Greenland 2: Migration - Sequel to that Well Received Disaster Survival Thriller Movie

Few days ago, this film was released in Indonesian theaters which I was quite intrigued. But due to some reasons, we decided to see it yesterday. Since my wife never watched the first movie, she gave it a try on Thursday night and I joined her mid way through it. All right then, let's get on with the movie.

Brief Story Line

For five years after the catastrophic event of Clarke comet hitting earth, John Garrity (Gerard Butler - Den of Thieves 2Plane etc) with his wife Allison (Morena Baccarin - Fast CharlieDeadpool 2 etc) and their teenage child Nathan (Roman Griffin Davis - Jojo Rabbit, The Long Walk etc) had to live in the Greenland bunker together with lots of fellow survivors. (2025) The Great Flood - Might Have Been A More Entertaining Movie If It Stick to its Disaster Premise

Once again I watched a new movie released by Netflix on Friday. It was something that has caught my attention since few weeks ago when it was put under Coming Soon section. OK then, I'll just get started with it.

Lucky for her, a security guy named Son Hee-jo (Park Hae-soo - Butterfly TV series, Phantom etc) contacted An-na and tried to take her to safety.

Project Silence - An Intense and Suspenseful Combination of Disaster and Action Thriller Movie

As I said in my earlier post, there were quite a lot of new movies released in Indonesian cinemas this week, with two of them from South Korea. It was amazing since according to the schedule this month, there would be 5 of them. And this was the second one we saw during our movie marathon last Saturday. All right then, let's move on with it.

Brief Story Line

Cha Jung-won (Lee Sun-kyun - Parasite, My Mister TV series etc) who worked as the aide to Secretary General/candidate for President Jung Hyun-baek (Kim Tae-woo - The Pirates, Twinkling Watermelon TV series etc) was driving to the airport with his daughter Kyung-min (Kim Su-an - Train to Busan, Reflection of You TV series etc). Twisters - An Entertaining Standalone Sequel to the Amazing 1996 Movie

This is one of the movie that I highly anticipated ever since I saw its poster few months ago. My wife and I are big fan of the original 1996 film (boy that was so long ago). So when it was informed that this movie would be released on Wednesday, we decided to not wait till the weekend and bought the tickets through its advance sale option. OK, let's get on with the movie then.

Brief Story Line

Kate Cooper (Daisy Edgar-Jones - Where the Crawdads Sing, Under the Banner of Heaven mini series etc) had been working as an expert weather analyst in New York until she was approached by her old friend Javi (Anthony Ramos - Transformers: Rise of the Beast, She's Gotta Have It TV series etc) to work on finding data of tornado. Despite her reluctance due to her past experience, Kate decided to accompany Javi to Oklahoma where a series of tornadoes were hitting the state. She would later meet with Javi's team members including the rather skeptical and snobbish Scott (David Corenswet - Look Both Ways etc).

Concrete Utopia - A Very Intense and Extraordinary Survival Drama Movie

I was not aware about this movie until I saw its trailer shown few times in the cinemas in the past few weeks. Unlike most South Korean movies, this was one of those rare film that was released in all major cinema chains in Indonesia. My wife and I decided to see it today in a cinema where we could see another film for our movie marathon day. All right then, I'll get to it.

Brief Story Line

When a major earthquake hit South Korea during the winter, most buildings collapsed and killed a lot of people.  However, one block apartment building somehow survived this catastrophe. Min-seong (Park Seo-joon - The Divine Fury, Itaewon Class etc), a civil servant and his wife Myeong-hwa (Park Bo-young - On Your Wedding Day, Strong Girl Bong-soon TV series etc) who was a nurse were part of the survivors living in this apartment.

Kamu Tidak Sendiri - Only Adinia Wirasti Performance that was the Highlight in this Drama Thriller

I remember seeing this movie's poster in Indonesian cinemas some time ago but I think it failed to make real impact back then, which resulted to lack of hype surrounding it and only played for little while. However, as it is now available on Netflix (I think released 2 days ago), I got the chance to watch it easily. So I decided to give it a try last night as the premise seemed interesting enough.

Brief Story Line

Mira (Adinia Wirasti - Susah Sinyal, Ada Apa Dengan Cinta? etc) was an ambitious woman who always worked late hours to achieve her target. One night as Mira was leaving the office building, a man later on revealed to be Mika (Ganindra Bimo - Keluarga tak Kasat Mata, Jakarta vs Everybody etc) who also worked at the same floor, went inside the elevator with her. Mira was feeling really uncomfortable in the same tight place with Mika who tried to make conversations.

My wife got an invitation to the special screening of this movie in a CGV cinema where we have confirmed to attend. It was a surprise for both of us when my wife got the invitation to the special screening of this movie few nights ago as I thought it would only be done in January 2020 prior to the scheduled release. However, we were obviously happy that we got the chance to see it before we went for our holiday. Anyway I will go straight to the movie now.

The Hurricane Heist - A Very Light Combination of Disaster and Heist Movie

This movie had played in Indonesian cinemas since 27 March and it was quite a surprise for me that it premiered on a Tuesday. But then I realized it must have been due to a major new movie i.e. Ready Player One playing on Wednesday. My wife and I just wanted to give this one a try since we were not having any plans that night. I saw the trailer few weeks earlier and I thought the premise seemed interesting. So here goes more on the movie.

Brief Story Line

When a category 5 hurricane was going to hit a small city in the US, the town's sheriff Dixon (Ben Cross - Chariots of Fire etc) decided to evacuate the people to safety as he wanted to avoid having a big catastrophe like they suffered years earlier. Will (Toby Kebbell - Ben-HurA Monster Calls etc) a meteorologist who was in the area investigating the hurricane believed that it was going to be very huge and may even be larger than the forecast. He was worried that his older brother Breeze (Ryan Kwanten - True Blood TV series etc) would not make it out of the city and decided to return there to encourage him to leave.

Geostorm - A Rather Unique Disaster Movie

After few days playing in Indonesian theaters, my wife and I only saw this movie today during my personal leave from work. As we wanted to spend our time enjoying the places we stayed during our unusually long weekend staycation, we decided to postpone watching it after checking out from the last hotel we stayed in. We had to go back home first and thus it made more sense to buy the tickets in the nearest theater, Setiabudi XXI. Now let us continue with the movie.

Brief Story Line

When the climate changes almost destroyed earth in 2019, a system with multiple satellites connected to one another was created with the nickname "Dutch Boy" under the cooperation of 18 countries including US. The system was able to successfully "control climates" and avoid natural disaster on earth. All these satellites were being controlled by a climate space station outside earth with crew from various countries under the command of Jake Lawson (Gerard Butler - 300, London Has Fallen etc) who happened to create Dutch Boy.
