(SPECIAL SCREENING) Exit - A Highly Entertaining Disaster Action Comedy from the Producer of Battleship Island

Since last week, this movie was getting a lot of hype as it was promoted by quite a number of people. Then my wife got the invitation to the special screening of this film which obviously made us excited. Despite a new animated movie that started to premier yesterday, we still opted to see this film as we did not want to miss the chance to see this South Korean hit before its wide release next week. Well without further ado, let's get into the movie now.

Brief Story Line

Yong-nam (Jo Jung-suk -  My Annoying Brother, Oh My Ghost TV series etc) was kind of a slacker and had been unemployed for some time. During the birthday celebration of his mother Hyeon-ok (Go Doo-shim), his whole family including his father Jang-soo (Park In-hwan - Miss Granny etc), older sister Jung-hyun (Kim Ji-young - Forever the Moment etc) and many others went to a restaurant where the girl Yong-nam had a crush on named Eui-joo (Yoona - Confidential Assignment, God of War Zhao Yun TV series etc) worked.

However, when a disaster endanger the whole city, Yong-nam had to use his ability in rock climbing to get his family to safety, with the help from Eui-joo.

So how would the story conclude? Find them all in this fun, exciting and intense disaster action comedy movie.

End of Brief Story Line

Wow, that was really fun!! This was a movie which really excite me. A film that toy with audience emotions with its emotional roller coaster feel. One moment we were having tons of laughter, then it suddenly shift to an intense feeling. Next time we were given relief feeling only to be continued with emotional moment, then intensified again which occurred almost nonstop. The movie was having lots of humorous moments where we could laugh out loud. Even during the suspenseful scene, the movie makers did not forget to insert some jokes.

For a disaster movie, I felt this one did its job fantastically. The main characters Jo Jung-suk and Yoona had a really amazing chemistry. We really loved their interaction and it was also fun to see their behaviors whenever things seemed to be at their worst for them. I thought Jung-suk was great & really convincing playing as this character who became the unlikely "hero" to his family with his agility in doing those amazing stunts. And Yoona whom I had never seen playing action movie was pretty awesome too.

In addition, the actor and actress playing Yong-nam's parents were also really wonderful. They provided few emotional moments which definitely affected the audience. And as my wife is a really big fan of Jo Jung-suk ever since she saw him in Don't Dare to Dream TV Series, his appearance was enough to satisfy her, even without the great scenes which were quite abundant. There was no dull or boring moment in the film, although for me personally, I thought the early part before disaster took place was a bit overly long. But it did not really matter in the end cause they were still fun to see and the rest were totally awesome.

The movie to me was the near perfect blend of comedy, action and disaster at their best. I was having the joy and relieved feeling when the movie finished, a sense of satisfaction of witnessing a truly entertaining movie. There was one moment towards the end that I felt maybe a bit too dramatic but it was such a small thing that I could disregard it. However, there was one part that at first seem unclear to me, which luckily was clarified during the closing credit (if you noticed it). There was no mid or post end credit scenes, except if you want to see that specif brief scene I mentioned and listen to the nice theme song. It also had some special effects which were pretty decent with some wonderful sound effects.

Overall, this was a really entertaining movie. One of the best disaster action comedy I had ever seen. The action stunts were pretty epic with some breath taking moments. A movie where you could really relate to the people in it. It had lots of funny scenes, and not a lot of heavy thinking required, just some emotional & sometimes touching moments. So if you have the chance when it premiers on 21 August 2019, be sure to be one of the first persons to see the movie. Trust that you would enjoy it as much as we did.

Mike's movie moments rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars
