Hotel Transylvania: Transformation - Very Light & Hilarious Supposedly Final Sequel

I noticed about this new movie released on Prime Video few days ago. It is the 4th installment of the Hotel Transylvania movies and since my wife and I liked the previous films, we were interested in watching it. It was also quite convenient as the movie was easily accessible. OK we'll get to it then.

Brief Story Line

While celebrating the 125th anniversary of Hotel Transylvania, Drac (Brian Hull), his daughter Mavis (Selena Gomez - Only Murders in the Building TV series, Another Cinderella Story etc), her husband Johnny (Andy Samberg - I Love You Man, Brooklyn Nine Nine TV series etc), and the rest of the gang were enjoying the time of their lives.

Until somehow Johnny was transformed into a monster while Drac became a human. Together both of them did everything they could to transform themselves into their original form before it became permanent.

So what would happen to them? You can find out in this computer animated comedy movie.

End of Brief Story Line

Now that was fun. My wife and I had a good time watching this movie as we could not stop laughing from start to finish due to the various hilarious scenes involving almost all of the characters. The comedy arise not only from the situation where the kind-hearted Johnny became a monster who was still having the same personality, but also from Drac who had to adapt being a human. So many times we would laugh out loud because of them.

And to make things even funnier, we also got to see the other characters showing their craziness. In addition to Drac's old gang like Wayne the werewolf (Steve Buscemi - Reservoir Dogs etc) and his wife Wanda (Molly Shannon - A Night at the Roxbury etc), Murray the mummy (Keegan-Michael Key - Playing with Fire etc), Griffin the invisible man (David Spade - The Wrong Missy etc), Frankenstein (Brad Abrell) and his wife Eunice (Fran Drescher - The Nanny TV series etc), there were also the appearances of Ericka (Kathryn Hahn - Bad Moms etc) and Van Helsing (Jim Gaffigan - Luca etc) reprising their roles from the 3rd movie Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation.

All of the characters interaction also provided funny moments most of the time. My favorite scene would be the ones involving change of appearance in particular Frankenstein, Griffin and Blobby. Btw, Adam Sandler no longer provided the voice of Drac in this fourth movie, but my wife and I think Brian Hull managed to pull it off nicely. The story here was very simple and merely focusing on the experience Drac and Johnny had while going across the world to find the way to transform them back. There was also the familiar Drac and Mavis "fight" involving Johnny. Oh, there was no mid or post end credit scenes, but there few funny animations during the closing credits.

As I said in my post of the previous movie, the original Hotel Transylvania  still has the best story, while the sequels were focusing mostly on the comedic side. Just like in prior films, there were also few nice songs in the background and the truly colorful animation of the funny monsters which should be likable for kids. Short duration of only 87 minutes was just perfect. My wife and I enjoyed ourselves watching this one, as it did not require a lot of thinking and we could just have silly fun. It is definitely a stress relief movie. So if you are looking for such fun, then this one would give you just that.

Mike's movie moments rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars
