We decided to see this at my favorite cinema with Dolby Atmos system not far from our home to enjoy the awesome sound effects. Without further ado, below are more details of the movie.

(SPECIAL SCREENING) Miss & Mrs Cops - A Hilarious Buddy Cops Movie Filled With Fun & Laughs

It was another happy day for me and my wife when just after seeing a good movie on Sunday, she got invited to a screening of another South Korean movie that I thought would be fun just by looking at the title. Without any doubt, we accepted the invitation for the event last night at CGV Grand Indonesia, despite a bit of worry to reach the area due to some of the roads towards there were still closed because of the various demonstration few days earlier. Anyway, my wife and I managed to be there quite on time without hassle and the movie also started only few minutes behind schedule. Well let us get on with the film now.

Brief Story Line

Park Mi-yeong (Ra Mi-ran - Reply 1988 TV series, The Himalayas etc) was a former police woman who was assigned to the public service department after being married to a goofy but very loving husband Ji-chul (Yoon Sang-hyun - Queen of Housewives etc). Meanwhile a rookie police detective named Ji-hye (Lee Sung-kyung - Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-joo TV series, Love + Sling etc) was given disciplinary sanction due to her over enthusiasm in handling a particular case and was also assigned at the same department with Mi-yeong.

Ever since I saw the movie's title promoted in the social medias of some Indonesian cinema chains, I was quite intrigued especially after I read the brief synopsis. It premiered on last Wednesday but I could only see it in the weekend due to some scheduling conflicts. Finally yesterday evening my wife and I got the chance to see the movie, even if we were late by few minutes as we came back from food tasting events quite far from the cinema location. Anyway, let us get on with the movie now.

Brief Story Line

(2019) Aladdin - An Enjoyable Ride and A Decent Live Action Remake of 1992 Classic

I was pretty surprised that this movie got so much promotion in Indonesia and it even got the Advance Ticket sales event which was quite rare and normally given to major blockbuster movies such as those superheroes films. Anyway my wife and I bought the tickets since last weekend for its premier date show. Even if there was some chaotic moments due to the heated political condition in Indonesia particularly on that day, our studio was still packed with audience, though some studios in the area of demonstrations were not so lucky as they had to cancel few or entire show for the day. OK enough of that stuff and let's just get on with this movie.

Brief Story Line

In the kingdom of Agrabah, a petty thief named Aladdin (Mena Massoud) and his pet monkey called Abu was quite infamous for his acts. One day he somehow met and became attracted to princess Jasmine (Naomi Scott - Power Rangers the movie etc). As he was trying his best to be close to her, Aladdin found himself trapped in the political struggle masterminded by the evil Prime Minister Jafar (Marwan Kenzari) to become the most powerful person in Agrabah.

UglyDolls - A Great Idea Sadly Rather Poorly Executed

I found out about this movie when it was promoted in certain Indonesian cinemas websites and it premiered on Wednesday. I also read somewhere that the movie was not really well received, but my wife and I were willing to give it a try as we wanted to check and see it on our own before deciding if a movie is good or bad. However, as we were already having other things planned these past few days, we only got the chance to see it today. So will go on with the movie now.

Brief Story Line

In the world where defect dolls called Uglydolls were "thrown" into a place called Uglyville, the residents were happily living in peace with its mayor Ox (Blake Shelton). Moxy (Kelly Clarkson - From Justin to Kelly) was one of them who always dreamt of going to the outside world and be adopted by a child, but her wish never came true. Until one day, she decided to find out the way to fulfill her dreams. Together with her friends the wise Lucky Bat (Wang Leehom - Lust, Caution etc), the big & having many things in his pocket Babo (Gabriel Iglesias), the cool Ugly Dog (Singer Pittbull) and the sarcastic Wage (Wanda Sykes - Ice Age:Collision Course etc), they embarked on a journey to find ways to the outside world.

John Wick Chapter 3: Parabellum - Fights, Fights and More Fights!

Finally I got the chance to see this movie on its 3rd day in Indonesia. I was unable to see it on its premier date due to office function and I was not keen on seeing this in the small size studio with average sound effects. So last night my wife and I bought the tickets for the 6.20 PM show at Epicentrum which was just nice as it would not be too late at night when the movie finished. Well we shall get on with the movie now.

Brief Story Line (warning possible spoiler)

Set exactly after the events in the previous movie, John Wick (Keanu Reeves - Speed, Siberia etc) had become excommunicado and exiled from the league of assassins. A major bounty was put on his head and all the killers in that league wanted to kill him, including a highly skilled assassin Zero (Mark Dacascos - Crying Freeman, Cradle 2 the Grave etc) and his pupils. John had no choice but to seek help from some of his old acquaintances such as a former assassin Sofia (Halle Berry - Kingsman: The Golden Circle, Swordfish etc) and a mysterious Russian lady (Anjelica Huston - The Grifters, The Addams Family etc).

