Brief Story Line
Lucy (Madison Bailey - Outer Banks TV series etc) had been living in the shadow of her older sister Summer (Antonia Gentry - Ginny & Georgia TV series etc) who was killed by a serial killer 21 years before. While visiting the memorial site of the killing, Lucy was somehow transported back to the year 2003, two days before the killing started.
As she was trying to understand the situation better, Lucy met with Summer's friend Quinn (Griffin Gluck - Locke & Key TV series etc) who seemed to believe her. Both of them later tried their best to get Lucy back to her time line. However, due to certain circumstances, ultimately they tried to save the people from being killed, including Summer.
So how would the story conclude? You could find out in this movie.
End of Brief Story Line
I said above that the premise was familiar cause I have seen another movie with same combination of time travel and slasher titled Totally Killer. So I was hoping that I would have fun watching this one as much or more than I did before. Sadly though it did not materialize. The film not only fail to live up to my expectation but I even felt it to be having weak plot, the killing was too soft without any horrifying images and the time travel element too generic.
When I watched the movie, the early part was still OK with the first killing shown, although it was not the gore kind. But once it moved to the present, I sensed that it was trying to be serious by showing the situation Lucy was in due to her parents' treatment. Then came the time travel which was not convincing at all. Subsequently the story was moving in slow pace, focusing on the drama side and little horror. Finally came the climax which was not satisfying at all. I was not surprised who the murderer was but I thought it was a bit illogical (cause it was obvious they used different person to portray the killer). Now the ending was understandable and since there is no real physics on time travel, I could not say that such thing could not happen.
It was fairly surprising that the film was poorly executed seeing that it was based on screenplay by Michael Kennedy who was the co-writer of the well received Freaky. It was directed by Hannah Macpherson (creator & director of T@gged web series) and she was also credited as co-writer. The movie only had duration of 92 minutes which included the closing credits but it did not have any mid or post end credit scenes. The main cast was so so while the rest of the support cast did not leave any good impression to me.
In the end this was something that I sadly feel not good enough. The only good thing was probably the 2003 setting which looked convincing (clothes, the non existence of mobile phone and other stuff) plus the nice enough songs. The rest was unfortunately forgettable. This time I completely agreed with the critics who trashed this one and audience did not seem to like it either, even though it did make it to the Top 10 in Indonesia. So if you are looking for a fun and entertaining combination of slasher and time travel, then Totally Killer would be a much better option.
