Brief Story Line
Park Chun-woo (Go Kyung-pyo - Reply 1988 TV series, Decision to Leave etc) was a sergeant stationed at the border of South and North Korea. One night he somehow came across a winning lottery ticket (called 6/45 lotto) with a huge prize. Unfortunately, the ticket flew to the North Korean border and picked up by sergeant Yong-ho (Lee Yi-kyung - Hitman: Agent Jun, Welcome to Waikiki TV series etc).
Chun-woo obviously tried to collect back the ticket and became at each other's throat with Yong-ho who wanted to collect the money but also need the help as he was a North Korean. This fight for the tickets escalated soon enough when other people were also involved, including Captain Kang (Eum Moon-suk - Pipeline etc), the observant Man-chul (Kwak Dong-yeon - Vincenzo TV series etc) from the South and commander Seung-il (Lee Soon-won - Mr. Sunshine TV series etc), specialist in hacking Cheol-jin (Kim Min-ho - Swing Kids etc) and the female officer Yeon-hee (Park Se-wan - So Not Worth It TV series etc) from the North.
So how would the story conclude? You can find out in this movie.
End of Brief Story Line
I got to admit that when I started watching this movie, I did not really have an idea of the story, except it was about the winning lottery ticket that became the object of fights among several people. At first I thought the idea was pretty interesting and seemed to promise lots of funny moments. However, as the story progressed, my wife and I were a bit confused as we could not really get all the humor. And it was made worse by the constant burst of laughter from few people behind us during the scenes that we thought were not funny at all.
Anyway, the story telling I thought was pretty smooth, especially the way more and more people gain knowledge of the winning ticket which was the part where the humorous situation arose. But then again, through out the whole movie, we were only able to laugh (or perhaps chuckled) few times. This was disappointing for us as we already had our hopes high, especially with the many positive remarks circling around. Both of us also agreed that another South Korean action comedy movie back in 2019 was way better in terms of comedy and story.
The cast themselves were quite decent and did their best to provide the comedy. And I am not saying that it was completely not funny as there few scenes that we enjoyed, such as the one involving Cheol-jin, or the time when the South Korean soldiers were looking at their counterpart using binoculars and also the part where Captain Kang had to do some translations. The ending was quite predictable and I personally felt it was not exciting enough during the final third. It would probably be nicer if the final scene before closing credit was done a bit differently. Btw, there was no mid or post end credit scenes.
Overall this was a comedy movie with interesting idea and it might be fun for some but apparently not the case for me and my wife. Both of us were also very critical with the Indonesian translation which might seem funny but some of the meaning were completely altered from the English words (that I have more faith in). Now you could obviously give this movie a try as it is still playing in few cinemas and see for yourself whether it is to your liking. For us though, this is not one of the most hilarious comedy like some people made it to be.
