected with his high school best friend Seok Jeong-ho (Tae Won-seok - Good Boy TV series, My Puppy etc) who was now a successful loan shark. He also enlisted the help of prosecutors Park Cheol-woo (Hwang Hee - Love Song for Illussion TV series etc) and Kim Jin-ah (Won Jin-ah - Secret: Untold Melody, Hellbound TV series etc), plus the support from reporter Song Na-yeon (Baek Jin-hee - The Real Has Come TV series etc).

Blades of the Guardians - Very Entertaining Martial Arts Movie with Some Brilliantly Done Fight Sequence

I have been highly anticipating this movie ever since I found out about it more than a month ago. But since it was released while my wife and I were away on holiday, I only got the chance to see it four days after it was available in Indonesia. Without further ado, here's more on the second of our movie marathon day. 

Brief Story Line

Set during the Sui dynasty era, Dao Ma (Wu Jing - Meg 2: The Trench, Wolf Warrior 2 etc) was a well known bounty hunter who himself was actually the second wanted man in the country. One day he was asked by his benefactor, the chief of Moji village Lao Mo (Tony Leung Ka Fai -  Legend of the Condor Heroes: The Gallants, The Lover etc) to escort the most wanted man Zhi Si Lang (Sun Yi Zhou - iPartment series, This is Not What I Expected etc) to Chang'an capital. Despite his reluctance, Dao Ma fulfilled the request and went there together with the child under his protection Xiao Qi, Lao Mo's daughter Ayuya (Opera performer Chen Li Jun) and her bodyguard Ani (Xiong Jin Yi - My Sassy Deskmate TV series etc).

(2026) Crime 101 - A Pretty Well Adaptation of Highly Praised Crime Thriller Novella

After spending a week's vacation out of town, I was in the mood to see films that I missed out while I was away. So yesterday my wife and I decided to have movie marathon and saw two of them in one of our favorite cinemas. Without further ado, here's more on the first film.

Brief Story Line

An intelligent jewel thief who went by the name Mike (Chris Hemsworth - Transformers One, Extraction etc) had been doing various robberies without using violence and always managed to escape via route 101. Detective Lou Lebinsky (Mark Ruffalo - Mickey 17, Dark Waters etc) from LAPD was able to link the robberies done by Mike who he dubbed as lone wolf, although his partner Tillman (Corey Hawkins - 6 Underground, The Color Purple etc) and other colleagues were skeptical about his theory.

(Mini Series) The Art of Sarah - An Intricate and Complex Mystery Thriller Series

Since I was on holiday the past week with my wife, I only got the chance to watch things on streaming service when I was back at hotel at night. After completing different series earlier on Netflix, I opted to watch another one that I thought sounded interesting. It was actually released exactly last week but I only started to watch three nights ago and completed it last night after I returned home. All right then, let us get into the series now.

Brief Story Line

When the body of a young woman was found in the sewer, Detective Park Mu-gyeong (Lee Joon-hyuk - Mercy for None mini series, The Roundup: No Way Out etc) was assigned to investigate the case. He was assisted by energetic rookie detective Jae-hyeon (Shin Hyun-seung - Han River Police TV series etc) who was eager to prove his worth. The body was later identified as the Boudoir luxury brand regional head Sarah Kim (Shin Hye-sun - Following, Welcome to Samdal-ri TV series etc) by her friend Jeong Yeo-jin (Park Bo-kyung - Genie, Make a Wish TV series, Hopeless etc) who was also the largest investor of Boudoir.
