Brief Story Line
On a clear night in Japan, two lights from outer space somehow reached the earth. While the dark light entered into the body of a jobless and bitter man named Mitsuru Hiriya (Tori Matsuzaka - Samurai Sentai Shinkenger TV series etc), the white light entered into Shinnosuke Nohara aka Shin-chan (Yumiko Kobayashi) the kindergarten kid. Apparently the lights gave both of them super power which Mitsuru used to wreak havoc but Shin-chan used to play around.
As Mitsuru continued his personal mission to get revenge on the whole country, the world had no choice but to rely on the naughty Shin-chan. So how would the story conclude? You could find out in this movie.
End of Brief Story Line
Yup, that was basically the whole story of this animated movie. If you are fans of Shin-chan like my wife is, you would know what to expect from this movie as all his usual traits and characteristics were shown here. From his perverted mind or playful personality to his better qualities like loyalty and love for his family, you would see them all. Which made us root for him while also laughed at his antics.
A lot of the characters from the series appeared in the movie like Shin-chan's parents Misae (Miki Narahashi) & Hiroshi (Toshiyuki Morikawa) and his baby sister Himawari (Satomi Korogi). There were also his kindergarten friends (with my favorite Bo-Chan) and also the teachers. Aside from the usual people from the anime series, few voice cast also guest starred in here such as Mogura Suzuki as professor Ikebukuro, Akari Kito as professor's assistant Negiko, Mizukawa Katamari as Nustradamus II and several others.
The movie was promoted as the first 3D CG in the franchise. From the looks of it, audience seemed to embraced it as it became the highest-grossing Crayon Shin-chan movie in the series till date. This 31st movie was directed by Hitoshi Ône whose prior experience was mostly directing non animated movie or series like Bakuman, The Vortex of Love etc. Despite its light nature and the story that seemed to be aimed for kids or hard core fans, there were few times the dialogues felt quite deep as it touched the condition of the country and even had strong moral message. Amazingly there were few touching moments as well, especially during the climax, but the hilarity was still maintained. We both laughed out loud many times, particularly my wife who probably laughed the loudest in the studio.
The movie had a short duration of 93 minutes. It did not have any mid or post end credit scene, but during the closing credits, there were few funny animation that you could see while accompanied by its theme song "Future is Yours" by Sambomasters. In case you are still not familiar, this was based on Japanese manga series Crayon Shin-chan which was a huge success and very popular. If you have read them or watched the TV series, you would have known how his personalities were and would not be shocked seeing his behavior in the movie.
Overall this was nothing short of what you could expect from the movie. If you like Shin-chan, then you would not want to miss this on the big screen. Although the 3D was not absolutely felt like my wife commented, but it was still fun seeing them even if we were a bit late (movie was released last year in Japan). For fans of Shin-chan, I think you would like this one and felt pleased seeing the movie, like my wife was who immediately craved for Temaki after the film finished. But if you are no fans or do not like its jokes, then possibly you would not enjoy it.
Mike's movie moments rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars
