Hijack 1971 - The Amazing Story of the Actual Incident in the South Korean Aviation History

This movie was already released in Indonesian theaters more than a week ago, but as my wife and I were on holiday trip, we only saw it last Saturday. It was rather challenging as we also wanted to see another big superhero movie while this film only played in several cinemas. So we ended up having to move to different location just to see both on the same day. All right then, why don't I just get to it.

Brief Story Line

Set in the year 1971, a passenger plane was scheduled to fly from Gimpo to Seoul. The crew consisted of the experienced Pilot Gyu-sik (Sun Dong-il - Project Wolf Hunting, Ghost Doctor TV series etc), First Officer Tae-in (Ha Jung-woo - Ashfall, Narco Saints TV series etc), flight attendant Ok-Soon (Chae Soo-bin - The Pirates: The Last Royal Treasure, Rookie Cops TV series etc) and Chang-bae (Moon Yoo-kang). 

Deadpool & Wolverine - The Highly Entertaining and Still Very Hilarious Sequel to the Merc with the Mouth

After many weeks of seeing this movie heavily promoted on social media and internet, finally it was set for release on last Wednesday in Indonesia. Since I wanted to ensure seeing this in a studio with great sound system, we decided to wait till the weekend so we can buy the tickets for our favorite seats without fighting over with other people. And so we made it yesterday in the studio not far from our home. All right, let's get on with the movie now.

Brief Story Line

Six years after the events of Deadpool 2, Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds - IF, The Croods: A New Age etc) was already retired as Deadpool and working as used car sales together with Peter (Rob Delaney - Ron's Gone Wrong, The School for Good and Evil etc) and still friends with his ex girlfriend Vanessa (Morena Baccarin - Fast Charlie, Homeland TV series etc). When he was approached by the Time Variance Authority (TVA) high ranked officer Mr. Paradox (Matthew MacFayden - Succession TV series, Anna Karenina etc) to become one of their agents, Wade was very excited and decided to come out of retirement.

(TV SERIES) Tokyo Swindlers - An Entertaining Long Con Thriller Series Based on Popular Novel

I was intrigued about this new series on Netflix when I read its brief synopsis. When it was released two days ago, I just finished completing another series so I could begin watching immediately. As it was pretty short with only 7 episodes, I managed to finish it in two nights time. OK here's more on the series.

Brief Story Line

Harrison Yamanaka (Etsushi Toyokawa - Midway, Kingdom 2: Far and Away etc) was the leader of a land swindlers group working primarily in Tokyo by falsifying documents of land ownership and selling them to real estate developers. He had been nurturing his right hand man Takumi Tsujimoto (Go Ayano - Yu Yu Hakusho live version series, Shinjuku Swan etc) for the past five years, teaching him all the tricks to handle the scheme. They were also having other team members like Takeshita (Kazuki Kitamura - Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead live version series, Minazuki etc) the informer, Reiko (Eiko Koike - Rebirth, Legal High TV series etc) the imposters recruiter and Yoshio Goto (Pierre Taki - September 1923, Sanctuary TV series etc) the legal advisor. 

My Spy: The Eternal City - Inferior Sequel to the 2020 Spy Action Comedy Movie

When this movie was released on Prime Video few days ago, I was on holiday trip with my wife and did not have the chance to watch it. But I did give this movie a try last night. And so here's more on it.

Brief Story Line

Few years after the events of My Spy, JJ (Dave Bautista - Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, Hotel Artemis etc) had been living with Sophie (Chloe Coleman - Dungeon & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, Pain Hustlers etc) who was now a teenager and her mother Kate (Lara Babalola). JJ was no longer working as a field agent and instead as analyst together with Bobbi (Kristen Schaal - The Mysterious Benedict Society TV series, The Last Man on Earth TV series etc) and their boss David Kim (Ken Jeong - Wonder Park, Boss Level etc).

When Sophie's school choir was invited to go to Vatican city, JJ offered to become chaperone together with other parents and the Vice Principal Nancy (Anna Faris - The Emoji Movie, Mom comedy series etc). At first he thought it would be normal trip where his biggest trouble would be keeping the students in check, including Sophie's best friend Collin (Taeho K) and her crush Ryan (Billy Barrat - Invasion TV series etc). However things became complicated when the ruthless assassin Crane (Flula Borg - Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin etc) came into the picture and endangering the country.

Vanished into the Night - A Rather Disappointing and Lack of Intensity for Such a Thriller Movie

When I finished an interesting series two days ago, I was not able to make up my mind of what new series to watch. After scrolling through Netflix multiple times, I finally decided to give this Italian movie a try last night. It was released last Thursday and made it to the Top 10 in Indonesia which made me curious. OK then, I'll just head right to it.

Brief Story Line

Pietro (Riccardo Scamarcio - A Haunting in Venice, My Brother Is an Only Child etc) and his wife Elena (Annabelle Wallis - Malignant, Peaky Blinders TV series etc) who had been married for years and living in Bari were in the middle of divorce process. Elena wanted to take their children Bianca (Gaia Coletti) and Giovanni (Lorenzo Ferrante) back to US as she was not happy in Italy, while Pietro wanted to stay in Bari even though he was having financial difficulty.

Project Silence - An Intense and Suspenseful Combination of Disaster and Action Thriller Movie

As I said in my earlier post, there were quite a lot of new movies released in Indonesian cinemas this week, with two of them from South Korea. It was amazing since according to the schedule this month, there would be 5 of them. And this was the second one we saw during our movie marathon last Saturday. All right then, let's move on with it.

Brief Story Line

Cha Jung-won (Lee Sun-kyun - Parasite, My Mister TV series etc) who worked as the aide to Secretary General/candidate for President Jung Hyun-baek (Kim Tae-woo - The Pirates, Twinkling Watermelon TV series etc) was driving to the airport with his daughter Kyung-min (Kim Su-an - Train to Busan, Reflection of You TV series etc). While passing through the bridge that connected to the airport, a catastrophic incident occurred which resulted to the bridge on the verge of collapsing. 

(2024) Escape - A Pretty Entertaining Action Thriller Movie with a Simple Enough Plot and a bit of Drama

This week there were many new movies released in Indonesia with two South Korean films that intrigued me and my wife. As such, we decided to have another movie marathon yesterday and this was the first one that we saw.

Brief Story Line

Sergeant Lim Gyu-nam (Lee Je-hoon - Taxi Driver TV series, Collectors etc) had been in the North Korean military for 10 years. He was stationed at the border of DeMilitarized Zone with South Korea along with several lower ranked soldiers that included the young private Kim Dong-hyuk (Hong Xa-bin - Hopeless, Duty After School TV series etc). Before he was discharged though, Gyu-nam already had planned to escape to South Korea where he felt he could be free.

Twisters - An Entertaining Standalone Sequel to the Amazing 1996 Movie

This is one of the movie that I highly anticipated ever since I saw its poster few months ago. My wife and I are big fan of the original 1996 film (boy that was so long ago). So when it was informed that this movie would be released on Wednesday, we decided to not wait till the weekend and bought the tickets through its advance sale option. OK, let's get on with the movie then.

Brief Story Line

Kate Cooper (Daisy Edgar-Jones - Where the Crawdads Sing, Under the Banner of Heaven mini series etc) had been working as an expert weather analyst in New York until she was approached by her old friend Javi (Anthony Ramos - Transformers: Rise of the Beast, She's Gotta Have It TV series etc) to work on finding data of tornado. Despite her reluctance due to her past experience, Kate decided to accompany Javi to Oklahoma where a series of tornadoes were hitting the state. She would later meet with Javi's team members including the rather skeptical and snobbish Scott (David Corenswet - Look Both Ways etc).

(TV SERIES) Supacell Season 1 - An Outstanding Original British Superhero Series

Although this series has been released by Netflix for almost two weeks, I only started watching it last weekend. I was intrigued after reading somewhere that the series was great and it was also in the Top 10 watched series of Netflix in the past week. All right then, why don't I just get to it.

Brief Story Line

Michael Lasaki (Tosin Cole - Bob Marley: One Love, Unlocked etc) was living happily with his girlfriend Dionne Ofori (Adelayo Adedayo - Some Girls, Timewasters TV series etc) in London and had great plan for the future. But his life suddenly changed when he somehow developed a unique ability seemingly from the sickle cell he inherited genetically. And with the knowledge he acquired, Michael did not have a choice but to find other people who had similar abilities. They included a nurse named Sabrina Clarke (Nadine Mills - The Pay Day etc), an ex criminal Andre Simpson (Eric Kofi-Abrefa - BMF TV series etc) who just wanted to live a normal life and provide for his son, a drug dealer Rodney (Calvin Demba - The Rig TV series etc) and Tazer (Josh Tedeku - Boarders TV series etc), the young leader of a small gang.

