Weathering With You - Another Lovely Work from Makoto Shinkai

I was interested in seeing this movie due to being dubbed as another work from Makoto Shinkai, who was quite famous for directing one of the loveliest anime movie I had ever seen, i.e. Your Name aka Kimi no Nawa. Anyway, as the movie only played in certain cinema chains, I set my mind to see this during the weekend but it was not meant to be as I underestimated the enthusiasm of his fans since the studios were mostly fully booked. But finally I got the chance to see it yesterday. Well enough of that, and let's just get to the movie now.

Brief Story Line

Hodaka Morishima (Kotaro Daigo) was a 16 year old high school student who ran away from home to Tokyo only to find that life was very difficult. Luckily he managed to get a job from Keisuke Suga (Shun Oguri) to become an apprentice in his magazine. There was also another college girl named Natsumi (Tsubasa Honda) who worked part time.

47 Meters Down: Uncaged - A Pretty Decent Horror Survival Movie

When I saw the title to this movie, I immediately remember the film that my wife and I saw 2 years ago titled 47 Meters Down and it is indeed the sequel (at least according to Wikipedia). As it played in the theater nearest to our home, we did not hesitate to buy the 7 PM show. So let's get ready to see some sharks now.

Angel Has Fallen - The Third Movie of the "Super" Secret Service Agent Mike Banning Franchise

I noticed about this movie few weeks ago when I was looking at the list of upcoming films in Indonesia. It was another sequel to the action movies I quite enjoyed then. But it did not seem to be garnering a lot of hype here, probably because the trailer was never shown at all and it only played in 1 cinema chain, albeit the largest one. Anyway, my wife and I went to see this in our favorite Dolby Atmos theater. OK I am going to go ahead with the movie now.

Brief Story Line

Secret Service Agent Mike Banning (Gerard Butler - The Vanishing, Hunter Killer etc) was now given the assignment of protecting president Trumbull (Morgan Freeman - The Nutcracker and the Four Realms, The Shawsank Redemption etc). His life seemed to be in best shape as he was in contention to be promoted and had a real good life with his wife Leah (Piper Perabo - Coyote Ugly, Covert Affairs TV series etc) and baby daughter plus enjoying his friendship with his old army buddy Wade Jennings (Danny Huston - Wonder Woman, The Aviator etc).

The Divine Fury - Quite an Amazing Horror Drama with Some Exorcism and Spiritual Journey

I was planning to see this movie when it was having its limited release more than a week ago, but the timing and location was not perfect and thus I only got the chance to see it yesterday. It was the second of my movie marathon day. My wife was willing to accompany me see this despite being a horror movie (because she is quite a fan of the main lead). Anyway, will go on with the film now.

Brief Story Line

Yong-hu (Park Seo-joon - Midnight Runners, What's Wrong with Secretary Kim TV series etc) was a MMA fighter and champion who had a really bad experience in the past which made him lose faith in God and his religion. However, he somehow experienced an incident that would lead him to question his own faith, especially after he met with an exorcist, Father Ahn (Ahn Sung-ki - Unbowed, Two Cops etc).

This movie actually premiered in Indonesian theaters on Friday but as me and my wife were invited to a special screening of a brand new movie to be released this week, we only got the time to see this yesterday. We chose to do it in the cinema at Grand Indonesia where we could continue with another movie that we had not seen eiter. Ok I'll just proceed with the film now.

Brief Story Line

After the events from The Angry Birds Movie, Red (Jason Sudeikis - Colossal, Hall Pass etc) who was now considered as hero was always protecting the island from pranks by their neighbor Pigs led by Leonard (Bill Hader - Power Rangers movie version etc). But when a new kind of danger looming the two islands, Leonard asked Red to join forces against that danger which was coming from a group of eagles led by the ruthless Zeta (Leslie Jones - Ghostbusters 2016 version etc).

(SPECIAL SCREENING) Exit - A Highly Entertaining Disaster Action Comedy from the Producer of Battleship Island

Since last week, this movie was getting a lot of hype as it was promoted by quite a number of people. Then my wife got the invitation to the special screening of this film which obviously made us excited. Despite a new animated movie that started to premier yesterday, we still opted to see this film as we did not want to miss the chance to see this South Korean hit before its wide release next week. Well without further ado, let's get into the movie now.

Brief Story Line

Yong-nam (Jo Jung-suk -  My Annoying Brother, Oh My Ghost TV series etc) was kind of a slacker and had been unemployed for some time. During the birthday celebration of his mother Hyeon-ok (Go Doo-shim), his whole family including his father Jang-soo (Park In-hwan - Miss Granny etc), older sister Jung-hyun (Kim Ji-young - Forever the Moment etc) and many others went to a restaurant where the girl Yong-nam had a crush on named Eui-joo (Yoona - Confidential Assignment, God of War Zhao Yun TV series etc) worked.

Escape Plan: The Extractors - Still not Able to Exceed the Original but At Least Slightly More Enjoyable than the Second Film

I was a bit hesitant to give this movie a try, especially since the previous movie sucked. But when I saw the trailer, there was the appearance of Max Zhang which quite interest me. So I decided to see this movie yesterday when it premiered. I did not ask my wife to accompany me as I doubt she would enjoy this anyway. And how was it? Well I'll tell you more below.

