Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows - Fun Sequel to a Fun Movie

It has been a while since I watched a movie on Saturday night, and finally I got the chance to do it last night with my wife. I have bought the ticket since lunch time and sitting in a restaurant writing on my review plus reading some other stuff while waiting for the movie to start. Well off to the story then.

Brief Story Line

If you have watched the 1st movie earlier, you would know that the turtles which consist of the leader Leonardo (voiced by Pete Ploszek), the muscle Raphael (voiced by Alan Ritchson), the brain Donnatello (voiced by Jeremy Howard) and the so called joker Michelangelo (voiced by Noel Fisher) were the ones who actually caught Shredder (played by Brian Tee) and his foot soldiers. But in order to avoid the spot light, Vern (Will Arnett) took the fame. The turtles were happy to be under the radar but they had always yearn to be able to stand out and be normal just like any other people. During a basketball game where they could only watched from the top of the field, April (played by Megan Fox - Transformers) was trying to find out if Dr. Baxter Stockman (played by Tyler Perry - Gone Girl etc) was actually having something to do with Shredder.

Meanwhile Shredder was about to be transported to another jail and he was put in a transportation vehicle together with 2 low life gangsters called Bebop (played by Gary Anthony Williams) and Rocksteady (played by WWE wrestler Sheamus). The vehicle was driven by a police officer accompanied by Officer Casey Jones (played by Stephen Amell - Arrow TV series). Unfortunately Shredder managed to escape and cooperated with Colonel Krang (from another dimension).

So can Leo, Raph, Donnie & Mikey stop Krang and Shredder once again? Find them all in this fun action adventure movie.

End of Brief Story Line

Well it was real fun watching this movie together with my wife. We were part of the generation that saw the cartoons of TMNT on TV. And seeing Bebop, Rocksteady, Krang and the ninjas really brought back some nostalgic moment.

The movie itself was very very fun. There were lots of funny moments and crack jokes by the turtles. I also enjoyed looking at the special effects. I think the turtles really looked real with Krang disgustingly real as well. The scenes on the airplane were cool and funny at the same time, while the action scenes on the river was also great (I kind of feel that maybe watching this one in 3D is not such a bad idea).

Anyway, if you are into some very light fun adventure with cool fighting scenes between turtles and ninjas plus nice looking special effects for 1 hr 45 minutes, then this one's definitely for you. Please do not expect deep conversation drama & forget about the plot continuity (it was produced by Michael Bay). This is really straight for fun and laughs. And of course if you are a fan of the cartoon, this one can remind you of those times.

Personally, I think the 1st one was better than this sequel. But still, it's fun to watch.

Mike's movie moment rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars
