Transformers One - A Highly Entertaining Prequel of the Transformers Series

I was already quite excited when I saw the trailer to this movie, despite it's an animated as opposed to the live version of these beloved robots that could transform. I was already planning to see this together with my wife on Friday night in the cinema near our home but we cancelled it due to various reasons. So we finally saw it yesterday in another one of our movie marathon. All right, I'll just get to it then.

Brief Story Line

In the planet Cybertron after huge war with their enemy Quintessons, the robots who were unable to transform were tasked as miners to harvest energy source. Among them were two best friends Orion Pax (Chris Hemsworth - Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga12 Strong etc) and D-16 (Brian Tyree Henry - Class of '09 TV series, The Woman in the Window etc) who had been working in the mines for a long time and were also friends with high ranked officer Elita-1 (Scarlett Johansson - Avengers: End GameGhost in the Shell etc).

Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins - Pretty Enjoyable in term of Action but Lacking Engaging Story to Make it Truly Interesting

I was really excited and looking forward to watching this movie ever since it was promoted to be released on Catchplay+ in September. Despite being late for 1 day, it was still better as it was accessible from home earlier than in Indonesian theaters. Anyway, I am going to go ahead on the film now.

Brief Story Line

A man with great martial arts skill who went by the name Snake Eyes (Henry Golding - Last ChristmasThe Gentlemen etc) was recruited by Yakuza boss, Kenta (Takehiro Hira - Lost Girls & Love Hotels etc). Due to some reasons, he left them and befriended with Tomisaburo Arashikage (Andrew Koji - Warrior TV series etc), the future leader of secret ninja clan Arashikage.

Bumblebee - A Family Friendly and Nice Fresh Take on the Transformers Series

I am actually one of big fans of Transformers series (and not ashamed of it). My wife and I really enjoyed the first movie and were really amazed and in awe when we saw those cartoon characters came into life for the first time. Back then I never thought they could pulled it off but they did (thanks to Michael Bay). But later the movies did decrease a bit in quality though I still enjoyed them, that is until I saw the fifth installment which kind of disappointed me. So when they said they wanted to make a prequel with the beloved Bumblebee as main lead, I was really excited. We immediately bought the ticket for its premiere date and last night we got the chance to see it in the theater nearest our home.

Brief Story Line

Set in the year 1987, Charlie (Hailee Steinfeld - Spider-man: Into the Spider-verse, The Edge of Seventeen etc) was a teenager who had withdrawn herself a bit from her family and really wanted to have her own car. With some luck she came across with a yellow very old Volkswagen Beetle and managed to get it started. Little did she know that it was actually an Autobot called B-127 (voiced by Dylan O'Brien - The Maze Runner trilogy, American Assassin etc) that had transformed himself into the car, to avoid capturing by Decepticons.

Transformers: The Last Knight - The 5th And Not the Best Transformers Movie

Another Transformers movie? Definitely a must-see movie for my wife and I because we love those robots that can transform so much. After seeing the trailer a week ago, I noticed that the movie was promoted as shot in IMAX 3D. So we decided that we should see it in IMAX. I am a bit embarrassed to admit that for so many years I have been watching movies, I had never had the experience of seeing anything in IMAX. As I had something personal that I need to do, I have already applied my leave on 21st of June, which happened to be the premiere day of this movie. Such a nice coincidence, right? Anyway, we went to Mall Kelapa Gading as it was one of the only 2 cinemas having IMAX studio in Jakarta and watched the first show at 12.30 PM. Now let us get on to the movie.

Brief Story Line

The movie was told after the events of Transformers: Age of Extinction, where Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg - The Departed, Ted, Deepwater Horizon etc) was helping the Autobots from the chasing of a newly setup troops called TRF (Transformers Reaction Force). TRF was setup with the sole purpose of capturing all aliens whether they were Autobots or Decepticons and led by Santos (Santiago Cabrera - Merlin TV series). Commander Lennox (Josh Duhamel - When In Rome, New Year's Eve etc) who actually still believed in Autobots had no choice but be part of TRF as well. During one incident, Cade met with a young girl named Izabela (Isabela Moner - Middle School: The Worst Years of My Life) who would later on have some part in his future mission.