Handsome Guys - A Hilarious Horror Comedy Movie WIth Rather Slapstick Humor that Should Please Fans of Such Genre

I saw this movie promoted by CGV Indonesia cinema chain and after reading its brief synopsis, it seemed like a fun comedy. My wife who is big fan of South Korean drama was interested due to its two lead stars. So despite the genre was horror comedy, we decided to give it a try yesterday. Well let's get started then.

Brief Story Line

Jae-pil (Lee Sung-min - The Devil's Deal, Shadow Detective TV series etc) and his half brother Sang-gu (Lee Hee-joon - Badland Hunters, Mouse TV series etc) were two kind-hearted guys but their appearances and behaviors made them looked like really bad people. And this affected their first encounter with a group of college students who felt intimidated by them, particularly Mina (Gong Seung-yeon - The First Responders TV series, Aloners etc). As they drove to their new home in a really remote place, Jae-pil and Sang-gu were stopped by Police Chief Choi (Park Ji-hwan - The Roundup: Punishment, Nokdu Flower TV series etc) and his partner Officer Nam (Lee Kyu-hyung - All of Us Are Dead TV series, Seoul Vibe etc) who were suspicious with them.

(TV SERIES) Crash Season 1 - A Delightful and Entertaining Police Procedural Series with Some Well Executed Action and Pretty Awesome Story

While looking for something new on Disney+ a couple of months back, I noticed about this South Korean series that I felt had an interesting premise. As usual, I waited till all the episodes were released which was around two weeks ago. But since I was in the middle of something, I only started to watch last Sunday and finished it last night. OK, here's more on the series. 

Brief Story Line

The series focused on a team called Traffic Crime Investigation (TCI) that consisted of their leader Captain Jung (Heo Sung-tae - The Silent Sea TV series, Stellar etc), the very smart Detective Min So-hee (Kwak Sun-young - Moving TV series, Brain Works TV series etc), the automobile specialist Donggi (Lee Ho-chul - Earth Chronicles TV series etc) and the youngest Hyeon-geong (Choi Moon-hee - Duty After School TV series etc). In one of their cases, they encountered insurance investigator Cha Yeon-ho (Lee Min-ki - Decibel, The Lies Within TV series etc) who was investigating a fraud and later became the newest member of TCI.

Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F - A Pretty Decent Sequel of the 1980s Entertaining Action Comedy Movies

Few months ago, I noticed this movie in the Coming Soon section of Netflix. It was a surprise for me cause I was not aware they were going to make the sequel after so many years. Anyway when it was finally released yesterday, I immediately gave it a try last night. Without further ado, here's more on the film.

Brief Story Line

Detroit Detective Axel Foley (Eddie Murphy - Coming 2 America, The Nutty Professor etc) was still making huge problem to the city whenever he was on the job. After hearing from his old friend Billy (Judge Reinhold - Fast Times at Ridgemont High, The Santa Clause movies etc) that his estranged daughter Jane (Taylour Paige - Zola, Hit the Floor TV series etc) was having trouble while defending a criminal, Axel decided to return to Beverly Hills and help her.

Despicable Me 4 - Not Our Favorite in the Series, Although it Still Provided Few Laughs

Since the first time we found out about this movie, my wife and I were totally excited and eager to see it at the earliest. Which was why we were willing to see the film on the first day of its special screening on Sunday where it only had one show. It was very challenging since apparently with the school holiday in Indonesia, most families decided to see it as well. Luckily we managed to get a couple of seats in a cinema that was quite OK for us. All right then, let's get on with the movie.

Brief Story Line

Gru (Steve Carrell - The Big Short, Speed Force TV series etc) who now worked as Agent for Anti Villain League and married to Lucy Wilde (Kristen Wiig - Wonder Woman 1984, How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World etc) were happily living together with their adopted daughters Margo (Miranda Cosgrove - Mother of the Bride, iCarly TV series etc), Edith (Dana Gaier), Agnes (Madison Polan) and the new born baby Gru Jr. However, after the criminal mastermind Maxime Le Mal (Will Ferrell - Barbie, Eurovision Song Contest etc) escaped from prison, he vowed to get revenge on Gru together with his fianceé Valentina (Sofia Vergara - Griselda TV series, The Emoji Movie etc).
