A House of Dynamite - Intelligently Done Gripping Thriller Drama From Various Angles

After several weeks of missing out watching new films on Friday in Netflix, last night I remembered to give this one a try. The brief synopsis sounded interesting, plus the involvement of many well known people made me intrigued. So let us get on with the movie then.

Brief Story Line

On what started as a normal day in Fort Geely Alaska, the team led by Major Daniel Gonzales (Anthony Ramos - Ironheart mini series, Hamilton etc) detected a nuclear missile that was of unkown origin and seemed to be heading towards the US in less than 20 minutes. The White House situation room team led by Captain Olivia Walker (Rebecca Ferguson - Silo TV series, Reminiscence etc) immediately coordinated with Secretary of Defense Reid Baker (Jared Harris - Morbius, Reawakening etc). STRATCOM Commander General Brady (Tracy Letts - Deep Water, The Post etc), Deputy NSA Jake Baerington (Gabriel Basso - The Strangers: Chapter TwoThe Night Agent TV series etc) and also the President (Idris Elba - Heads of StateH/JACK TV series etc) on how to handle.

(Mini Series) Hostage - A Fast Paced and Quite Intense Political Thriller Series

Once again Netflix has released another mini series last Friday. I was not aware about it until Saturday while browsing for new series to watch. Although the topic was intriguing but the political side made me a bit doubtful cause it was not exactly something I really looked forward to. However since this was the most interesting new show, I decided to give it a try. All right then, let's get to it now.

Brief Story Line

UK's Prime Minister Abigail Dalton (Suranne Jones - A Christmas Star, Gentleman Jack TV series etc) and French president Vivienne Toussaint (Julie Delpy - Before Midnight, On the Verge TV series etc) were having a summit to discuss on possible cooperation among the two countries. A lot was riding on the success of this summit for each leader who were assisted by Abigail's Chief of Staff Kofi Adomako (Lucian Msamati - Conclave, His Dark Materials TV series etc) and Vivienne's Secretary-general Adrienne Pelletier (Jehnny Beth - An Impossible Love etc) respectively.

(MINI SERIES) Zero Day - Intriguing Political Thriller With Some Brilliant Acting by Its Cast

Two days ago this limited series was released on Netflix. I was interested to give it a try cause the plot seemed intriguing even if it was categorized as political thriller which is usually heavy. But since it was said to be limited series, I thought it would be nice without worrying if it would be renewed in future. OK, without further ado, here's more on the series.

Brief Story Line

After a large cyber attack in the US that killed thousands, president Evelyn Mitchell (Angela Bassett - Gunpowder Milkshake, American Horror Story TV series etc) decided to appoint non partisan former president George Mullen (Robert De Niro - Amsterdam, The Godfather Part II etc) to lead an indenpendent commission and investigate the persons behind and stop further attacks. George's daughter Congresswoman Alexandra (Lizzy Caplan - Now You See Me 2, Cobweb etc) though, was against him leading the commission as he already retired and living peacefully with his wife Sheila (Joan Allen -  Nixon, The Contender etc). However, George's trusted assistant Roger (Jesse Plemons - WindfallGame Night etc) encouraged him to take the position which he ultimately did.

(Mini Series) Shogun - A Critically Acclaimed Historical Drama Series Set in 17th Century Japan

I started watching this limited series a day before its final episode was made available on Disney+ last week. It took me a while, but I finally managed to finish the whole season on Sunday night. OK, let's get started then.

Brief Story Line

Story was set in the year 1600 where a trading ship from England was stranded on the coast of Japan in Izu province. It was only left with few crews that included Pilot John Blackthorne (Cosmo Jarvis - Lady Macbeth, Persuasion etc) who were immediately taken prisoner by the locals. Kasugi Yabushige (Tadanobu Asano - Kate, 47 Ronin etc), the ruler of Izu planned to use the ship for his own benefit. But Lord Yoshii Toranaga (Hiroyuki Sanada - John Wick: Chapter 4Army of the Dead etc) whom Yabushige served, somehow got wind of it and took over the ship instead. Toranaga also instructed Blackthorne to be brought to Osaka where he was meeting with other regents, including Lord Ishido Kazunari (Takehiro Hira - Gran Turismo, Giri/Haji TV series etc).

Beckett - Not so Impressive Man on the Run Movie

Just like in previous weeks, there were some new movies released on various platforms and this time I chose to watch this movie which seemed interesting from the brief synopsis and also the trailer. So let's get on with it.

Brief Story Line

After experiencing a car accident while on holiday in Greece, Beckett (John David Washington - Tenet, BlacKkKlansman etc) an American tourist was suddenly chased by a group of people without knowing the reason. While on the run, he met with few people who helped him along the way, including an activist named Lena (Vicky Krieps - Phantom Thread etc).

(Early Screening) Roe V Wade - The Story Behind the Controversial Decision of the US Supreme Court

Few days ago I got an email providing me the chance to have early screening of this movie before it's officially released in the US theaters. I was intrigued by it as it was based on true story and starred some quite well known names. Without further ado, here's more on the movie.

Brief Story Line

Story was told from the point of view of Dr. Bernard Nathanson (Nick Loeb), a medical doctor who together with several others including his friend Lawrence Lader (Jamie Kennedy - Scream 2, Ghost Whisperer TV series) and feminist Betty Friedan (Lucy Davenport) formed abortion rights organization called NAFAR in 1969. Their aim was to ensure the woman's right of abortion legalized in the US.
