Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Train - As Great & Amazing as the Series

I have been aware about this movie for quite some time as it made a lot of headlines, breaking numerous records. When it was finally released in Indonesia, I did not watch it as it was still during the pandemic time. Few days ago though, it was finally available via online streaming on Catchplay+ (without additional fee) and I decided to watch this during the weekend. OK, let's get started now.

Brief Story Line

Set exactly after the end of 1st season, the 3 young Demon Slayers: Tanjiro Kamado (Natsuki Hanae - Digimon Adventure tri. etc), Zenitsu (Hiro Shimono - Attack on Titan Final Season etc) and Inosuke (Yoshitsugu Matsuoka - Sword Art Online The Movie: Ordinal Scale etc) went on board the train for their latest mission. Tanjiro as usual also brought along his demon sister Nezuko (Akari Kitō - The Demon Girl Next Door etc).

Spontaneous - Extremely Dark Teen Drama Romance Movie with a Touch of Sci-Fi

I have seen the promotion of this movie on HBO for a while now and I was intrigued by its interesting premise. It was not a brand new film, but it has a limited theatrical release back in October 2020 which was not that long ago either. So when it was released yesterday on HBO Go, I immediately watch it. All right, will get to the movie now.

Brief Story Line

Mara Carlyle (Katherine Langford - Cursed, 13 Reasons Why TV series etc) was just a normal senior high school student at Covington High with her best friend Tess (Hayley Law - Altered Carbon TV series etc). But their lives changed when one of their classmates spontaneously combust in classroom. After that incident, Mara grew close with fellow classmate Dylan (Charlie Plummer - All the Money in the World, Words on Bathroom Floors etc) who had been having a crush on her for a while.

Good On Paper - Not Your Typical Romantic Comedy Movie

As I have been very busy these past weeks, my time of watching movies/series was quite limited. But yesterday I just felt the need to watch something new, fresh and fun. So while browsing through Netflix, I came across this rom-com which seemed to be light and fun enough. Well, let's find out more, shall we?

Brief Story Line

Andrea Singer (Iliza Shlesinger - Spenser Confidential etc) was a 30 something stand-up comedian who felt that her life was not going the way she thought would be. She was irritated with Serrena (Rebecca Rittenhouse - Four Weddings and a Funeral TV series etc) who seemed to always got better gigs in acting, while she herself became comedian. Andrea's best friend Margot (Margaret Cho - Drop Dead Diva TV series etc) had always been encouraging her to not being so salty with life and enjoy what she had.

(TV SERIES) Big Shot Season 1 - Fun and Interesting Sports Drama Original Series from Disney+

While browsing through Disney+ in recent weeks, I noticed this series which seemed like fun. But I wanted to wait till it was completed before starting to watch the full season. And this week the season finale was already shown, so I gave it a try yesterday and finished it very fast. OK, let's get on with it now.

Brief Story Line

Marvyn Korn (John Stamos - Full House, Grandfathered TV series etc) was a highly successful University Basketball coach whose bad temperament and latest antics resulted him being sacked and the only job he could acquire was to coach a basketball team in Westbrook private school for girls in San Diego. He has to report to the Dean, Sherilyn Thomas (Yvette Nicole Brown - Community TV series etc) who did not really like his presence. There was also school counselor George Pappas (Richard Robichaux) who was not a fan of Marvyn due to his past bad behavior.

Luca - Another Lovely Piece from Pixar Animation Studios

Yesterday I got notification that a new Pixar movie was released on Disney+ that I have been eyeing for quite some time. So I decided to watch this one first as it was interesting for me. Without further ado, here's more on the movie.

Brief Story Line

Set in the coast of Portorosso, a small city in Italy, a young sea monster named Luca (Jacob Tremblay - Good Boys, Doctor Sleep etc) was living under the sea with his very protective mother Daniela (Maya Rudolph - The Mitchells Vs. the Machines, Life of the Party etc), kind hearted father Lorenzo (Jim Gaffigan - Tesla etc) and grandmother (Sandy Martin - Napoleon Dynamite etc). Luca had always been interested in the outside world, but her mother was against it as the towns people always tried to capture sea monsters.

