(TV SERIES) The Flight Attendant - Fun Indeed with Lovely Performance from Kaley Cuoco

I saw this mini series getting a lot of hype on the internet and I read that the final episode was going to be released this week. So I decided to start watching it 3 days ago and managed to complete it last night. Well let's get on with the series now.

Brief Story Line

A flight attendant who was also an alcoholic named Cassie Bowden (Kaley Cuoco - The Big Bang Theory TV series, Lucky 13 etc) was quite irresponsible and loved to have sex with some of the passengers, such as Alex Sokolov (Michiel Huisman - 2:22, The Haunting of Hill House TV series etc). Her life was turned upside down when during one of her crazy nights, she was so drunk and woke up with dead body of her date. Fearing to be caught by police, she left the hotel and returned to work as if nothing happened.

The FBI appointed agents Kim Hammond (Merle Dandridge - Greenleaf TV series etc) and Van White (Nolan Gerard Funk - Truth or Dare, The Canyons etc) on the case who interviewed the plane's flight attendants including Cassie and her colleagues, Megan (Rosie Perez - Birds of Prey, In Living Colors TV series etc) & Shane (Griffin Matthews). Cassie later engaged her best friend/lawyer Annie (Zosia Mamet - Girls TV series etc) to help her. While trying to "investigate" on the case herself, Cassie continued to bring mess everywhere and in the process hurt the people she cared about like her own brother Davey (T. R knight - Grey's Anatomy TV series etc). She even had a fling with a random guy he met at a bar named Buckley (Colin Woodell - Unfriended: Dark Web etc).

So what would happen to Cassie? Find them all in this fun series.

End of Brief Story Line

I was intrigued to watch this series by the premise which seemed to promise lots of fun. And when I watched the first episode, the early part was indeed interesting, especially when our lead character, the totally messy flight attendant Cassie woke up next to the dead body. The aftermath was complete chaos caused by Casssie's own inability to properly think straight most likely because of her alcohol problems. But then things started to feel a bit weird for me when visions were involved. Luckily after a while I got used to them and could enjoy better as they became part of Cassie's thought process.

The series certainly had its charm, especially with the wonderful performance from Kaley Cuoco who was totally convincing in this role. It was fun looking what kind of a mess she would bring everytime she pulled one of her crazy stunts. Although by the middle of the series (only 8 episodes of 39-46 minutes each), I started to feel sorry for her and at times a bit frustrated. However, her briliant performance had a rather negative effect on the other cast since she practically outshone most of them, except for Michiel Huisman and Zosia Mamet who I thought were also great in here. Of all the 8 episodes, my favorites were episode 5 (the most fun) and episode 7.

Aside from the cast I mentioned above, there were also some people that showed up quite frequently such as Michelle Gomez (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina TV series etc) as Miranda, Dennis Akdeniz as Max, Stephanie Koenig as Sabrina and few others. Btw, I loved Max character in here (and I believed you would like him as well if you watch this series). Oh when I saw the opening credit, I noticed a name that has been popping up in so many TV series nowadays, i.e. Greg Berlanti as one of the executive producer. If you have read my various posts, I think you would see that I frequently mentioned him.

The mystery itself was intriguing as it was revealed little by little through the whole messy process by Cassie. There was a nice twist as what you would expect in mystery story. But if I have to criticize, I thought the side story involving one of the character was a bit of a distraction without any added value to my personal opinion. Not sure if it's added in the series or it was the same as the novel cause I have not read it yet. Yes, this series was based on a novel of the same title written by Chris Bohjalian (writer of 20 novels including Midwives which had been adapted to a critically success TV movie starring Sissy Spacek).

Overall this was indeed a fun series. Its main attraction was the amazing performance by Kaley Cuoco in a comedic role (should not be a surprise considering her long experience in sitcoms). There was a mystery to be solved in a unique way plus some drama about relationship and I think a moral message of alcoholism (never be too drunk to have a blackout). It has a lovely ending, though I thought the side story has a disappointing conclusion as it could have a different & more exciting path. Anyway, if you want to watch mini series having these attributes, then you could give it a try. And if you are fans of The Big Bang Theory & love Kaley Cuoco in there, you would love her in here too.