(TV SERIES) Impulse Season 1 - An Intriguing Series from Jumper Universe

When I was browsing through the list of series that I planned to watch, I noticed this one which had been there for quite some time. I was intrigued by it since it seemed like an interesting science fiction series. As it only has 10 episodes for the first season and it was already shown back in 2018, I thought this would be a good time to start watching it. And it took me around 3 days to finish it, which surprisingly took longer than I foresaw. Anyway, let us get on with the series now.

Brief Story Line

Henrietta "Henry" Coles (Maddie Hason - Twisted TV series etc) was a teenager who just moved to a small town with her single mother Cleo (Missi Pyle - A Haunted House 2, The Artist etc). They lived together with Cleo's boyfriend who also had a daughter similar to Henry's age named Jenna (Sarah Desjardins). Henry was feeling like an outcast in school, especially since she was a loner and was distant with Jenna who was a popular girl.

(SPECIAL SCREENING) Touken Ranbu - Live Adaptation of the Highly Popular Video Game from Japan

I noticed about this movie as part of the new films to be shown in CGV and as luck would have it, my wife got another invitation to the special screening a week before its wide release. However, due to some reasons, we were only allowed to post our views about the movie today. Anyway, I wrote this post few days ago after the screening since I wanted to write them while it was still fresh in my memory. So what was the movie about? Let us go into detail below.

Brightburn - A Quite Different Kind of Horror Movie, Likely Inspired by a Famous Superhero Tale

This was a movie that did not garner a lot of attention in Indonesian theaters (at least not to me). I never saw its trailer shown before and I only know very little of the movie from its very brief synopsis. As it premiered yesterday while I was on special screening with my wife for another upcoming movie, I only got the chance to see it today. OK let us move on with the film now.

Brief Story Line

A married couple of Tori (Elizabeth Banks - The Lego Movie 2 & its prequel etc) and Kyle Breyer (David Denman - 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi etc) were having difficulties to have kids. But one night they got a miracle in the form of a baby boy whom they found in the woods. Years later, the boy who was named Brandon (Jackson A. Dunn) had grown into a healthy, very intelligent kid.

Detective Pikachu - An Adorable Pikachu Movie With Tons of Cuteness of "Real Life" Pokémon

This is a movie which was pretty intriguing to me. I heard about a live adaptation of this popular character from popular TV series & game. It was played by so many people (including me and my wife) and we got to know some (not all) the Pokémon (Pocket Monsters). Anyway those who have knowledge about this game or had seen the animated series years ago would probably love that very cute monster named Pikachu which happened to be the main cast in this movie. So obviously we were interested in seeing how fun this movie would be. Well let us get on with it then.

Brief Story Line

Tim (Justice Smith - Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom etc) was a young man who was one of the rare people that did not really enjoy the company of Pokémon. But when he got news from Lt. Yoshida (Ken Watanabe - The Last Samurai, Inception etc) about his father's accident in the city of Ryme where Pokémon were partners with humans, he had to adapt a bit. He found a talking Pikachu (voiced by Ryan Reynolds - The Hitman's BodyguardDeadpool 2 etc) who claimed he would be able to help Tim find out what happened to his father.

Long Shot - Hardly A Classic Rom-Com But Still Pretty Enjoyable and Fun

I saw the trailer to this movie once a week ago and I thought it seemed like a fun comedy film. When it finally premiered yesterday, my wife and I immediately purchased two tickets for the 6.25PM show. It was quite fortunate that the film also played in the cinema near to our home as I was not really in the mood to go too far on that day. Well what was the movie all about? Let us find out below.

Brief Story Line

A smart and idealist journalist named Fred Flarsky (Seth Rogen - Kungfu Panda trilogy, Knocked Up etc) went to a party with his best friend Lance (O'Shea Jackson Jr. - Den of Thieves etc) when he met with the woman he adored since adolescent years, the US Secretary of State Charlotte Field (Charlize Theron - Atomic Blonde, North Country etc).

(SPECIAL SCREENING) (2018) The Vanishing - An Intriguing Tale of The Mysterious Disappearance of Lighthouse Keepers in Scotland

My wife got another invitation to the special screening of a rather new movie starring Gerard Butler one day before its premier date which we accepted graciously. Despite the unfriendly weather on that night, I still manage to get to CGV cinema Grand Indonesia ahead of the 7PM registration schedule. After few interesting trailers of upcoming new movies in CGV, the movie finally began at 8PM.

Brief Story Line

Set in the year 1900 in Scotland, three men were assigned to guard a lighthouse on Flannan Isles for 6 weeks. The leader was the veteran Thomas (Peter Mullan - My Name is Joe etc) accompanied by the experienced James (Gerard Butler - How to Train Your Dragon:The Hidden World, London Has Fallen etc) and the new recruit & youngest Donald (Connor Swindles - Sex Education TV series). All three started their shift after taking over the previous team.