When Daya Zhang (Malese Jow - Unfabulous TV series etc), the daughter of a rich Chinese businessman Wu Zhang (Russel Wong - Vanishing Son TV series etc) was kidnapped and put in an Eastern Europe prison by a mysterious person (Devon Sawa - Final Destination, Idle Hands etc), the experienced security consultant Ray Breslin (Sylvester Stallone - Creed 2, The Expandables series etc) was somehow dragged into a rescue mission. 

(TV SERIES) The Boys Season 1 - A Dark and Twisted Series that Would Reshape the Superhero Genre

I noticed about this series while I was reading some random entertainment news and felt it had a very interesting plot. With only 8 episodes in the first season plus a high critical & audience rating, I was really intrigued to watch it. Well what was the story all about? Let us find out more below.

Brief Story Line

Set in the world where superheroes were a common phenomenon, several high profile heroes were grouped as The Seven which was led by their most famous and strongest hero Homelander (Antony Starr - Banshee TV series). Some of The Seven members were also very popular such as Queen Maeve (Dominique McElligott - House of Cards TV series etc), the speedster A-Train (Jessie Usher - Independence Day: Resurgence etc), and The Deep (Chace Crawford - Gossip Girl TV series etc) who could breathe underwater. Their latest member was Annie (Erin Moriarty - Blood Father etc) aka Starlight. The Seven and some of the lesser known superheroes were part of a large corporation of Vought International, with their Senior VP Madelyn (Elisabeth Shue - Death Wish 2018 version, The Saint etc) who was instrumental in ensuring they were huge success and making profit for the company.

Dora and the Lost City of Gold - A Delightful and Entertaining Live Version of the Popular Animated Character

Well this was one movie that was pretty intriguing. I know about the popular character from children's animated series and they decided to make it into a live version. Obviously I wanted to know how they could pull this off. As it did not play in the nearest theater from my home, we had to go a little bit further just to catch the 6.45 PM show. Anyway, I will just start on the movie now.

Dora (Isabela Moner - Instant Family, Transformers: The Last Knight etc) had been living in the jungle with her parents Elena (Eva Longoria - Desperate Housewives TV series, Visions etc) and Cole (Michael Peña - 12 Strong, The Lego Ninjago Movie etc) for many years. When her parents seemed to went missing while searching for the lost city of Parapata, Dora with her cousin Diego (Jeff Wahlberg - Future World etc) and other high school students Sammy (Madeleine Madden) and Randy (Nicholas Coombe) were somehow unintentionally caught in the middle of a "mission" to look for Elena and Cole.

Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark - A Pretty Fun & Enjoyable Horror Movie though Probably not Scary Enough for Hard Core Fans of the Genre

I was getting anxious when until Tuesday night, there seemed to be only 1 new movie released on Wednesday (a South Korean movie featuring highly popular group with large fan base). But turned out there was indeed another movie released yesterday, albeit a horror one. My wife who was not a fan of horror movie decided to accompany me to see this one. So how was the movie? Will tell you more below.

Brief Story Line

Set in the year 1968, a group of teenagers that consisted of Stella (Zoe Colletti - Skin etc), Chuck (Austin Zajur), Auggie (Gabriel Rush) and their new found friend Ramon (Michael Garza) went to a supposedly haunted house during the Halloween night while being chased by the school bully Tommy (Austin Abrams). Inside the house, they somehow found a book that seemed to be written by Sarah Bellows, the one that was said to be haunting the house.

(TV SERIES) Hanna Season 1 - An Average Remake/Re-imagining of the Intense 2011 Movie

Now I read about this series somewhere sometime ago and was thinking it seemed interesting, being adapted from quite a successful movie at that time. Since I am a sucker for an action series, and with only 8 episodes, it seemed like a sure choice for me to watch a new series. Well let's see if lived up to my expectations.

Brief Story Line

Hanna (Esme Creed-Miles) was a teenager who had been raised in the forest of Poland by his father Erik Heller (Joel Kinnaman - Altered Carbon TV series, The Darkest Hour etc) with various survival skills which included fighting, hunting, shooting and also various languages. Reason for such training was because Hanna was related to an off book CIA experiments referred to as Project Utrax, and at any point of time, they would want to capture her.

Fast and Furious: Hobbs & Shaw - A Spectacular Ride and Worthy of Being Spinoff from Fast & Furious Series

This is one of the most anticipated movie in my list and it was great that the Indonesian cinemas opened advance ticket sales from last week, making me and my wife easier to aim for the studio and time of our choosing. As usual, we would opt to see this kind of movie in a Dolby Atmos theater on its premier date. OK, I would not go into so much detail and get straight to the movie.

When a dangerous virus that could endanger human lives was being targeted by a team of highly skilled ex military led by Brixton (Idris Elba - The Dark Tower, Star Trek Beyond etc), one MI6 personnel (Vanessa Kirby - Mission: Impossible - Fallout, Everest etc) managed to escape the attack along with the virus. DSS agent Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson - Skyscraper, Baywatch movie etc) and Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham - The Meg, Mechanic: Resurrection etc) were asked to capture the agent with the virus.