Those Who Wish Me Dead - A Cool Enough Angelina Jolie Action Thriller Movie

I have seen this movie promoted last month in several cinemas' social medias. It was released in the theater for a while before it was replaced with newer films. Yesterday it was finally released on various streaming platforms for a certain fee. So it was definitely nice for people who did not get the chance to see it then. OK, let's get to it.

Brief Story Line

Hannah (Angelina Jolie - Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, The Tourist etc) was a smokejumper struggling with the ghost of her past and resulted to her having some altercations with local sheriff Ethan (Jon Bernthal - The Punisher TV series, Sicario etc). She was also demoted and posted on fire lookout tower in the forest.  

Wish Dragon - A Heart Warming Computer Animated Comedy inspired by Genie in the Bottle Story

Ever since I watched the trailer of this movie, I decided to watch it on its premier date since it looked really funny even if it has a familiar premise. Plus watching a new funny animated movie never hurt us, right? OK, let us start with the film now.

Brief Story Line

Din (Jimmy Wong - Mulan live version etc) was a college student living with his mother Mrs. Song (Constance Wu - Crazy Rich Asians, Hustlers etc) in a crowded but friendly neighborhood. His long time dream was to reconnect with his childhood best friend Li Na (Natasha Liu Bordizzo - Guns Akimbo, The Society TV series etc) who had move out from the neighborhood and became a wealthy & famous celebrity. 

(Mini Series) Mare of Easttown - A Quite Well Balanced Drama & Murder Mystery Limited Series

I read somewhere on the internet that this series final episode somehow managed to "brought down" HBO Max application in the US, though there was no official confirmation that it was due to too many viewers opening the apps at the same time. Nevertheless, it did however intrigued me to give this show a try, especially with the really high critical rating, plus the whodunit premise. So, I watched the whole 7 episodes during weekend and here's more to it.

Brief Story Line

In a small town referred to as Easttown, Detective Mare Sheehan (Kate Winslet - Titanic, Steve Jobs etc) had been investigating the case of a missing girl for the past year. However, before it was even solved, a young woman was found dead which resulted to the community questioning her ability. It took a toll on Mare who was struggling with problems of her own. She had to raise her 4 year old grandson and living together with her mother Helen (Jean Smart - Legion TV series, Super Intelligence etc) and high school daughter Siobhan (Angourie Rice - The Nice Guys etc), while her ex husband Frank Sheehan (David Denman - Brightburn, Outcast TV series etc) was living just behind her house with his new fiancée, making it very awkward for her.

(TV SERIES) Sweet Tooth Season 1 - A Dark and Sometimes Depressing Fantasy Series that got Better as it Progressed

On Friday, this new series was released on Netflix which I was a bit doubtful to give a try since I was not familiar with the character and it looked weird too. But when I read that it was well received by critics, I decided to give it a try and finished in 1 day. All right, let's dive into it.

Brief Story Line

Story was set during the time when the world was hit by a deadly virus while at the same time new born babies were somehow became a hybrid of half human and animal. A deer-boy named Gus (Christian Convery) had to be raised by his father Pubba (Will Forte - Scoob!, Keanu etc) in the forest to avoid being captured by people who believed hybrids were the cause of the virus. After 9 peaceful years though, Gus met with a traveler named Jepperd (Nonso Anozie - Artemis Fowl, Zoo TV series etc) and decided to leave the forest with him. During their journey, they met with a young woman who was the leader of resistance movement and called herself Bear (Stefania LaVie Owen - Messiah TV series etc). 

Raya and the Last Dragon - A Truly Entertaining Family Movie with Lovely Animation and Wonderful Story

I have been waiting for this movie to be available via streaming, and after 3 months finally it was released on Disney+ yesterday. Once I had the chance, I immediately watch it last night. OK I'll just go straight to the movie.

Brief Story Line (warning possible spoiler)

Set in the land called Kumandra, 500 years after the major fight between five tribes to own the powerful gem that was converted from dragons magic, each of the tribe now owned a piece of it. Raya (Kelly Marie Tran - Star Wars: The Rise of the Skywalker etc) from the Heart tribe wanted to search for Sisu the last dragon to bring peace back to Kumandra. After finally meeting with Sisu (Awkwafina - Jumanji: The Next Level, The Angry Birds Movie 2 etc), Raya realized that she must also collect the remaining gem pieces to save the people & other dragons that were turned into stone by evil spirits called Druun.
