My wife and I were looking forward to see this movie and we even purchased the tickets for last Friday's show when it premiered during its Advance Ticket Sales event. But as we were invited to the special screening of a really wonderful South Korean movie, winner of 2019 Palme d'Or, we opted to see that one instead and passed our tickets to my wife's nephews. Since our weekend was already filled with various activities, we only got the chance to see the film last night, at the theater near our home. Anyway, I should go on with the movie now.
Brief Story Line
Set few years after the events of Toy Story 3, Woody (Tom Hanks - Sully, Sleepless in Seattle etc), Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen - Home Improvement TV series, Galaxy Quest etc) and the rest of the gang were now living happily with their new child Bonnie. One day, Bonnie brought home a new "toy" that she created from a spoon-fork and was called Forky (Tony Hale - Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip, Veep TV series etc). It was challenging though for Woody as he tried his best to convince Forky that he was fortunate being a child's toy.
As her parents wanted to go for vacation, Bonnie brought all the toys. There were a lot of things happened during this trip, especially for Woody and Forky. They also met with few other toys such as a baby doll named Gabby Gabby (Christina Hendricks - Mad Men TV series, The Strangers: Prey at Night etc), a daredevil toy Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves - John Wick series, The Whole Truth etc) and even Bo Peep (Annie Potts - Ghostbusters 1984 version, Any Day Now TV series etc).
So how would the story conclude? Find them all in another heart warming Disney Pixar beautiful animated movie.

End of Brief Story Line
For many years, I really thought that Toy Story 3 would be the final movie in the series. I always believed that the ending was really emotional, and a truly beautiful conclusion. And so I was a bit surprised when the 4th movie was announced some time ago as I could not think what more they could offer in here. But it turned out that the movie makers were really awesome. They could come up with a new story continuing with what happened in that last one which really made me amazed of their creativity. Sure there were still familiar pattern like new toys introduced with their own agenda, but their story were done in a way that it did not feel forced and came out quite naturally.
The strength of this movie once again was the beautiful animation. The one thing that Pixar never ceased to amazed me was how consistent they have been all this time with their animation. They put in a lot of attention to the details like how there was light reflection on Bo Peep's face and many others. The animation was so good that even in 2D I thought they were realistic enough to convince me these toys really did come alive.
Just like in all Disney Pixar movies, this one also got beautiful story. Their movies seemed to always brought the emotional sense of audience. Yes there were a lot of funny moments as well in the movie which made us laughed a lot. It was combination of the fun remarks from few of the toys or the behavior of some of them such as Buzz Lightyear with his inner voice, Forky with his reluctance of being a toy or the new toys like Duke Caboom (whose voice I did not recognize as Keanu Reeves') and those two sewn-together dolls of Ducky (Keegan Michael Key - Why Him? etc) and Bunny (Jordan Peele - Storks etc). There was even a bit of love story in here. But what my wife and I loved the most was the conclusion they had done in the end. It was lovely and emotional as well (though for me personally, it was more emotional in third movie).
The background music in here was just as nice as all their previous films. The sound effects though were not spectacular (at times it did not feel loud enough) but it was adequate for animated movie. This movie is categorized for all ages which I thought was perfect. It was a safe enough movie for all generations to see. It had a 100 minutes duration which did not seem too long for children as well. Btw, there were some amusing mid end credit scenes and there was a brief quite funny post end credit scene which made me and my wife happy just to see it.
Overall this was another fantastic movie. It was a lovely film, one for us to enjoy and had lots of fun seeing toys came to life. It had plenty of funny moments, some nice adventure, and some touching & emotional moments as well. Just come to the theaters if you had not seen this one and enjoy it like my wife and I did.
Happy watching!
